- DoggiesDilema Part 2- Court St Brooklyn 7/11/13. Somehow this pooch got through the child window guard & was trapped on a narrow 2nd floor ledge. Tense crowd waited as a lone firefighter came to the rescue!

I think he should have put the basket up against the building below the dog, but he did end up rescuing it and that's what matters. Good job. Nice dog.
Btw, tip for everyone who usually doesn't handle dogs: If you want/need/are allowed to touch a dog for whatever reason (rescue, help, saying hello.., wiping off your hand *caugh* :P), try to touch his face from the side or beneath his chin. Most dogs really don't like being touched on the head from above, so they flinch a little.

Dogs usually have to feel safe & secure before eating/ drinking. but his Awesome firefighter was trying to gain her trust & not forcing he too fast. Thank you for saving her Awesome Fireman!!! :))

Good thing that dog was friendly enough to be rescued. Usually Chow Chow breeds are head strong and don't trust anyone but their owners and close family. Good dog.

There is another dog in that apt. You see it clearly at the end. Is it possible that the dog walked over from someone else’s apt.window to visit. How could it fit through those bars if it belonged in that apt.? The only silly person, is the dude saying “in case the dog decides to jump.” LOL! Dog’s aren’t stupid. They don’t want to fall or jump from great heights any more than humans do. Good rescue

Great job by a fireman who handled this perfectly. Although Chows are attractive dogs, they are known to bite strangers when touched. It's a defensive mechanism. A natural one.

Obviously, the dogs owner wasn't home, otherwise the window guard could have been removed and the dog brought back in, thanks to the NY Fire Dept, the brave fireman, taking a chance at being bitten, saved the dog.
Not necessarily. contact landlord -> gain key entry -> open window. however, that could spook the dog and knock him off
actually if you look closely within 2:30-2:45, specifically under the dog's butt and behind his legs, you can see movement from inside
the firefighter should have used webbing to rap around the dog, the inside guy could pull the rope up from under his belly and one rear leg and throw it over his back and do another rap under the belly. all the firefighter had to was hold the leash and the webbing, easy task without choking the dog
+LatifaShaqueefa "ACTUALLY", it was a member of the maintenance, department,of The F.D.N.Y. crew, that pulled up his maintenance truck, ( look at his truck, carefully )and used the lift bucket, to save the poor little doggie.
