Just finished applying these mods. Still a LOT of distortion, even at minimum. But definitely as advertised -- it beefs up the overall tone, and it's got great clarity. Rock solid. I probably should have put in a switch to remove the diodes from the circuit entirely -- would have been very easy (Just an spst), and would add an additional tonal option. I didn't have any small caps, but everything fit comfortably, so this wasn't tricky to get everything to fit. Thanks again for the project and detail!
SoundFare know this, your content is Awesome and I know for a fact the way you record and edit your content, your channel is about to explode! Keep up the Fantastic Work my friend! Cheers 🍻
hey man, i have a question for you. i saw this video a few weeks ago and wanted to try this on my ds-1 i had laying around for fun, and wanted to know if the voltages of the capacitors, rather than ohms, mean anything? i have never done anything like this before, so i have no idea what is important. anyway, great mod my man, really kick ass
Hey, thanks for watching the video :) In case you want to try it use power ratings at least double the input voltage. For a 9v guitar pedal use at least 24v power rating for capacitors. Standard metal Film 0,6watt Resistors are just fine 🙌 Don’t forget to subscribe 😀
Hey, the modded version sounds so good. I have the components to try it but the capacitors I've got are ceramic. It's there any problems or risks from using ceramic instead of film capacitors?
Ah ok. I was just wondering about the difference of using an LED instead of just a normal diode like we are for the other component? Is it to do with the voltage drop? Thanks for the tutorial! Excited to hear how it sounds when I’m done
I dunno if it's my speakers, or my ears, or both, but I'm having a hard time hearing the differences. The modded one sounds perhaps a bit darker and probably a bit boosted in its output? More menacing?

I’m glad you dig the mod! Your ideas about further mods sound awesome dude! Thanks for sharing your experience and thoughts 🙏🏻

we'll see how far this goes, but i really hope you're right! 🙏 i appreciate your kind words man!
Thats pretty awesome. Sounds really good. I may need to try this
Awesome Video Thanks!
Thank you 🙏🏻
That's a pretty neat sound, what pickups were you using in the demos?
Hey thanks ✌🏻 I used the stock pickups of my LTD B-154 DX bass

As a rule of thumb
It’s fine to use ceramics up to 1nF
Everything above this value should be film. Ceramics can get microphonic
Hey are we meant to swap one of the diodes with and led? For what reason exactly? Thanks
It’ll change the sound in a pleasing way. Basically this will add more mids.

Original sounds kinda anemic to me
Will the mod work on both Japan made and Taiwan made DS-1?
if theres a through hole circuitboard in the MIJ version, i think this should work as well. just compare it with the one i used. ✌
@@SOUNDFARE Thanks
