@solowinterwolf The 'Vieuxtemps concert violin' is a Guarneri del Gesù made by Giuseppe Guarneri in 1741, making it one of the final instruments ever made by him and currently valued as the most valuable in the world.
goodness, first joshua bell video ive actually watched! after laughing at the beginning (you know what im talking about!), i then just had to sit back watch and applaude at the end!
Specifically, what is the I.D. of this fiddle? Maker? Date? Sobriquet? Vieuxtemp had at least four great violins: an Amati, two Guarnieri del Gesus, and a Tourte.
I thought so too at first, but think if he was just standing there not moving and playing fast like that, it would look more awkward than him moving around like he does :)
I have no special interest in this sale. An unplayed instrument loses its cachet in the market (which is why we find Mr. Bell here). Having heard dozens of the greatest violins, including, now, this one, my current favorite is Silvia Marcovici's 17th century Albani -- something of an open secret in the violin world, I gather. Another student of Amati, Paolo Albani lived 47 years and didn't stray much from the designs of his teacher, but he made at least one truly great violin.
It shows YOU are in love with that instrument!!! YOUR performance is realy AWESOME!!!
This is Ganz Hall from Roosevelt University in Chicago

ok, now the end song was by vieuxtemps, sorry for that.
i thought the composer of that was ysaye, vieuxtemps was "only" his teacher.
