y'all need to stop complaining about Hamilton getting so many nominations. It's a given that Hamilton is ground breaking and it really does deserve the hype that it's getting. Lin along with the entire cast deserve the love that they receive. Also those of you being rude about it is exactly the opposite of what the Hamilton cast is doing. They all are very excited yes but not a single person who was nominated for Hamilton has been rude about it. They all are so humble and grateful for this experience. Everyone else nominated deserved it as well and if more nominations could be made then they would be. Just let them have their moment...
+Cassidy Gage I don't disagree with you as to HAMILTON deserving its noms, but I believe there was leeway in some categories for the nominators to put forward more nominees than they did. Not positive, so please correct me if I'm wrong.
thank you for saying this because honestly I'm sick of people raining on Hamiltons parade just because they have a talented cast and are being awarded for it (?) it's just so frustrating
Cassidy Gage *YES!* Omg Hamilton *SOOO* deserves all the hype and awards they get. And so does Lin because he wrote the *WHOLE* play by himself, and then played the leading role and did an *AMAZING* job.
I think that it will go to either Daveed or Chris. I say that not cuz I don't love Groff, but he only has 9 minutes of stage time so they don't really show his character that much besides his 3 songs and his appearance in the reynolds pamphlet
Amazing job to every cast and crew member of Hamilton! Lin, Leslie, Reene, Daveed, Johnathan, Christopher, and Pippa all did amazing, and Hamilton deserves every award that they are nominated for!
I can only imagine the relief for all of the nominees in a play. Probably thinking "thank f*ck we don't have to beat Hamilton in order to win our categories."
I really hope Laura Benanti wins for lead actress in a musical! She deserves a lead actress Tony, already, and apparently she's fantastic in SHE LOVES ME (what a shame none of the featured actors from that could get a nom, other than Miss Jane K.). It would also be so great if Jane Greenwood could FINALLY win a Tony for costume design, after all her many nominations, and the great work she's done. Unfortunately, it seems like historical, or more flashy kinds of designs tend to get the attention, and possibly LONG DAY'S JOURNEY won't be that kind of eye-grabbing piece to win for her.
+Herman Falck How Quite likely, though I hope it doesn't go down completely like that. From whatever I can glean (not being in a position to get to see any of the shows), HAMILTON certainly deserves a lot of the awards (for instance, best score seems to be a no-brainer), but there are some categories that aren't quite as absolutely clear. In any case, whatever happens, at least HAMILTON truly is something extraordinary, with fundamental quality to it, so it won't be quite like the year of THE PRODUCERS, which was somewhat maddening, especially the best score it won, over THE FULL MONTY and JANE EYRE, both of which I'd put pretty far above it in that category.
AvalonMorley I think a couple technical and such it won't get. But all the acting ones, plus score, and of course best musical. It really is one of those gamechangers that deserve to be recognised. The biggest gamechanger for musicals since Rent, and it is perhaps a bigger one than Rent was.
Herman Falck How That all sounds quite likely. You don't have to convince me about the import and quality of HAMILTON, even though I haven't gotten to see it, and likely won't for quite awhile. Like so many fans, I was eagerly awaiting it, being a LMM fan from the first listen of the IN THE HEIGHTS OBCR many years ago, and listening to, watching, and reading everything I could get my hands on about HAMILTON, all along (even quite a few of the fan performance responses, some of which are quite good and/or creative, all of which speaks well of the show, I think, and illustrates some aspects of what makes the show so important).
Wow Lea Salonga got shunned. Low nominations for Allegiance. Aiming for Laura Benanti!! love her!! Hamilton is obviously going to dominate this year's Tony's. It's already a given.
Okay- Okay- So, I don't know why, but IDK, there's a thing called And Peggy effect in the Theater Fandom right? Well, Jasmine Cephas-Jones was the only person in the Schuyler Sisters team who was not nominated right? Shuffle Along was nominated to be Best Lighting in a Musical right? And 2 peeps were nominated. BUT-- Jules Fisher and guess what? aND FRIGGIN PEGGY WAS MENTIONED! Coincidence? I THINK NOT!
Respects go out to Waitress and School of Rock. Hamilton is absolutely genius and fantastic, but I wish Waitress and School of Rock would’ve gotten something.
+Salomon Jorge Maetinez That show is off-broadway! to be eligible for the tonys a show must be running, or have run on broadway. There are no news yet if Dear Evan Hansen is transferring to broadway, but if it does then it will be eligible next season :)
Dear Evan Hansen was off-Broadway therefore it was not eligible for Tony Awards. It is eligible for Drama Desk awards , outer critics circle awards, obies ect...
Hamilton Hamilton Hamilton Hamilton Hamilton Hamilton Hamilton Hamilton Hamilton Hamilton Hamilton Hamilton Hamilton Hamilton Hamilton Hamilton Hamilton Hamilton Hamilton That's all I heard
It’s been 4 years and I’m still not over them losing everything. Istg if it had been in 2017/any year that Hamilton wasn’t in they would’ve swept the tonys
Same if only it wasn't the same year as Hamilton which unpopular and just my opinion looking back at it now Hamilton was kinda overrated. Kinda wished Jessie Mueller or Sara Bareilles won their tony

AvalonMorley I understand what you're saying but Im not sure how much leeway there was.
thank you for saying this because honestly I'm sick of people raining on Hamiltons parade just because they have a talented cast and are being awarded for it (?) it's just so frustrating
Ikr there are also many that got a lot of nominees it's not only them and they all deserve positive comments

i would have been mad if Phillipa Soo was not Nominated
I just sat down and kept my ear open for anything Hamilton XD
*ears
That moment when 3 of the 5 nominees of Best Featured Actor on a Play are from Hamilton #YayHamlet
I think that it will go to either Daveed or Chris. I say that not cuz I don't love Groff, but he only has 9 minutes of stage time so they don't really show his character that much besides his 3 songs and his appearance in the reynolds pamphlet

Congratulations to all of the nominees, especially for those receiving their first nomination or a nomination for their Broadway debut.
Holy crap Andrew Rannells looks so happy with Michael Arden's name was announced!
Oh my gosh yes Michael Arden!!!!
So happy for Michael Arden!
Yay Hamlet!
Hell yeah Jonathan Groff!
Go HAMILTON!!!
I love how Nikki smiled when she said Michael's name.
I finally get to see this! I was so disappointed that I could not manage to log on the morning of the announcement
CONGRATS TO ALL THE NOMINEES, ESPECIALLY HAMILTON!!!!!!
HOPE HAMILTON WINS BEST MUSICAL :D :D :D
+Magitroopa (luigistar11) i don't really think u need to hope, lol!
Yeah, I've been calling it for awhile that they'll win Best Musical XD
MICHAEL ARDEN AND DAVEED DIGGS YAAAAAAAAASS
Tonight has to be Michael Arden's night !!!!! *praying* !
I would be happy if Hamilton won all 16 awards.
They actually can't even win them all, 'cause they are nominated more than just one time in some categories. They can win a total of 13 Awards.
there could be the unlikely event of a tie, however.
Jesse well well well
YES LOOK AT ALL THOSE HAMILTON NOMINATIONS.
Its almost a shame it didnt get more XD
HAMILTON FOR ALL
I'm so proud of Hamilton! It's an amazing play that is educational at the same time, and I find myself listening to it daily.
XD can we just talk about that they used Christopher jacksons old photo which was like when he was Benny in
In the heights
my children announcing my other children as nominees, what else could I ask for
Are you mormon trash too?
I can only imagine the relief for all of the nominees in a play. Probably thinking "thank f*ck we don't have to beat Hamilton in order to win our categories."
Ahahaha! So the person in charge of changing the slides was really trigger happy. #Listentoyourproducer
ANDREW & NIKKI ARE GOALS

+AvalonMorley Don't get your hopes up... Hamilton will sweep the wins. Well deservedly so too.

Funny how Andrew R. re-christened Santo Loquasto "Santino." Andrew's so cute, I just can't be miffed at him for it.
Wow! I'm so excited for Hamilton! I saw it a few months ago and it was just as amazing as everyone says!!!
Wow Lea Salonga got shunned. Low nominations for Allegiance. Aiming for Laura Benanti!! love her!! Hamilton is obviously going to dominate this year's Tony's. It's already a given.

they got the wrong year, I'm sorry for all the other shows of 2015/2016 against Hamilton
Their script coordinator needs to be fired. Announcers are talking to fast and the images are not in sync with the nominees.
as a huge fan of both hamilton and she loves me, the 2016 tony’s were a hard time for me
where Ben Patt stay and where to stay Dear Van Hansen❔❔❔❔❔❓❓❓❓❓❓
+Salomon Jorge Maetinez That show is off-broadway! to be eligible for the tonys a show must be running, or have run on broadway. There are no news yet if Dear Evan Hansen is transferring to broadway, but if it does then it will be eligible next season :)
