And the powers that be hit us back hard with police militarization and far right ideology hitting politics. Get ready, as a history major i give it less than 15 years.
The lyrics were inspired by the police brutality suffered by Rodney King and the subsequent 1992 Los Angeles riots. The refrain "some of those that work forces are the same that burn crosses".
Their messages are probably more relevant today than they were back then. Also, who remembers those crowds with NO SMARTPHONES? Those were the days, we were so lucky!
These guys made a naive 17 year old white boy from California learn about the racist history of policing in the United States. They influenced and educated an entire generation.
Same, but I was like 13 in Tennessee. I dove into the lyrics and then the history books. They played a huge part in turning me into an An-Com. 30+ years later, and despite the place in which I live, I haven't compromised an inch.
One of the most influential and powerful bands of our time...And Im almost 60. Message is always relavent sadly. Could run a country with the energy at their concerts. Thanx so much, take care, Peace
As an American, even with all that our country is going through I’m still proud to be from the U.S., but the only thing that truly scares me is how many Americans are afraid to face the reality of our past and in some respects our present. There are people in our nation hard at work trying to rewrite and candy coat past and present issues in our nation. Rage Against The Machine gave people a much needed hard ass slap of truth up side the head.
Was lucky enough to see them at the Download Festival along with 111,000 other fans, after they had topped the British Singles Chart at Xmas in 2009, after a social media campaign to keep Simon Cowell's X Factor winner off the No 1 spot. They were still amazing live, despite it being 18 years on from their debut album. The atmosphere for their Headlining set was absolutely electric. I was there with my mum & Dad along with several family friends and we loved every minute of their show. The ground was shaking as 111,000 people jumped in n unison and screamed the lyrics out word for word. It was a real gift to be there and to share that experience of musical joy, which contained as relevant a social message then, as the day the songs were originally written. The really sad thing is that the messages contained within the RATM songs are more needed and relevant today, a further 13 years later. We need bands like RATM to spread the message that societal change is needed and to fight against corporate greed and those who abuse their power and authority. Hoping RATM and others will continue to fight until we achieve the changes that will make society better and fairer for everyone.
This was the UK Xmas number 1 in 2012 thanks to an Internet petition to stop that year's Pop Idol winner getting to the top spot, like they had for about 4 years running. Funnily enough, it never gets played when radio stations have a run down of Xmas number ones. Wonder why?!😊
Hi guys, greetings from Seychelles,”bulls on parade “is definitely the next song. Zach della Rocca words are still relevant 30yrs later. Unique style guitarist Tom morello.
They made the anarchist philosophy more important than ever. We need to fight all form of oppression if we want to be free. And that means we the people, needs to be in charge and no one else. Abolish state & capital oppression that has its roots in slavery and leads to institutional racism & sexism.
I was 20 when this song came out. I loved jumping in a mosh pit. 51 now, but I'd still think about jumping in again if I ever come across one. So much fun. You can get injured pretty easy though.
Unfortunately this is my generation x who actually never understood the lyrics. RATM was calling for a revolution speaking truths while neo liberal policies pushed capitalism in over drive while the american middle class was hollowed out and now at the point of collapse. Hope the world is paying attention.
Legendary!!!!!!! Seriously very important!!! The crooked government, the crooked cops! Those who have vs those who don’t…. And on and on and on!!! This during the LA RIOTS!!!
How pleasant it is to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of those years when people didn’t faint from the expression “fuck you” and didn’t censor the word “ass”, we need to bring back the good old ultra-violence!
In every couple of months i swipe the YT to see new reactions to RATM songs... I love it when i see people understand... and TRULY understand their meaning and their rage. I think you understood it but somehow didn't get enraged. How? how can you comprehend and not get angry? Anyways... I am glad you heard them. They are awesome, political and painfully true.
Interesting ... REN and RATM are covering similar themes in their lyrics and with the passion behind the message. Bob Dylan did the same in the mid 60's . He spoke truth , but very directly. Where some artists use artistic / poetic modes to carry the message in a subtle way, all the above artists speak directly, clearly and with passion. The message carries through to the listener .

@@RNDReacts sorry, maybe I'm not in the majority....I'm not sure. I've seen them live, and am planning to see them again. They're amazing live!! But the sound quality is absolutely horrible in these videos from the 90s. My suggestion.....and I've seen many other people say the same thing.....go with lyric videos for RATM or Tool. Their message is far too important to miss!
@@thomasfosterjr.5247 Awesome! I can imagine it would be insane to see these guys in person! And we appreciate the suggestions! Will definitely check out some of the lyric videos and studio recordings, we appreciate the feedback Thomas, thanks for tuning in
@@RNDReacts also, this seems to be where people start with RATM....but it's not even CLOSE to their best song!! I hope you check out more. They have a fantastic collection!! "Know Your Enemy" is my personal favorite. Maynard from Tool has a cameo in that song. "Bulls on Parade" and "Down Rodeo" (not the cowboy rodeo, but California's Rodeo Drive) are probably their 2 most popular songs. But I think a lot of people miss their only cover song. They did "How I Can Just Kill A Man" from Cypress Hill....and I think they knocked it out the park!!! Way better than the original!! Anyway, hope to see more RATM soon.
Thanks for the recommendation! We've got an XG reaction dropping tomorrow and will have some more over the weekend and next week :) thanks for tuning in!
This is the music of revolution. This band led a whole generation to take their power back.

Give Know Your Enemy a go, incredible song by rage
I've had it on repeat for like 3 weeks lmao
Rage against the machine listen to Testify…If u haven’t already love ur content!
"Bulls on parade" "Wake Up" 'People of the Sun" "Guerilla Radio" are definitely a few u need to react to!
Just a quiet, peaceful dance
An anthem from the 90's. Album was huge here in the North of Ireland. We went crazy at parties listening to this tune, lots of bands covered it.

Thank you every time I say something they tell me i'm inappropriate but thank you I feel the same way
The below suggestion are spot on. Do a lyric video with them to see how powerful their message remains today.
When my BF bought this album as a teenager in the 90s his mom said "Rage Against the Machine? What? Like the dishwasher?" 😂
Loved the reaction and loving the comments section. Here to feel connected with the fans. RATM are singular.
The people in the hoods control the ropes that move us…”A Master makes you kneel…a Leader helps you stand.’ Know the Difference…
The singer Zack also has features on some rap albums. Ju$t by Run The Jewels might be a good one to react to.
love that #RATM #RTJ

Crowd surfing was it. 😂
The fact that she says "yeah it's too much" to Zach's passion kind of makes De la Roche's point. 'You're under control'

Haha they literally have a track called Wake Up and it's awesome
Zach’s polo the lowkey MVP.

Why are all the reaction channels afraid to speak about police brutality and racism? Do they fear that their channel might get censored or shut down?
