Bro i got to watch a live performance of this on queensryches promised land tour!! It was unbelievable man, just geoff tate singing and chris degarmo with a baby grand piano on stage! One of the best shows i have ever been to!! Thanks for checkin it out bro!! What a voice huh
Glad you connected with this emotionally like many of us have Mugs. I think it's a masterpiece and loved your reaction. Like others said there is a full band version with more lyrics but it doesn't hit the same way this version does.
Def check out the full band version. It also has additional lyrics. Cuts me so deep. My life journey with c-PTSD. Many of ours. Keep those heads up, ya'll! We endure. ❤️
Grew up in the suburbs so that’s how I know this. Yo there’s a later remastered version with the full band, guitars, drums and all. Do a comparison bruv or Operation Mindcrime 🤘🏾
This is my favorite Queensryche album and song! I grew up listening to them and Silent Lucidity is a great ballad… but this one tops it imo. Thanks Blitz! 🤛😎👍 🔥🌳🌬️💨
Wow first reaction to SOMEONE ELSE I've seen. Geoff's triumphant exit from the QR family. He saw the writing on the wall & the shift in the band without Chris' full dedication. Being able to put into song all your soul is magic whether it's a positive take or a negative take but Geoff accomplishes both here. Kudos to you for picking this one!
You had some very insightful thoughts and comments about the lyrics. I like that you take in the ENTIRE song and appreciate all the aspects of it. Someone else ( unintentional reference) in the comments said they preferred this stripped down version with just Geoff, singing rather rawly (as fits the song) and Chris DeGarmo on piano. I too like this version the most because its emotional impact is greater with minimal accompaniment. Love the piano too! So atmospheric. And I never knew Chris played the piano before this song came out! If you want to experience a very heavy, lyrically and musically superior tale from Queensryche, PLEASE consider listening to "OPERATION: MINDCRIME". It is an amazing and compelling concept album that is highly regarded. It's one long story told in flashback. It's one of those albums that evolves and changes with repeated listening. And you'll pick up new details each time you hear it. My favorites on this album have changed several times. There are clever hints and foreshadowing that occur throughout. I've been listening to it regularly for over three decades and it never gets old! Give it a try. Headphones on, lyric sheet in front of you, and a thank you card addressed to me to be mailed at the album's conclusion. ☺️
Fun fact- thry originslly intended thevwhole band to play on the song but they liked the demo with just piano and vocals so much they just recorded it that way for the album. Later on they actually did a full band version in concerts.
I’m one of the rare folks who actually prefers the full band version. It’s just feels like a cohesive band effort, not just a couple of guys doing everything.
When Promised Land was released, there were many die hard Queensryche fans that didn't like it, myself included. But, after about 3 months of forcing myself to listen to it, it became one of my favorite albums. It evokes a certain mood, that no other Queensryche album can. If I want to rock out, I'll listen to Mindcrime, The Warning, or Rage for Order, but I want to chill and lay back, I'll listen to Promised Land. Empire was a good bridge between Mindcrime and Promised Land. You could see how they were changing their sound. Anything after Promised Land is trash, unfortunately.
You're good. I've listened to this song a bunch of times. I never picked up on the Jung reference. Well done and thanks for sharing your insights. Stay awesome!
Good reaction video. I’m like you. I’m all about the lyrics. I’ve been playing with other musicians my whole life and sometimes they have no idea what the song is about. I mean, how do you get into the song or express the song if you don’t know, the emotion intended. Anyway, I subscribed thank you sir.
The older I get, the more this song hits me like a ton of bricks.
I remember seeing this when I was in like middle school and loving it at first listen. This specific video. Awesome reaction!
My favorite too
Have been listening to queensryche since mindcrime came out, still one of my favorite bands.
Great tune!

The saxophone and the bar scene… 🔥🔥🔥🔥
That show was amazing!
@@gurulimbo yes sir thats the one!!
One of the best bands I've ever seen live and I've seen tons of them I've seen queensryche about five times Geoff Tate sounds like that in concert
Love how much you analyze lyrics. Most just react to the music itself. Music takes you on a journey but good lyrics make you feel that journey.
Well said.

Finally!! I’ve asked reactors for years to check this out.
But did you SUb tho 😂
@@MugnifyRTS Always, If they do good reactions and I watch them through more then one video, such as yourself.

Check out Take Hold Of The Flame live in Tokyo. One of best live song ever recorded live. You won’t be disappointed

Mug reacting to a lesser-known song to a Ryche catalog shows this guy is for the music and not for the trend and clicks.
I prefer this version 👍 but FYI there is a "Full Band Version" also 😉
This one is much more powerful imo.

You talked about prophetic lyrics on another video, see what you think of this from 1982, Judas Priest "Electric Eye"; seems like a warning.
Queensryche has Spreading The Disease and Empire.
One more time around is a good one, same band
Anybody listening as well!!
