I am a tamilian,but living in Bengaluru for 55 years. Whenever I listen to this song my memory goes back to college days. What a composition in the starting strings violin how beautifully sounds and what a sober acting by Rajkumar. Unforgettable.
I have always thought that after Meena kumari in Bollywood film industry and Ingrid Bergman in Hollywood film industry,Kalpana was most versatile, most talented and most popular female actor known for mesmerizing acting performances.She truly deserve the highest place in kannada film industry. At one time she used to play rural characters easily and effortlessly and at the same time she performed urban characters with equal proficiency and intensity.She was perhaps the only female actor in kannada film industry who could perform such an impeccable feat.Her screen presence, innocence,charm,smile, performance, dialogue delivery,body language and proficiency of art of acting made everyone mesmerized.Her performances attracted attention of all kinds of movie lovers from all the nooks and corners of country instead of their caste,creed, culture, language,costume,social status and environment. I tried listening to just the song of this video but it is impossible for simple reason of amazing expressions of these 2. Annavaru has greatly downplayed and uses his eyes to a great effect to portray his feelings. Kaplana gets 10/10 in acting out as a loving wife who is deeply devoted to her husband.According film director Bhagwan the shirtless shot deliberately used to show the great physique of Dr.Raj who by that time 45 years old.
I personally feel kalpana was ahead of all other actresses that time, though her career span was only 15 years,she had garned critical acclaim with her powerful roles! people talk about dr raj -bharathi pair, but dr raj kalpana pair was also equally magical! kalpana also deserved much greater roles after bayalu daari......😔sad state!
