Never watched this race until now and I was gutted as well. KS is my favorite rider, as a kid in the states we never got to see these races until now, we just read about them and saw the pictures and video highlights if we were lucky.

Goose bumps watching King Carl on that Cagiva, still one of the best looking bikes ever in motoGP-racing. I'm sure if he would have had the chance to prepare himself more into 500cc two-stroke racing and working with that team, he would have had a good chance to win this race.
I was there that year, never missed the GP or WSB rounds for a long time, Great racing massive crowds and if you camped it was mayhem with bottle fights, naked women riding around on bikes or just walking about, fireworks in the shape of huge rockets often fired at police choppers, vans on fire, dutch madmen firing a football out of a milk churn, the list is endless. Feel sorry for you youngsters lol

25 years later and the pole time is just under 7 seconds slower than the current WSBK lap record. Very impressive considering how tire technology has come along. The extra grip alone is worth this time disparity. 500cc two strokes rule!!!!

The average age of a motorcycle rider in the USA is 50, and rising. It's a huge problem. The safety-mom ninnies won't let their precious babies ride in the dirt, let alone race. I'm doubtful that electric bikes will make any difference as they'll be too expensive, and let's be honest - even starter dirt bikes are $4-5k now! AMA is nothing but a shell of its former self.

I can't say I've ever heard the word before today, I've only heard "podium", or maybe I just never paid attention. All that aside, it's cool to hear all the familiar racer's names from when I first got interested in motorcycling, which would be '90 (had posters of all the super bikes, multiple moto mag subscriptions with all the stats memorized, and I'd flip out like a Beatles or Elvis fan when any of the big 4 were spotted on the road), got my first motorcycle in '93. I still ride year-round (no car by choice) with only two minor hospitalizations. Like the old saying goes: "There are bold riders and there are old riders, but there aren't old bold riders." Be safe out there kids. You wanna ride like these guys (or feel like it), buy a track day and leave the racing there, not out on the street.

Such a shame that Carl Fogarty had that issue. To be able to ride that bag of shite and have a podium (if not for the fuel mishap) with practically zero experience is very impressive indeed. Niall gets a lot of praise but I think Carl was a little more talented and could have won in GPs. Is there another rider since Fogarty that’s been a world champion that’s won the TT or road circuits?
That was an intense championship battle: Kevin crashed in practice (after having set a pole lap that was a second faster than anyone else) and fractured his wrist which harmed him for the rest of the season because his hand got numb after some time (he later on admitted the injury didn't come from the race incident). At the same time, Wayne had highsided in practice and banged his head so bad that he had no depth perception and couldn't pass anyone on the race track. None of them said a word 'cause they didn't want to give the other rider a psychological advantage (not even Wayne's team was aware of the situation). Both were far from being ready to race, but both went for it. Simply because they couldn't live with giving it away to the other one. Amazing competitors! :)

I watched some of the Joey Dunlop onboard footage from back in the day at the IOM recently. The camera he had on the bike was like having a watermelon strapped to the tank. Not sure how he even rode it. 😂 Technology certainly has come a long way.

So very rare to hear old race lessons anymore, I went to several Race Schools and I had a former National Superbike Champion as one instructor and that was some of the advice / wisdom he handed down,...and it is true and it works,...." In Slow / Out Fast", thanks for sharing your wisdom,....I raced for 10 years after going to School,....even the slow racers are damn Fast!!!

Foggy apparently went from adjusting his forks preload at one point (pretty sure you wouldnt do this while racing) to adjusting his rear shock, again is that even possible while riding?? Ive never heard of a rear shock adjuster on the handle bars! I would say he was more than likely adjusting hus front brake.😂😂😂

ルカはずっと様子を見ていてメルボルンヘアピン付近は少し距離を取りつつ高速コーナーでは簡単に追いつく。そしてラスト2ラップになったらコーナーで抜いて引き離す!
ウェインは抜かれたらペースを落として安全にフィニッシュ🎉
そしてニールは中盤ではウェインとほぼ同じタイムで詰めて最後に華麗にカールを刺して表彰台🎉
カールもカジバであそこまで走れる事が奇跡的!
最後にオマケで表彰台裏にバリーがニールに話し掛けていてとても貴重な映像😮
序盤のクラッシュは残念だけどとても貴重なレースを観られました。

In his book ( Foggy, ref page 179) Fogarty states that " I had run out of fuel. It was probably due to my style,whipping up the throttle as I changed down the gears,which had used up more fuel than normal."

I remember this just like it was yesterday and it wasn’t as the maggot talking head was saying, in fact it was a mechanical failure placed squarely on the Mechanics as Doohan had no brakes which he discovered while braking. These races were so much better when Daryl Eastlake & Barry were calling them!
What drugs was Steve Parish sucking on that day?? Foggy apparently went from adjusting his forks preload at one point (pretty sure you wouldnt do this while racing) to adjusting his rear shock, again is that even possible while riding?? Ive never heard of a rear shock adjuster on the handle bars! I would say he was more than likely adjusting hus front brake.😂😂😂
