I remember this.Brings back great memories of Mark Rigsby Jo Sylvie and myself on Sundays watching the Moto GPs. They were great times with Rocket Ron still brilliant despite no longer having a top works Honda. Rainey had big elephant bottle, a true great but wow Cadalora was on fire. It showed how great Fogarty and Mackenzie were .Foggy didn't have the best Japanese bikes and to do so well on Gagiva wastruely fantastic.
Steve Parrish was pretty good on the commentary. Good for people who don’t know much about bikes like me!
Amazing! Out of all these icons of motorcycle racing, Jeremy McWilliams is still racing! He raced this year in the MotoAmerica series! Also, I never knew Matt Mladin raced in the world GP series, he dominated AMA Superbike for a number of years. And by dominated I mean won the championships…for years. He was a machine. It’s also strange to hear them refer to him as “Mike” Doohan.
What a start by Rainey! And then keeping that pace, but Cadalora was just faster in this race, great victory for him.
Parrish the rat 🐀 ..
Schwantz qualified a full second faster than anyone else.......
Such a shame that Carl Fogarty had that issue. To be able to ride that bag of shite and have a podium (if not for the fuel mishap) with practically zero experience is very impressive indeed. Niall gets a lot of praise but I think Carl was a little more talented and could have won in GPs. Is there another rider since Fogarty that’s been a world champion that’s won the TT or road circuits?
Carl deserves credit for TT wins definitely. But better than Mackenzie? On a 500 2 stroke? Nah.
Jamie Whitam ….👍👌🇮🇲😉
Can't stand that fooking idiot Steve parrish spouting out of him
Remember Alex Barros. 😮
What drugs was Steve Parish sucking on that day?? Foggy apparently went from adjusting his forks preload at one point (pretty sure you wouldnt do this while racing) to adjusting his rear shock, again is that even possible while riding?? Ive never heard of a rear shock adjuster on the handle bars! I would say he was more than likely adjusting hus front brake.😂😂😂
I remember this just like it was yesterday and it wasn’t as the maggot talking head was saying, in fact it was a mechanical failure placed squarely on the Mechanics as Doohan had no brakes which he discovered while braking. These races were so much better when Daryl Eastlake & Barry were calling them!
👍🤝🇲🇨
No. 7 the best racing I've seen
F*ck me Foggy could ride. People forget about this race. He was awesome on 2 strokes.
13:47. A comment my wife sometimes makes to me applies to Doohan here. “What were you thinking!!”. I still hear Kevin bring this crash up during interviews after retirement.
❤️❤️❤️
WOW that was awesome and my favorite Niall Mackenzie livery on the bike and leathers, it is just to bad the torpedo did it again like in Suzuka.
Awesome race enjoyed watching
Rostrum!!!!
That was an intense championship battle: Kevin crashed in practice (after having set a pole lap that was a second faster than anyone else) and fractured his wrist which harmed him for the rest of the season because his hand got numb after some time (he later on admitted the injury didn't come from the race incident). At the same time, Wayne had highsided in practice and banged his head so bad that he had no depth perception and couldn't pass anyone on the race track. None of them said a word 'cause they didn't want to give the other rider a psychological advantage (not even Wayne's team was aware of the situation). Both were far from being ready to race, but both went for it. Simply because they couldn't live with giving it away to the other one. Amazing competitors! :)
bad move by plate #7.. he had 2 locked, I bet Marlboro really chewed him a new one muchless the club master.. man he took the GP points lead from the his team mate, what a DOOSH! any wonder we never heard from that dood? you just don't do that when you're not competing for the title, you let your teammate get those crucial points.. dummy. the title lead is psychological.. good grief
I was there.. I rode up on my then brand new RGV250P, and my mate on his KR-1S
what a race for Mackenzi with factory engine!!
It was irritating me the one announcer continued to say Mike Doohan instead of his actual name Mick. And the other announcer even said 'Mick' and the other guy just couldn't get it...lol.
Rainey was a beast !Had he not been injured during this 1993 season he would have won more titles and Schwantz wouldn't have any...he won this year after Rainey's career ending accident,
If Doohan hadn't knocked Schwantz out of this race Kevin probably would have been on the podium, and maintained his pts. lead. Therefore Schwantz probably would have been leading the points at the time the Rainey crash. Not Kevin's fault Wayne crashed later! Schwantz might have won the title in '94 if not for a nagging wrist injury, I bring that up since you made excuses for Rainey!
Melhor época da Motovelocidade. Top demais 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Butterfly wings, eh. If you really think about it, had Doohan avoided this accident Wayne Rainey might also not be paralyzed. Not that I'm saying it's his fault at all that it happened to Rainey. Just funny how one bad thing inadvertently might cause another.
Marlboro, Lucky Strike, Rothmans...almost makes me want to start smoking again.
Do it. Be a man.
Pair of Muppets, couldn't tell Cadalora could have passed him anytime he felt like it LOL. clowns.
Aye, Foggy ran out of fuel
Doohan the bowling ball.
@4:32 Força Brasil!!! When will we have a Brasilian become GP champion..? A kind of partial Brasilian in Franco Morbidelli okay!!!
Doohan is stup*d
King Carl without fuel!!!
Anyone reliving this during covid19??
Like an episode of Crimewatch with Emmett and Mladin...i was there(approx 1.02.50 in),had i known what the future held...
Geez, I could buy a pretty nice dinner if I could have a dollar for every time they said "rostrum." I can't say I've ever heard the word before today, I've only heard "podium", or maybe I just never paid attention. All that aside, it's cool to hear all the familiar racer's names from when I first got interested in motorcycling, which would be '90 (had posters of all the super bikes, multiple moto mag subscriptions with all the stats memorized, and I'd flip out like a Beatles or Elvis fan when any of the big 4 were spotted on the road), got my first motorcycle in '93. I still ride year-round (no car by choice) with only two minor hospitalizations. Like the old saying goes: "There are bold riders and there are old riders, but there aren't old bold riders." Be safe out there kids. You wanna ride like these guys (or feel like it), buy a track day and leave the racing there, not out on the street.
I was the same exactly! Hope ur well👍🏽
What a time to have been young. There is something about riding a bike that makes you feel alive.
I tried it and didn't like it. The armour clothing made me too hot, helmets are cumbersome and they're too dangerous. One mistake and you could end up dead or in a hospital bed.
Let's be fooking right , foggy just needed a full season with testing and all the other guff and he would've be a force 👊 if he'd managed to secure a ride people would've said how lorenzo rides like foggy 👊
Also would've been embarrassed for that 3rd if i was Mackenzie 🤣
Sorry but no.
Remember the interview after the race, Kenny was furious about Luca taking points away from wayne
Iv still got a 93 gp valvoine t shirt. Well used thought😂
And Schwantz winds up World Champion for 1993.
anyone see 1:18 Doohan and Cadalora with identical lap times?
Miss the buzz boxes.
It's not the easiest bike to ride - Carl Fogarty
He's right, the 500cc 2 bangers were vicious monsters, not a fact you could percieve by playing video games.
I met mcwilliams in brno 2012,he is still pretty fast i can tell you.
