What a disappointing movie to what was an overall decent series of movies, I would not watch another one if the same director, and "creative team" were part of a follow up movie. The problem with GVS, as with almost every film revision of anything 'classic' (wait for it) is that these films are made to please people like you, and me. That's it. They're made to 'serve fans' of genre, to get us to spend money. Nothing else. They're not re-visions of classic genre because there is no vision to speak of involved; how can it be when 90% of the creative process has been done, over 30 years ago? A production company hires a studio to hire a director to hire a writer, and this is what we get. Try an experiment... Take out a pen and paper and write down every film in the last 20 yrs that is an 'original' film, with an original concept, an original theme. Then write down every film in another column that a re-hash of something old. Everything from the Flintstones, to the Honeymooners to Halloween. ALL of it is from the 1930's to the 1960's. And with the new generation just pick up from the 70 through the 89's (ala Ghostbusters). Scorcese is right 100%
You said your a fan but your not. Im going to tell you something you disagree of a movie doesn't make you smarter or a credible movie review. Your channel is not all that great.
Man grow up, that film was awesome you call yourself a Godzilla fan? More like fanboy, the only Godzilla films you should rant about is Godzilla's Revenge and Son of Godzilla, now those are worst Godzilla films but you make your own choice
I just watched the movie for a third time.Yes I agree the pacing is way too fast lol, it's an all over the place roller coaster. *I like King of the Monsters,* better lol. Wow we finally get rid of the humans but now we don't even get as much/if any monster action. Oh brother let's not start with the humans. They should have killed off Gina to make Kong reach his full potential... What was the point of keeping the actor at the post credit of king of the monsters alive if he's not going to show up in this movie? Aside from that, I only have two problems with the movie. 1. That they need to team up against something that isn't a life ending threat to Gojira (he would have won on his own, this is proven by the fact that the whole mission to the hollow Earth is to find a power *EQUIVALENT* to Gojira). Oh how I wish to have seen them team up against something that's actually worth it example Destroyah. 2. Kong versus the Warbat. I believe Kong would have escaped and defeated the Warbat, but for some reason they needed to add the humans there to save him. Making him look incredibly weak... He is supposed to be the main contender for Gojira lol. I also agree that Adam Wingard is an idiot. He complains that a two-hour movie is too long yet we get absolutely nothing on the Titan war. So much false advertising on the war between The Gojira and the Kong species. If the MonsterVerse doesn't continue this is a pretty terrible ending... 😭😭😭
@Cole Reviews i understand that people hype this movie up simply because it godzilla vs kong and the fights are uncut and visually pleasing but i personally like more depth to a godzilla movie and for the pacing to not be rushed as hell, with an amazing soundtrack too which is what kotm was, plus gvk completely abandons any realism or weight that the prev movies had which is what sets the monsterverse apart from the older movies and even most modern day action films but sadly gvk has ruined that. which is why i think that its a fun action film but as a monsterverse film it is very disappointing
@Cole Reviews godzilla 2014 i give 4.5/10 mainly because there is not enough action we wait 1 hour to see godzilla and then they skip the fight entirely cut to a little kid watching it on tv saying "mommy look dinosaurs" and they skip every fight scene that was perfectly built up plus the main family was boring except for joe brody but he dies far to early also its too dark
@Cole Reviews one franchise that is not doing so well is the jurassic franchise especially with the last film being the horrible train wreck that was fallen kingdom
Lol not surprising in the least. I gave up on Hollow Wood a long time ago I just go back to the 70's - 90's to rewatch nostalgic good movies with good stories and characters. @Alex JG not really. Would any of you rather there hadn't been modern godzilla movies? If the answer is anything but NO ranting about it lile this is just childish. New life to the fandom won't hurt even if the movie is not exactly what you wanted
@Alex JG the movies aren't perfect but were the originals even perfect? In time these will no doubt gain a cheesy charm. I was really let down with KOTM but this isn't the definitive godzilla. This is one of the many incarnations and you kinda have to take the good with the bad. 2014 was really good but it focused to little on the monsters, KOTM completely ruined the dark gritty tone by having people act like idiots and talking straight up bullshit but hey, you kinda need some of the stupid elements in order to tell the story. I wish the movie were different but it really doesn't deserve all the harsh criticism. Ps: Mechagodzilla looks like a dumb metal snek with useles hands. There's literally dozens of better designs online made by fans for Legendary Mechagodzilla but they went with this goofy shit. Still an entertaining movie and a decent entry in the series, even if only to setup stuff sequels. This movie opens the doors to MechaGhidora and possibly MOGUERA. Same way KOTM introduces the possibility of space kaiju. The series is going fine, think of this like the iron man 3 of the mcu. I did see this movie the other day and it was a bit of a disappointment I wasn't a fan of the film I thought it had some decent moments as I could think about it now the film not going to Age Well on me.
Watching GvK I was struck by several things. First this is not the first film to display this particular point but it is the most recent so I want to draw attention to it. Why is it that White women (as we see in this film) will side with ANYONE (or THING) against a White Man? In this case when the Skarsgard character approaches the White Woman about having Kong lead them to Hollow Earth, she INSTANTLY sides with the creature over not just White men/people but over people in general. She has to PROTECT Kong, she says. Even if that means HUMANS all die? I saw this trend beginning way back in the film Cabin in the Woods. In that film, at the end, the beta male has what would be a simple choice die himself to prevent the monsters from being unleashed and say humanity, or selfishly wait to die at the hands of one of the monsters when they got loose. Either way he was going to die. The White woman with him told him to wait. She was ready to sacrifice humans in favor of monsters. This trend can be seen in many many other films since then, but it is always the same trope. Either a White woman sides with the 'attacker' against humans--in the name of UNDERSTANDING the monster, or letting the monster 'Protect' itself, as in this film--or she talks the beta male into letting the humans die at the hands of the monster. I just wonder HOW vulnerable have White Women made the Western World in real life.
I'll make a response to your really awful review. Mainly addressing the vs part because it seem you never watched any godzilla films from the showa era

@Alex JG And those happen to be some of the most entertaining flims in the franchise. Not everything has to be high art or realistic in the slightest.
