My Dad retired to Blackpool so I occasionally visited him there, but didn't really enjoy the town. But after he died in 1984 my wife and I only went about every other year, after an afternoon there we realised why we hadn't been for such a long time. But I might venture to suggest that many towns and cities are run down and depressing places to visit, especially 'touristy' places as people don't seem to visit and spend their hard earned money as much as they once did.
I was the central police station too as well as courts. It looks like something out of Dredd Comics, something dystopian. To be fair I've seen that design in other towns.
i have lived in blackpool for 45 years. i love the town. your shots of the tower and prom made the town look wonderful. even after 45 years i still get excited when I walk down the prom and I feel lucky to be able to do it every day if I wanted to. of course there are run down parts but show me the town that doesn't have them, also you have to remember that we get lots of lowlifes from many townss and cities to add to our own dossers. when I go abroad i always wear an item of clothing with blackpool on it. its a great conversation starter. people always want to tell you what a great holiday they had there and talk about blackpool memories. great video Charlie.

Sorry Charlie, I know you don't live too far from Blackpool, but A couple of years ago, I thought I'd treat my good wife and myself to a long bank holiday weekend in Blackpool, never been before, but thought "what the hell" After about a 5 hour hour drive up, getting all excited to be having a break. Sadly, the excitement ended for us very quickly upon arriving. At first, we thought "bit of a s'hole"....But, after a few hours of meandering around, we had changed our minds, we thought "Whaaaat a fuuu**ing S'hole, worse than Margate!". I copped an earful of abuse from the Missus for taking her there, and duly booked out our B&B the next morning, cutting short our stay, and making our way home. Never been to Accrington or Oldham before, but if anything like Blackpool, we'll be giving a wide berth!
The toilets are like a fortress now, because previously, they had issues with homeless kids sleeping in them, and degenerates preying on them. These were known as the 20p toilets. The BNP highlighted this along with Charlene Downes.

Hello, my girlfriend and I were assaulted by the Manchester Police - they unlawfully arrested me for something I didn't do (because of a petty accusation from a neighbour which was a lie and later my neighbour even apologised. Quick recap on the situation, the neighbour was looking through my bedroom window when my girlfriend and I were half naked, and I shouted for him to get away, specifically "Move you perv" then he accused me of being racist to the police). Some time later, 4 massive police officers entered my property forcefully through the window and unlawfully took my phone. I was detained for about 24hrs and NFA'd of course because I did nothing wrong. During the arrest, one of the police officers pushed my girlfriend to the ground because she was recording and siezed the phone, when we got the phone back we found the footage of him pushing her in the gallery recycling bin. When we reported it to the Inspector Detective he said there's nothing they can do and the officers were doing their job.
Re the Free Toilets. There is frequently a problem with 'young people' entering these premisis & for 'fun' they seem to 'like' to vandalise these venues.
Still some lovely beaches and places around Blackpool. The centre is run down apart from the main prom. There is £300m project about to be invested in redevelopment as a recreation and leisure centre. House of Jokes hasn’t closed down - same with the air sports shop next to it. They are still open - not sure what time you were filming. Blackpool is no different to many UK seaside towns - lack of investment and people traveling abroad has killed those little Guest houses. I live outside blackpool and suggest Lytham, Poulton to go to for places to eat etc. Cleveleys Beach in summer is Amazing. Avoid central blackpool
That Town Hall was beautiful inside the detail of the wooden Bannister and the fittings was such a contrast to the desolation outside. I can't believe those toilets!! Imagine if you were bursting and you didn't have 40p 😂

The first few minutes of your video was of buildings that are going to be knocked down for a new tourist event, if you want trees Blackpool has hundreds at Stanley park and a Zoo. The court house is being re built elsewhere and the old one is being knocked down as part of the tourist entertainment feature. If you come to Blackpool outside of the tourist season you will see lots of places with their metal blinds down. Blackpool was heaving on November the 25th and the Blackpool by the sea Christmas event opposite the tower is excellent.
I always use the back entrance of coral Island to gain entry to free toilets instead of using them toilets on bonny Street car park and I think anybody with sense would do the same 😂 🇬🇧 🏴
