Story Of F-15 Eagle's First Kill By The Israeli Air Force

- Did you know when did the the F-15 achieved its first ever kill? Well the story starts on the morning of June 2nd, 1979, when four Syrian mig-21 fishbed interceptors crossed into Israeli airspace for a surprise attack. Four Israeli F-15s were on a routine petrol at the time, and were quickly informed regarding the Migs. Retired brigadier general Mosha Marom Melnik was in one of the F-15s and didn't know he was about to score the F-15's firstever kill. The dogfight takes place 30 miles north of the Israeli border. Melnik locks the mig and fires, and the mig easily escapes the missile. Melnik was now the target of Mig-21s, and he was in a do or die situation! According to Melnik, he decided not to use radar this time but his eyes to engage the mig, because the horizon was very clear that morning. The MiG and F-15 were getting close very fast, and Melnik decided to launch this missile called Python-3. Melnik sets his aim and fires the missile, and the mig gets hit, as you can see in this actual footage of that combat. All this aerial engagement happened in less than 30 seconds.

The year was 1979, and I already mentioned this in the beginning of the video, so what's the point of highlighting?

Not possible, the the F15's first flight was in 1972!
1979
Migs said to have crossed the Israeli border. BUT dogfight was said to be 30 miles north of the Syrian border. Makes me wonder if the Israelis crossed the Syrian border. Hmmmmmm.
F-15, one bad ass jet fighter. Still flying.
Such an amazing Aircraft
An amazing aircraft indeed, but remember - at the end of the day it's ALWAYS the pilot flying it that counts.
If you really want to know why - ask me.
F15 is like Jordan in the finals ..........
The point of highlighting this video is to say that No F15 Eagles were even glown until early 1974, and even then: They were still in testing.
Wooow, in pess than 30 sec. That's was so fast
That day had a kill with every one of the F-15's weapon systems. Had a fox-3, a fox-2, and a gun kill.
My fvrt fighter is f-15 Because of its shape that is similar to eagle
I never knew that the first kill wasn't an American pilot who made it.
Wow, you have to admit that the F1T is one hell of a plane. I wonder what the difference is between the original F15 and the new F15EX?
Technology and bigger payload as it can hold a lot more missiles and bombs
The F-15 didn't exist in 1967. So that discredits this entire story
It boggles my mind how that's possible IN A DOGFIGHT
To be honest, if you’re in an F-15 and you lose to a mig-21, you deserve to go down.
Luke, you switched off your targeting computer. What's wrong?
100yrs later and it's still all about the pilot
No scoped 💀
F-15 = SKUNKED × INFINITY
Migs are second gen vs 4+gen plane...that not impress me at all
Israel has the first second and third kills. Also probably close to 80% of the 100 kills of the 15.
What is the kill percentage against American navil personal.
Remember the USS LIBERTY!
Not to speak of Israeli air space there is even no country named Israel. It's occupied Palestine.

Your story line doesn't add up the f15 first flights in the early 70s scared the shit out of my mother. She hadn't seen them or heard them yet. She hadn't ever seen a plane take off and a go straight up after take off...
The F-15 is still the coolest looking fighter.
Get your facts straight. The F-15 did not enter service until 1974. So, if the MiG incursion happened in 1967, the F-15 was not operational yet
So 30 seconds of combat takes around a minute to tell about

The narrator dates this as "1967". I understand that the McDonnell Douglas F-15A Eagle USAF Air Su- periority Fighter initially became op- erational in the 1970s. I do not know when the Israeli Defense Force first acquired theirs, though it would have to be after the USAF had.
There was an engagement four ship Israeli Eagle flight where every single weapon carried that sortie scored a kill. Radar guided, heat seeking, and even the gun.
That's what practice does makes you quick. Pilots half to be very very quick
What crap. In 1967 there were no f-15 and no python missiles. The best fighter the IAF had was the French-made Mirage 3. The IAF had no American made fighter jets then.
And thats how a legendary kill rate was born.

Not true! The F-15 did not even exist in 1967! F-15 came around 1978-79.
You need to open eyes my buddy, and watch the video once again.
A mig 21 vs a F-15 that's funny shit.
F15 did not enter service until late 1970s
Mig21 vs F15? That’s really not a fair fight
F-16 was not in the airforce in 1967
30 miles north of the Israeli border...
The mig 21 and the f 15 is not a match, the f 15 is superior in every way
Back in 1967 Israel air force was flying French mirrage3's
Also Skyhawk and Super Mystere, while poor Syrian pilots were flying a Scrab of Mig 17 and Mig 19 I believe.
@@ManFromMars690 The Mirrage was back then a riddle..a 'new kid on the block' -no combat experiance while the arab armies were supplied by the USSR with an improvement of the well proven Mig15(the Vietnam war).In the 60's the U.S refused sending weapons to Israel so approach was made to France who came to Israel's aid.The 'lovie dovie'-U.S.A/Israel began in late 68,69 and then ISR started getting F4's and Skyhauks

not using the targeting computer, just like Luke in Star Wars.
If the 21's had the 15's wings, I think it'd be the better jet fighter. But BARELY. Still a win though
Just read the Iron Eagle is getting a few upgrades. Love these old school made of brass ass planes.
Wow! F15's in Vietnam!
So you are saying Syrian MIGs crossed the border, and at the same time saying that the F-15 met them 30 miles North from the Israeli air space?
Why can Israel go into other countries and say its for defence and others cannot? Never got it... do they have some kind of exemption?
Because they were in Israeli airspace, so the f15 had permission to shoot them down outside of Israeli territory
Seriously 1967 😂💔🙏 but the Subtitles show 1976
104 kills kills against 0 losses. The truth is US never accept their battle field losses. 😝😝😝😝

That's why F-15 called the undefeated eagle and never been and they call it MIG killer and SU punisher that's why not even Russian can counter it so they bully his little brother F-16😂😂😂
Shot by Yemini, guerrillas, I heard.

It absolutely is a well put together aircraft but the real threat is the pilot. Don't mess with Israel.

F 15 made in 1972

Wow mig 21 vs the f 15
The Python did not exist yet at that time. It was an earlier missile.
Your video said 1967. The F15 was introduced until 1976z
It is very important to use accurate info to establish credibility. A honest mistake in reporting can harm a reputation.
F15 is a pretty plane.
F15s lost against russian SU-27s in 1992 after the soviet union collapse the us invited russian active fighter pilots for a dogfight training, the fight had 8 combat situations, 4 where the f15 was chasing the SU-27s 4 where they switched positions, the russian jets one 8 of 8 fights. So much to no losses huh, american paper tigers.
Did you know of the first F-15 shot down? Yemen rebels shot down a Saudi F-15 using a Soviet era SAM-2.
