Thank you for your wonderful lessons about opals in the past! I saw a black opal for sale, about 1.5 carats. for only $58. I figured it had to be lab-created, and I studied the stone carefully. I did see a repeat in the pattern that looked like the letter 'M'.I knew from the low price it had to be lab-created, but due to your excellent lessons, I was able to see other reasons for it being a fake. Thanks a lot, Justin!
A man not afraid of of sharing his knowledge is rare like the opals. I am so happy to be subscribed to this channel. You sir, are a rare Gem. Your knowledge is the final shine handed down from your father. So amazingly precious. Thank you for doing your videos.
I am so glad that you posted this. We all got our wishes granted. Opal cutting AND the zoom. Winner, winner, Chicken dinner!!!!! 😁👏👏👏👏👏👍 Greetings from Dimboola in Victoria, Australia.
Wohooooo! It's Justin! I'm a collector and GIA student from LA. Just want to say how much we appreciate your openess and sharing nature, so gem lovers from afar (like me) can share in the joy of the natural world!
This video was amazing! Thank you Brantford Lapidary & Mineral Society and you Justin!! So much information and such fun to watch. Love it when Justin spends so much time smiling!
This is the best Opel vid I have seen and there is a lot of people out there that have been waiting a long time to see ! You come across very well and easy to flow .
Thank you Justin! I'm so excited to receive the opal that I just ordered from your shop. I've always dreamt of having a black opal for a ring. Now, you're making my dream come true. I'll treasure your work and that of the opal miner. Many, many thanks! Take care, Rebecca
Thank you Justin ! You just make the opal world a better place ❤ all my knowledge come from you and you are the one who gave me this opal fever you were explaining 😅 Can't wait to put my hands on rough opal and start going threw this magical lifestyle. Thanks for everything, really ❤ Greeting from France
This is a great video Justin. I like all the explanations about all the different types at once. Also the place’s that they came from. Thank you for sharing this with us.
This is so good, thank you for posting it. It may sound weird but I'm pregnant for the first time and experiencing some cramps that render me useless, I really needed this to keep my mind focused away from negative emotions and be able to stay in bed for a while. Thaaaank you! I love this channel ❤️
Omg these stones r amazing ur videos r great the way u explain things is really easy to understand I wish England had these stones so I could dig up just a little one keep the video s coming love them
This was such a good and informative video Justin. You are a very knowledgeable chap and great the way you explain everything. Thank you for sharing this
Hi de Hi Justin and fellow Canucks from up here in Georgian Bay - I follow every video of Justin's I can find. Absolutely fascinating and he is a total gem - worth his weight in opal carats! :-)
How did i not know this was happening! I'm so close in Toronto! Though I'd be asking some questions that would take a long time to explain and this would have been twice as long haha.
So only black opals exist in Australia right? Places that sell black Ethiopian or Brazilian are just black crystal? I keep seeing seller sell them as black opals. But I notice they are extremely dark but if you shine a light its still transparent. So these are not true black opal because of the lack of dark potch right? Oh my Lordy! When you think you've seen every possible beautiful opal then all of a sudden you pull out a star opal! I didn't even know there was such a thing! Amazing!
Justin has also shown us its very easy to fake a black crystal opal by smoking it, always buy from a trusted source...its hard to know forsure if its really black Ethiopian or if its just smoked Ethiopian without seeing it in person..if a deal online is too good to be true, its probably a scam.
I understand this was three years ago. Couldn't pass up telling you my name is Dewayne too😂 I'm definitely not as pretty as your Dewayne 😢... Loved the interview
Polishing with the 3000 wheel sometimes is okay but geez dont expect to get rid of "stuff" on the surface, I also use a wool felt, foam pads are magnets for particules and you can't get them out...
That was great, thankyou. I think next time you do something like this, you should split the video into shorter subject posts. That way you have content in reserve if you go on holidays or can't post for some reason. Love your work!
Hahaha, Opal Fever, it's so true. You can get obsessed with a beautiful stone, and sometimes I honestly have to hold myself back from pestering the hell out of you with questions and thoughts about a given opal after a video. However I am a very private person and would HATE someone doing that to me so if I ever start to email you, it will be business related I promise. :)
I would think the members of the club know electricity enough to be able to have a 240vac outlet installed for those machines. Expensive shipping the machines though.
i wish u upload videos every day because when i watch your videos ill get boost up and i can cut my stones for houers, some times i watch your videos that ive seen so i get energy from them then sitting behind the wheel❤️❤️🤭🤭
Justin, Thank you for putting this on the RUclips channel, I learned a tremendous amount. Just getting into trying to cut opal and I am having trouble getting white opals to polish well. Any tricks or tips to make that go better?? If they are wet, the color is amazing, but I can't seem to get the haze off when polishing.
Hi Justin, I wish you could send me even just a very little opal. How I wish I could have touched and seen it for real since there is no opal here in the Philippines. Your videos are so amazing and the opal really made my day.
Watch some of BOD cutting videos, i promise you will be biting your finger nails off, them you will be blinded by the opals.Jason is at the pinical of opal cutting imo....saving most of this video for morning coffee.....9pm in pommy land now.
Hey Justin, Thanks for this video; i am watching it right now and it is very interesting. I noticed that there seems to be a face of a man/woman facing forward in the blue broad flash Black opal you re showing around 20:55 and before... Very beautiful ; yet a tiny bit spooky... 🙉😅🙈
Excellent video Justin. I was just wondering about natural black opal and well made doublets , do some doublets ever get sold as black or is it hard to reproduce that natural potch layer. ?
Hey Justin, I'm from British Columbia, Canada. Apparently there is an opal mine in Vernon. Are you aware of this mine and the type of opal mined? I hope you can help me out with this. I have some bolder opal . I noticed that one of my smaller pieces of bolder opal is losing its color for some reason. Is there a way to get the color back?

Excellent video Justin. I was just wondering about natural black opal and well made doublets , do some doublets ever get sold as black or is it hard to reproduce that natural potch layer. ?
The natural potch layer is usually not perfect and straight. And doesn’t have a glue line

There is no sedimentary opal outside of Australia that I am aware of so it will be volcanic

what happens to the land where the opal mines are mined out? Is it reclaimed or left barren?
It’s regenerated
