A Markup Language is a language that defines elements with tags, a good example of a Markup language is HTML and CSS. They both define with tags. e.g This is a paragraph tag from HTML p { /* This is referring to the tags in HTML, using CSS's tagging. }
Well, you see, most programming languages like Java or C# are actual programming languages, because they do not define elements with tags, that's how you can tell them apart. And because in a Markup Language, you cannot declare variables like in real programming languages. e.g Java: int x = 0; C#: int x = 0; Those are Integer variables declared and initialized, in a Markup Language, you cannot do that. And also, a Markup Language cannot define and or create methods or functions like in OOP programming languages. I'm not the best at explaining, I might be wrong, but from experience, I know that these are all key differences. Thanks for reading :)

Yes you technically can. It's an interpreted programming language that's made to run in a web browser though. So if you want to make web apps and simple web games js is a good choice. If you're looking into making pc games C++ or C# are the best options imo. C for embedded devices or if you are an optimisation nut. C# is really nice to learn, it's rather easy, the syntax is great and the visual studio ide is honestly one of the best on windows pcs… On mac I use codeRunner for C, xcode for C++ and visual studio for C#… (IntelliJ IDEA for Java but Java is bad)
How I started learning: 1- Played around websites and discovered HTML, I didn't really learn it, I just changed the text of the webpage for fun! 2- After about a month discovering HTML, I decided to actually learn it. I watched RUclips tutorials and did some of that coding on Notepad. 3- Soon, I decided to learn more coding. I found Khan Academy which taught me to draw with JavaScript and interact with the mouse. 4- After my JS course, Khan Academy started teaching me more HTML and soon CSS. I'm currently up to Stage 4, however I can actually create basic Web pages with HTML and CSS. Aiming to be a front end web developer in future. However since I'm only a kid, I still have a LONG way to go. But I give myself, and other child developers out there the best of luck.
C (unlike C++ or C#) is not a mainstream language. It is useful but nowadays for specific purposes. In my opinion, C++, C# or Java would be the best to go with
I started out learning Python, then moved on to C#. I think it was the perfect choise. Python is really easy to learn and understand, it will teach you the basics about programming. Then C# is a little bit more advanced, but it's also a bit more powerful (in some aplications). Personally I love either of them and could recommend them to everyone.

Well, you see, most programming languages like Java or C# are actual programming languages, because they do not define elements with tags, that's how you can tell them apart. And because in a Markup Language, you cannot declare variables like in real programming languages.
e.g
Java: int x = 0;
C#: int x = 0;
Those are Integer variables declared and initialized, in a Markup Language, you cannot do that. And also, a Markup Language cannot define and or create methods or functions like in OOP programming languages. I'm not the best at explaining, I might be wrong, but from experience, I know that these are all key differences. Thanks for reading :)
Thank you for this useful information.
Im only 13 y.o. and I want to start programming . I would like to start with Python . What else I should to know?

Great overview explanation, very well done.
2:05 html is not a programming language
Thanks for this awesome video! Loads of interesting info. Starting to code with Javascript ^^
HTML and CSS are NOT programming languages! Also you do not mention C and C++ as "main modern programming languages"?

Can we use java script for making games and apps
Thank you for reply but can you say me that we can make 3d and 2d both kinds of games with java script
Yes, you can use js along with unity.
How I started learning:
1- Played around websites and discovered HTML, I didn't really learn it, I just changed the text of the webpage for fun!
After scratch, Im trying to learn python! :)
Such a lovely decision-making help. Thank you very much.
this got me even more confused
Shall I start with C or python or java
Most people say start with C as it's the origin of all languages
C (unlike C++ or C#) is not a mainstream language. It is useful but nowadays for specific purposes. In my opinion, C++, C# or Java would be the best to go with
Thanks to you and your hard work. This video helped me a lot.
And so this brings me to my sponsor, squarespace! Lol Jk
Got me >.
thanks for the pep talk in the end
learn javascript and build anything
Seby it's already built node-os.com you can check it out
I started out learning Python, then moved on to C#. I think it was the perfect choise. Python is really easy to learn and understand, it will teach you the basics about programming. Then C# is a little bit more advanced, but it's also a bit more powerful (in some aplications). Personally I love either of them and could recommend them to everyone.
Right! C# is more powerful; IIRC, Unity uses it.
