    As a ByzCath bordering on TradCath, I may not be Eastern Orthodox, but I learn so much from you & Richard Rohlin & Johnathan Pageau, alike. God bless you, and thank you for the effort. #VivaCristoRey #AveMaria #SalveRegina #DeusVult

      @@jrwspellerify Why?

    • @jrwspellerify
      @jrwspellerify Месяц назад

      @@occultisluxI guess the burden of proof for extraordinary claims is on the ones who make them. Don't get me wrong, I think the other ways of interpreting scripture are grand. Maybe they're even enough. But to claim absolute historicity as moderns understand it for events as described in the pentateuch seems... problematic. Please, convince me. 🙏

    • @occultislux
      @occultislux Месяц назад +10

      @jrwspellerify Who defines what is extraordinary? If God exists and is the author of history, then miraculous events are not extraordinary, they are consistent with His nature. The standard for evidence in historical claims is not defined by modern skepticism but by coherence, testimony, and context. The Pentateuch contains historical claims that align with an ancient worldview, not a materialist, modern one. If you demand that these events be proved using modern methods alone, you presuppose a framework that already excludes the divine. This is begging the question. To challenge absolute historicity, you must first justify why your naturalistic assumptions about history are superior. Otherwise, you're just asserting your bias against the possibility of divine action in history.

      To add to what he said, you don't even need to look far or hard to understand the true operation of God in the lives of His people. Simply read the lives of a couple modern Saints, like St Porphyrios, Or St Paisios on Athonite Audio youtube channel, even just pick up a Pdf of the Prologue of Ohrid and read a little bit every week. Do this and it will become blatantly obvious that the literality of scripture is completely irrefutable, not only this but your spiritual life will greatly benefit. You will be in shock at how blinded everyone actually is and how little they actually care about Truth. Bless up my brother.

      @@occultisluxThanks for your answer. So when Seraphim says these events happened in history as described, is he not suggesting they should be provable by modern methods? Yes, I mean materiał evidence. I think he is, which is... problematic.

    If you can accept the allegorical sense, you can accept the historical sense. You can’t have one without the other.

      @@Nikolai.A.McGuire just read the OSB first. Because for me, it's tough to read the bible without knowing its significance first.

    The Bible is the Word of God, it is not exactly liturgical. It tells us want God speaks directly to us through the Bible. But only those whom God loves can truly understand the Bible. At least, that is what the Bible says.
