MK4- he has possibly the best projectile in the game,a ground pound that low profiles,above average damage, kills Sonya in his first arcade ending
Armageddon- everything he had in MK4 and more: an unblockable spear that changes sides and his damage is possibly the highest in the game with 70% combos, I think the MK Kommunity hate him for the wrong reasons.

For me, I hated how they changed Reptile from a fairly sympathetic character in MK II to more of a villain. I know that he was serving Shang Tsung before, but, in my head canon, he had no choice but to do that to protect his people. I would have loved to see him developed more as a wild card character just focused on trying to find a homeland for his kind.

Reptile was always my favorite character, and he's gotten progressively more insignificant in-story.
Even that dated initial Movie, from the 90's showed more respect.
I love the way they redeemed Baraka's character in mk11, all around the board, and I hope Reptile gets the same treatment, next time out.
The CGI in the first MK film was considered dated by the '90s. It looked like it was from the '80s.

Reptile is literally the Paul Phoenix of MK, because he starts off strong as a boss character and rival of Shang Tsung, and the more appearances he made, the more he gets nerfed and turned into a jobber that has no true purpose but to be left behind or comic relief
at least Paul has canon victories including the one aginst Ogre in T3 while Reptile does not

Reptile was my first favorite character in MK. I remember they talked about him as if he was some apocalyptic force of nature. So elusive and mysterious, that you wouldn’t want to run into and otherworldly ninja like reptile.
Sad to see. Really sad to see. Only thing sadder than reptile’s downfall is Torr. Dying off in the first and only game you were in. Such a cool looking character laid to waste.

Mortal Kombat 11 was just one huge middle finger to Reptile as a whole. Not only was he cut but they added salt to injury by constantly mentioning that he's deconfirmed in several dialogues, his invisibility was given to Mileena, makes brief cameos in Rain's fatality & Shang Tsung's transformation, given as reskin for Scorpion & Sub-Zero (which is bullshit because D'vorah gets theme skins to other characters despite being in the game), and they didn't even consider using Khameleon as a temporary substitute for him in the game. 🦎💩

(Syzoth reporting in) Some disrespect that didn't make your video: He spits acid into Takeda's eyes and it's later washed out with water without doing any damage. That same stuff that dissolves entire bodies? Does nothing to eye jelly.
The developers said they couldn't give reptile a functioning tail, but then released alien with a better dash, better flip, better acid, and also a tail that Reptile was supposed to have.
He's also one of if not the first kill in the new Mortal Kombat movie.
Lastly, he's the only character from the first two Mortal Kombat games to not make the MK11 roster.
They're doing us Reptile OGs dirty.

Reptile was never honorable, he’s gone on record to kill weak opponents and to disappear when his allies are overwhelmed. He changed sides so many times, and he always changes sides to the winning side rather than stay loyal. He always serves the newest bad guy in every game, the man was ALWAYS a servant of the main villain. Nothing less, nothing more. Honestly they just need to kill him off agains and do something else. If they bring Onaga back and repeat the same prophecy, reptile will not be coming back in the new game either.

Only reason Reptile wasn't in MK11 was so Kotal Kahn could take all the L's for him.
Reptile is definitely one of my favourites, especially growing up when any ‘monster’ character like him or Baraka were my faves. I used to have the MK Super Book which had move lists, an original comic, and character vs character tier lists etc., and I would read their description of Reptile often, and while they said he was arguably the weakest character in MKII, I still believed their affirmation that us Reptile fans ‘know better than anyone that it is possible to fight and win’ as him. He’s just so cool and I love his invisibility having two versions in MK9! And his fight in the MK movie was excellent.
I dunno man, Kotal's tenure has been shorter but that dude caught almost nothing but Ls..even in his reveal trailer for 11. At least reptile become a viable threat when he was Onaga's vessel. Kotal seemed like threat and became a joke faster than a Usain bolt record sprint.
There's also the fact that Reptile will always be the original secret character in fighting games and the originator of MK's long history of hidden content. Reptile is one of the most legendary fighting game characters and no amount of jobbing can ever take that away from him.
In fact maybe they turned him into a jobber to make Sub and Scorpion look better? Both are more important but Reptile was far more impressive in the early days owing to his secret status, first appearance as literally both other ninjas combined but twice as fast and role as Tsung's bodyguard.
By comparison what does Kotal have going for him? A cool design maybe but Ogre pulled it off years earlier so Tekken deserves any credit there. KK and his wheelchair don't have shit on Reptile, the scaly boy actually had a reputation to be ruined, KK's reputation has been jobbing from the start.
So Reptile has certainly been done dirtier than Kotal but Kotal was never anything but done dirty so I guess it's a matter of perspective who got disrespected worse during their career.

I used to use Reptile to humiliate people in MK2 in the arcade because most people thought he was weak. Actually beat Noob Saibot with him, too, during a 56-fight win streak.
I think the most humiliated character is Kotal Kahn (KK). Got defeated by almost everyone and the only people KK beats are just jobbers
But he becomes Kahn in the latest games so it ended good for him 🤷🏽♂️

Nothing but facts in this video. I hope Ed Boon sees this and gets the devs to stop disrespecting Reptile in future games. I grew up playing MK (literally one of the first games I ever played) and I can remember how badass Reptile was in the early games. Then like you said, he became a punching bag and even in the new movie, just gets thrown aside like nothing. Absolutely terrible.

Me too. Reptile has always been my main dude and not having him in the new game sucks balls. But yea my fave reptile skin is the original ninja. I don't mind him being scaled with the outfit. But like turning him into a pint sized Godzillagator in the new movie fucking pissed me off.
I loved his human ninja counterpart, the deception behind his character was great.

I know I'm super late for this but YES! Someone finally says what i have been saying for YEARS!! Reptile isn't some pathetic jobber for the other fighters to use as a green punching bag. He's a badass and highly skilled warrior and was one of the STRONGEST Kombatants in MK History, being Shang Tsung's personal protector and being able going toe-to-toe with with the chosen one himself, Liu Kang. And as a big reptile fan, it honestly breaks my heart seeing just how much humiliation Reptile had been dealt with throughout the many years and games after MK2, ESPECIALLY in Mortal Kombat 11 where he has no use but fucking CURRENCY. Not to mention in both the animated and live action movie where he is almost instantly killed off by the "heroes" of the story. Literally the only good thing to ever happen to him in the recent installments was in MKX where he was finally given a proper name after so many years. Reptile has so much potential as a character and i just hope with all of my heart that future or present MK writers we'll see that, removing this groveling, subordinate minion slave Reptile and bring back the honourable, iron-willed, proud, goated raptor warrior SYZOTH that we all know and love.

Not only so Reptile isn't alone and the last of his race but because if I remember right the Saurian become more reptilian when they are away from their queen or something like that. So maybe Reptile and her could restart the Saurians & he could get his human form back.

The way I look at Reptile in the 2021 movie is, at least my boy went down because he was outnumbered. I don't think he would lose any of those fights 1v1. ALSO, at least he didn't die to Cole Young ._.
I agree with Fatsu. REPTILE was badass and it took 3 people to take him out, and I kinda liked he's design. Shame he got so little screen time. Probably why Reptile in the OG movie is the best because he has a excellent fight with Lu Kang. Actually kicking his butt for a bit.

I think the fact he was not in 11 was rather because Devs were really try harding to reduce the Ninjas in the game for whatever reason. Ermac also took L's in new timeline besides Jax's Arms and a cutscene victory and those soldiers deaths. And then almost killed in ending and died in a krypt cutscene.

@@wankawanka3053 that was only in MKX, in MK11 they gave him a proper design this time but left him unplayable which was a dumb decision.
The krypt is non canon and despite him losing some fights he still has several victories in the new timeline as well.
Beats Jax, Johnny Cage, helped beat Reiko in the comic, beat Mileena in a flashback, beat Cassie, Kung Jin and Jacqui (although lost in the rematch due to it being her chapter) while Reptile on the other hand has had ZERO victories which is a bad look for him.

Yeah I think that’s true. I mean if we look at Jade, Kitana & Shao Kahn, Kitana & Jade are bodyguards/personal Assassins for Shao Kahn, and He’s stronger than both of them. (Kitana beat Shao in mk11) but I think it should’ve been written a lot better and maybe, I think she could beat him if the plot was written better and Kitana got longer and more in depth development, then I think she could beat him. But Jade is also Kitana’s best friend/Body guard and Kitana has proved to be stronger than her.

Reptile doesn't need to be stronger than Shang Tsung to be his bodyguard. In many fantasy scenarios, the person with bodyguards is the "final boss" material. They just use bodyguards so they won't get their hands dirty. It also prevents the bodyguard from turning on the person and killing/betraying them for money, power or whatever they are popular for.
Edit: Him beating Shang Tsung and Shao Kahn is basically Johnny beating Shinnok. It leads to a happy ending and everyone's beaten everyone at some point for the sake of story or hype. It's basically why Reptile has been treated poorly lately, because the hype was built around new characters for the last 10 years and when you have the main heroes and villains set, that leaves Reptile as a jobber.

Well for one its not midway its NetherRealm studios and franchise creators like Ed boon that put the jokes/Easter eggs in Mortal Kombat.. Noob Saibot was one of their jokes so was rain and ermac was a macro error then they made him a real character lol
2:02 I'm going to have to disagree on this part. although it is a nice thought on the part of reptiles Strength, it is more related to reptile being able to protect Shang from threats he wouldn't see or have time to prepare for. It seems that power scales only work in 1v1 confrontations, so anyone can pretty much be assassinated as long as they arent aware of their assailant. This means Shang needs people watching his back to prevent this. it isn't because he needs them to handle threats he couldn't himself if he were to be ready for it. It can also be more like a Frieza role where he has lackeys do the grunt work but doesn't need personal guards as he is strong enough on his own.

You can have a body guard who isn’t as strong as you. But, you know, still gotta be competent and alert enough to handle or alert you to something that’s a threat to you.
Say, someone with a 4/6 matchup spread against you. That’s a threat. Maybe reptile has a 5/5 spread or a 6/4 spread… doesn’t matter. If they fight him first they’re losing to you.
Or several 3/7’s wander in and you can easily take any ONE of them. But if they catch you off guard you’re donezo. Good thing reptile is there to look around in case they try something and stronger enough to take them.
Yeah, Underdawg does hype Reptile up a bit too much, but keep in mind Shang Tsung's champion is Goro. Goro is extremely strong, and lives up to his title. I think Shang Tsung would want the best of warriors, so him picking Reptile just as a glorified alert doesn't make sense. Reptile is an actual ninja capable of invisibility, immense speed and strength. He can eliminate his foes quietly, or in an actual fight, utilize his acidic abilities to kill. I'm not saying Reptile is stronger than Shang Tsung, but being chosen as Shang Tsung's personal bodyguard has more to do with it than alerting Shang to threats. Shang would just send Reptile to eliminate them instead.

In MK it makes perfect sense to have reptile as bodyguard, he can stealth and hes fast. Let's just say he protects the strongest character in MK Shinok, oops i mean Cassie :^) her being caught 1v3 would suck ass, but having a guard or 2, makes it 3v3. No one is unbeatable.

Fighters have bodyguards, but said bodyguards are used for crowd control or meant to handle potentially armed assailants. In the case of reptile, he would be a henchmen if he was handling threats Shang tsung could deal with, but chooses not to. There's nothing wrong with that, and it doesn't make reptile weak. It just makes him less of abodyguard and more of a henchmen.

Well, MK now has a rather impressive record of disrespecting their characters and not being able to know how to handle power in their own universe. As much as I love this franchise... There are a looooot of questionable decisions made.

Since he is a dinosaur I would like to see him in the next game with a velociraptor head a little smaller off course so it fits.Moreover I would want him to have a tail ,spikes covering the tail all over to the head.I would also like to see him with his race and not being a jobber.It would be fantastic if they made him so he enters the tournament by himself in order to save earthrealm.
I think that would be a good idea as a way to buff reptile again, the only thing I'd modify in that idea is that you only see that form when reptile is in a different combat state which adds or changes some of his moves, that state would be activated 3 ways either by simple button combination like a normal special move, change via combo or fatality.
That would be epic I can see people pulling off crazy combos and juggles while changing forms back an forth or starting in 1 form just end the combo in the other 💯

I remember GamePro magazine listed him as bottom-tier when MK2 came out. His invisibility move was pretty useless: your opponent couldn't see him but neither could you, and the CPU cheated.
Even Mortal Kombat conquest knew how cool reptile was, making him a scheming dude with plans to take over outworld. He was handing shang tsung his ass for most of their fight too

what baffles me is not only do they keep dumping on this beloved and legendary character, but they've squandered every single potential to explore his race as well as dive deeper into the other characters of his race that have survived like Chameleon & Khameleon. which is strange since out of all the male ninjas, Chameleon is still the only one that remains mysterious and he's just as cool as Reptile in his own unique way. they could of even re-introduced Komodai into the series to further dive into the Zaterran race and I would of been fine with it. the Saurians never seem to get the respect they deserve and we never get to know more about them as a race & their realm aside from the same exact tiresome vague explanations.

Its because of how NRS structures their story, they do these chapters for each character where theyre basically unbeatable for the next 4 fights and then are forced to lose the next however many because its not their chapter anymore.
So basically you only win fights if you have your own chapter, and Villains(especially henchmen level villains) never get their own chapters so theyre just cursed to lose for eternity
Reptile isnt the only character that gets this treatment, but hes been in the most games and is the most popular of the bunch so its happens to him the most by default.
I REALLY hate that they do this, it just seems like such an obstacle to work around story telling wise and it disrespect A TON of fan favorite characters like Ermac, Rain, Baraka, etc.
Some of the villains are allowed to win outside of their chapter; like ermac beating Johnny and jax.
@@fightingmedialounge519 thats extremely rare and Jax losing to Ermac to get his Metal arms is apart of his origin story. Other then that its extremely rare
@@CaptainProx technically Jax didn't loose his arms in the old timeliness before he received his metal arm, so Ermac taking his arms was just a win given to him.

There's a little bit of simping going on here. Reptile was one of my favourites too and he didn't age well but:
- The concept of bodyguard is not exactly that. In real life that would be the case in most cases but there are still people who don't need them but have them because they don't want to spend their life watching their backs or they can't deal with armed people etc.
In MK, Shang Tsung is obviously able to defend himself against almost anyone but he has other things to do than always being alert, so bodyguards make sense but in the MK world whoever is more powerful than you overthrows you so it's not correct to assume that Reptile is stronger or as strong as Shang Tsung.
- There isn't any element that says that he's more dinosaur than lizard, except a single low definition image.
- In MK9 and MKX he's an henchman because that's what he is also in previous games, and he only loses because that's his role, his endings in early games were not canon, he never defeated Shao Kahn, or Shang Tsung, or any other important character.

I'm feeling the love for Reptile in this video. I was thinking he was favorite cannon fodder (along with all the other no red blooded characters lol). I demand REDEMPTION for my top playable character. I want to see him eviscerate some people in his next reincarnation (at least some side characters). I do have to say if I remember right in X he did get a peaceful/happy ending... with earth realm's Saurians. Also even though it was a slap in the face over the Dragon King. I look at as him being the sudo boss character. (Not the Goro/Sheeva relationship with him that is eluded in 11.)

Reptile has been my favorite of the ninjas since he first appeared, when mk1 came out it was the only game people played in the arcade and also the only thing people talked about in school and it was always about the blue and yellow ninjas, so when rumors got around about a hidden green ninja the hype was real, when someone finally encountered him everyone crowded around the cabinet hellbent on seeing if he was real, people would try over and over just for a chance at fighting him only to get bodied in seconds just to start all over again I think in total about 32 people from the whole school were actually able to beat him (me included) though that was probably more so due to not knowing how to get to him then anything else, but cut too mk2 and reptile was playable there was more hype then ever before practically everyone in my friend group played as him, he was just too cool and he's been my main since, seeing him go from a school playground legend to a complete jobber sucks but I'm just happy to play as him.
Ngl. I was always a liu kang fan but seeing someone else have as much hate on a character for no real reason is kinda messed up. I do appreciate the lore and history of reptile because I never got to play the original mortal Kombat arcade games so I never knew reptile was such a beloved character. I think that if they don't make Reptile a fighter in the next game after 11, they should at least make him the main character of the Krypt or maybe even a secret boss in order to point back to who he once was. Hell, if they make him the Krypt protagonist, maybe you could be the one to kill the Krypt guy for a few koins as revenge.

Reptile has been my favorite character throughout mk9 up until now. I desperately hope that we get him in the next game seeing as its suppose to be a prequel.
The worst part about that mk4 cutscenes is that reptile is killed in his own lair...
