- The Jaguar XK 140 was an incredible sports car of the 1950's, in fact the XK Jaguars were the first sports cars since 1939. The Jaguar XK140 followed on from the XK120 model and was introduced in 1954 ready for the 1955 market. The Jaguar XK140 we are looking at today is the early 1955 model and it's owner Ron picked it up in 1967 but didn't quite have enough money so had to owe £5 to the seller.

Hi i am the old mate of Ron who sold him the car, we are still keep in touch and talk about the old days ? we had many happy hours tracking down Classic cars , i would hear about a abandoned car, ring Ron and drag him out, really he did not need dragging out, i don't think his wife was to pleased when he told her just nipping out with Brian to collect another heap, bless him , i think she said bloody Brian you spend more time with him than me , we were buying cars for peanuts but as he says £5 pounds then was a lot , sorry mate, but we had some laughs for sure back in good old days. Brian.
Nice memories Brian do you still drive a classic ?
Stunning car and a great owner even better he still owns it after all this time .
Classic sports cars just don t get better than this one. From the XK120 to the XK150 Jaguar could do no wrong.
I agree Ray love these cars
I know who put the louvres in Clark Gable's first XK ... he worked as a movie set designer / properties manager at Universal Studios, and you can see his work in many famous movies of the period. Clark asked him to install the louvres when it was found that the XK tended to overheat in the California climate.
Thank you Philip for your interesting contribution 😊
Fantastic episode 👏
Ron is my dad, Fantastic memory's ,and unfortunately he didn't tell you the story about the E type 😄
Thank you Gavin , tell us about the etype !
I also own an XK 140 DHC (807027) that I have totally enjoyed since 1989, like the featured car it is on steel wheels , wires look better but every time I clean my car I'm so glad it's not fitted with them !

I used to own a 1954 XK140 drop head coup. Biggest mistake of my life was selling it
Why did you sell it? And do you know if it’s still out there somewhere?
@@datbs I sold it to build my first house. I’m in Australia and I believe it is now in New Zealand but not 100% sure.
@@adamjones8684 be nice to find it 😊
Lovely, but he's got a piece out of place on one of his jigsaws. Look at the xk on the number plate.
