I had two later Capri's (both in the eighties) and have always really loved this original since a kid and this one is something special, so yes please.

I love this when it came out - check out Supercar on RUclips - same animators that later made Thunderbirds. Mike Mercury wS the hero and Supercar could swim under water as well as fly. The short lived Capri was the closest thing on the road in appearance. Later, my dad bought a Cortina GT Even as a kid I thought it looked boring. When the next Capri was introduced, I didn’t think it looked nearly as good. Later, the Vauxhall Firenza had a similar roofline as does my current ride - a mk 2 Megan CC - which has the added advantage of the folding top.

This just has to be one of the most interesting "might have beens" ever. Well done to Steve for the vision, time, and effort to make this happen. A Crayford convertible version would have worked on this car too.

I love the car. I had a buddy that had a ford cortina but this car would have blown the cortina away.

Loved 'em when they first appeared and love 'em even more now. That example has been beautifully reworked. A custom mesh grille insert in Lotus green maybe?? With 5 discreet stars? Definitely the coolest ever UK Ford (although I once saw its sister, the Consul Classic, with a Rover V8 that was defo tasty!)

Yes the Capri is cooler but you can't really compare two different types of car. The Cortina may have been made sporty with the Lotus version but it is a hotted up family car, therefore it is obviously going to be more practical if you want to carry back seat passengers. The Capri was really built as a two seater, not for a grown up family. Incidentally I've never understood the term 2 plus 2. Most cars are 2 plus 2 surely, two in the front, two in the back.

Electric capri 280 who ever does it needs there head seriously testing. It's purely a beautiful sound and drive as it a pure legend, its only regret is that ford did not make it supercharged like it was planned to be the capri 500 it would have been awesome.

This is one of the best cars Ford made in the UK. Sadly just a bit before I was able to drive, by the time I could drive these were hard to find. I would love to have had one.

😢My first ever car was a 1962 Panama Yellow/Ermine White Consul Capri reg. PEN 639. I bought it in 1969, aged 18. Years later in 1990, I bought a 1963 GT in Goodwood Green reg. HFX 93. I owned this one for 16 years. Unfortunately both cars are now gone, but I still have lasting memories of both!

Only thing that's wrong with that car is the fact that is not here in my garage. Absolutely a dream car. (South Africa)

I would sell a limb to get that Lotus Capri, I have had 15 or so of the next generation of the Capri. But to the original is the prettiest car Ford produced.

THAT IS THE COOLEST. Its been my dreamcar since it came out. I had a Corgi 1/43 model, light blue if I remember it correct. I was 5 or 6 years old then.

I know where one of these Capris, 1962 model is. Came across it in the Caribbean the other year. Got talking to the guy who owns it, looks pretty much complete to me. Spotted it as I used to drive past it daily.

This was a really interesting car. Don't think any version ever came to the states. Very pretty car. They say it was somewhat based on the designs of the Ford Galaxy and T-Bird, but I see a lot of Studebaker Lark or Hawk in it.

How can our friend think it WASN'T cool when it was new? I was 10 years old at the time - and I've ALWAYS thought it was cool! I'm not one of those people that only likes things when they get old! BUT I've always liked tge similar CLASSIC, in 2 door form, and also 4 door form! People with money often don't begrudge spending huge amounts of it, on OTHER cars, like BRISTOL or BENTLEY cars, etc.etc., but I "go for the set", and buy the 2 - door, the 4 - door Classics, AND this car!

Cool? The ‘coupé’ version of the Consul Classic, in it’s day as now, is as awkward looking as sin. It’s problem, common to many US Design influenced European cars, is just too small to be flattered by the American influences.

They’re very cool little cars, look like a miniature ‘60 Starliner.

I agree and I remember when I was a young pup,seeing a Black Cheery example at a car dealer across the road from where I worked They were nice then and still have great looks✅

I had friends with these cars & from memory the 1500gt had a weber 28/36 dcd carb. It made 75 BHP. I loved to drive in it. Probably the best looking car that Ford ever produced. Like say a GT40. Many mods were to fit a 1600 cross flow with a 4 branch & twin 40's. A A3 cam & some head work made these things fly.
