Lots to know how important timing is and what a big difference having the correct timing makes, great explanation and glad it made a big difference on your Mustang!

Timing will solve or cause all sorts of problems. Thanks for watching!

Nice info on the timing and adjustments. The only thing missing is the after results at the drag strip... Ideally your vac and fuel economy should have increased as well.

I'm bringing it to DuctTapeDrags 2024 in a week. We'll see what it does, and I'll post it up.

Thank you, thank you and thank you! I'll have the Mustang at the track if I don't get the Duster running before then.

My Stang is set to 17 degrees base with 19 degrees of advance.. tossed in lighter springs "blue ones" and dropped a needle size on the step up... Pulls like a freight train!!!

This helped me a lot, thx! Searched high and low for some info on what springs bring in timing at lower rpm. My mechanic told me my dizzy was bad so I bought a new one. I have an FE build, a 390 with a 428 crank, Edelbrock heads and manifold, headers, a mild cam. It's a street car, but I like to get rowdy with it. I was told to set idle to about 12 degrees and full in to about 32. Been reading a lot, and figuring out timing the last few days. Both my bad dizzy and my new one have a 13R and a 18R. If I use the small springs off them both do you think I'll still need to go to a 10R gap or do you think the 13R might suffice? Just trying to save myself a little extra work. I'm at 7,000 FT elevation so manifold vacuum is only 6 hg. Thx in advance for any input.
