  • Last year Muminjonova was one of 10 students excluded from a university in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan for violating dress code by sporting the hijab, a staple of female Islamic dress. Over 90 percent of Uzbekistan's population is Muslim and social conservatism runs deep, especially in the provinces of the 33 million-strong republic.

I'm from Uzbekistan and say that we moved away from the teachings of Islam during the heyday of first President I.A. Karimov (1991-2016). Hijab, beard, Islamic clothing in the public areas were banned. But today, Alhamdulillah, the ummah is waking up, anti-religous restrictions are being ablated

No am from pakistan..For centuries turkmen (turks) n mongolians used to live togathrr in those eurasian lands.By genes they are considerd cousines...One of the reason mongolz cd win battles was that some turks wrre in mongol armies n they had mix breed. They also had support of non muslim turks who wanted to attack muslim turks hence you see multiple attacks on Seljuk empire then ayyubid empires ...which lead to rise of ottomon empire later on when large chunk of muim turks migrated from turkemenistan n related 6 states of ancient russia to today s byzantine(turkey) regions...n lead tje foundation of a new islamic empire alongwith kurds(grandsons of salahuddin ayyubi who shifted on alquds n syrian regions)...tatars n muslim mongols they took with them (some as slaves n some willingly accepted n joined them)....muslim armenians on borders of west..bulgaria..some serbian parts even...bosnia kosovo n related regions.
What happened to the rest of turkmen was that they continued their fight in their respective landz against mongols.Keep in mind ottomons were fighting against crusaders too alongwith preserving seljukian empire...But turkmen of 6 eestann (freed states) of russia comtinued to fight same enemy...During wars many mpngols got killed...many accepted islam..sinxe some of them had blood relations too..many were taken slaves who later accepted islam.Inshort ..they also formed a new era pf great scholars like imam abu hanifa..mubarak..etc.Many scientists as well who build dams in egypts...glass utensils..beautiful architectures n scientific books rtc..In this struggle..it was iran who helped them as iran was in between the abbasid vs ottomo empires eras...So the new religious era had scholars who were well equipped wirh language skills of both arabic n persian..Persians mongols too got married ...few afghans as well..Mixing led to Golden Horde...Golden horde were ppl whose fathers were mostly russianz mongols (turkmen n related 6 freed states from.soviet union) but they spoke farsi n turkomongol languages. They were fierce warriors n gave a huge blow to mongols..for centuries islam flourished there...then kipchaks or khazars rose to power n they led secular revolutions esp after ottoman fall..This led to wwrs n secularisation of russia including those 6 states who had great chunk of muslims.Russian tzar kingdom.had also fallen to pieces. So after bolshevik revolution..godless society of soviet union was placed but in this prpcess muslims resisted...wars happened n muslim men were killed..it was a tribulatory era n kipchaks/khazarz were scientifically more advanced ...
6 states like Uzbekistan also saw such time when there were only women n kids but not much men among their socirty..majority had died or tortured...mostly were taken out of homes inckuding teens n killed.
Women had to marry godless russians to have muslim kids...or they brought up their kids pf muslim fathers with islamic teachings secretly...some kept their qurqn in basements...some passed on knowledge verbally...until they got freed from soviet unuon after afgan soviet war...They ve now plenty pf muslim men now.
