My favorite book recently was Five Broken Blades because it was the only book I read recently that got me attached to the characters! I also just started The Lilies and so far it has a nonbinary character and dark academia vibes ❤
i adored Evocation and i loved So Let Them Burn so much, i need the sequels for both asap pleaaaase! Such good books, very excited to see where things go with each of them. As for my June. June was A Month wow. my favorite book from June Looking For Smoke by K.A. Cobell, it is a murder mystery thriller set on the Blackfeet Reservation in Montana that primarily involves the Blackfeet (Siksikaitsitapi) people and it might just be my new favorite book of all time, honestly. It was so twisty and it kept me guessing until the very last page, i loved it. i also read Hell For Hire (Tear Down Heaven, #1) by Rachel Aaron. Rachel Aaron is a (relatively recently new) favorite of mine for Urban Fantasy, and i'm very excited to see where this new series goes, it was a /hell/ of a opening book, whew. Then there was Moonstorm (Lancers, #1) by Yoon Ha Lee. It's reminiscent of Iron Widow, but it truly holds its own, if you like Sci-Fi and/or mechs this is definitely one to hit up. Then there was The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo which... i didn't really enjoy much. It was my second time trying Bardugo's work (DNF'd Ninth House) and i think her writing just isn't for me. Then came what was probably the most disappointing read of the year, Winter Lost (Mercy Thompson, #14) by Patricia Briggs. It was honestly a short story that was fluffed out to 400+ pages with SO much filler and just a disappointment. i also read I'm Afraid You've Got Dragons by Peter S. Beagle which i absolutely /adored/ it was so good. i wish it was book 1 in a series, i want 100 more set in the world, it was so wholesome. i read 26, but those were the real standouts. :3c
The 2 queer books I liked in June were No Mans Chattel by Lee Swanson Pew by Catherine Lacey D'Vaughn and Kate Plan a Wedding is on my tbr for next month! I learned about the Celtic Goddess of war and death from gay smut books this year! In Taken by the Witch Queen by Luna Fury (5☆) the Queen is named Lady Morrigan (which made me pay more attention ro the name) and in The Raven and the Banshee by Carolyn Elizabeth (3.25☆) the raven names her cat Morrigan after the goddess wich added depth to TbtWQ and Genuinly taught me someting.
I read all queer all pride month-though I read queer as often as possible, if it's not at least a little gay what's the point?-and I found some new all time faves! 🏳🌈 Natalie Naudus's 'Gay the Pray Away' is terrific. I wouldn't normally be interested in a book about a religious cult, but make it about queer girls realising not only that they're in a cult and they need to get the hell out, but that they're queer as well was just WOW! It's an incredibly powerful book, and Naudus reads the audiobook herself, so it was awesome to hear the characters as she intended them to come across. She's one of my favourite audio performers. I'd recommend her over just about anybody else. I think every other sapphic and their oat milk latte (and at least one to four cats) read 'The Honey Witch' by Sydney J. Shields and loved it. I am one of those sapphics, and I have the cats to prove it 😹 After waiting so long for the book to be published and then getting a personalised copy (with cute little hearts and bees alongside a favourite quote scribbled in 💓), it was just such a wonderful reading experience. I can't look at yellow flowers without bursting into tears now. It's such a beautiful book. It gave me an even greater respect for bees, and honey, naturally. I reread my all time favourite book which I can't namedrop #SpeakUpSMP, but I also read another five sapphic books, and one achillean book. They weren't bad, but after reading so many great queer books none of them stand out too much. Love your videos! I'm always finding great books through you, so thank you! 🤩🌈
We don’t always overlap in our book preferences but we 100% overlap in our sense of humor.
😂 your sense of humour is fab

great list!
I procrastinated reading books for June but the end of June to beginning of July I read Lavash at First Sight by Taleen Voskuni was really good.
