Such good information…I really didn’t realize how much a dull blade can harm your mat.

What great tips! I never did like the idea of putting flexible mats in the tub, and now I know how to clean my really great mat that has cork on the back for pattern making. Thanks!

Great tips! I use a Teflon scrubber from the dollar store to wipe off threads and scraps into a bin. For stuck on stuff like after cutting batting, a kitchen rubber glove works wonders (also for removing pet hair and lint off quilts and bedding and couches and car seats!) . I save all my threads and scraps into a big bin then make up pet beds for our shelter. Cheers and thanks!

Could you address how to change the blades on a rotary cutter. It seems there is a beveled edge on the blades & I’m not sure if I’m putting it on properly. It seems the new blades do not cut well. Thank you

I just changed my rotary blade for a brand new blade, and I swear it is not cutting well.

Thanks Lynn, I thought it was me putting it on incorrectly. Nice to know I’m not alone with this problem. I watch some of the instructors cut & I know they must be new blades, but mine are never sharp enough. Maybe someone will see this & have an answer for us. Again thank you for your reply.

You say it all the time (“this mat is pinnable”), but I actuallly want to see you put a pin through that pinnacle mat. I just can’t imagine it happening so I really want a demonstration!! 😊

This is a very useful video. I am concerned about dull blades & would like to know if you buy all new blades as needed or do you sharpen your blades with a particular sharpener tool especially for rotary blades? Your answer will imply if those things really work!

Is there any hope for a mat that has a bump in it from (heat from iron)? I put one of those gray squares where you can iron on and I believe the heat created a bump. I’ve had many books holding it down for weeks to no avail. Any thoughts?
