What You Need to Know About FlowRider Surfing

- Many cruise ships within Royal Caribbean’s fleet have FlowRiders. We discuss everything you need to know about FlowRider surfing, including who can surf, (height restrictions) how to surf, and some tricks! FlowRider surfing is broken into two different types: body/boogie boarding and stand up surfing. Both are offered on Royal Caribbean’s ships that have FlowRiders. Make sure to check out the private and semi-private lessons if you want to learn how to be the best FlowRider surfer you can be during your cruise. Don’t worry if you don’t take FlowRider lessons you are given a brief tutorial on how to ride and surf!

Ouch, I think falling on the flowrider is all part of the fun. Everyone falls at first until they get a hang of it. Just knowing how to properly fall helps too so you don't get hurt.
This instruction is GOLD!!! Definitely practice these prior to arrival as the folks who work there well recommend other stuff. But honestly these are solid steps in this video!! Thanks😅

I was just on a cruise with Beatrice on navigator in mid December! Absolutely loved the flowrider. This made me apply to become a sports staff. Hopefully I’m able to become one! Thanks for the vid as well

Thanks for the video. I just came back from my 2nd RCL cruise :) I really enjoyed FlowRider and meeting new people while waiting on a line. I didn't know that they had group lessons. I will definitely do it next time.

Alanna Zingano Oh yes, love the FlowRider. It was one of my favorite things to do on the ships with my grandma before she passed away. She was fighting cancer but she still got out there with my siblings and all my cousins and I! The last cruise we took with her before she passed was also on my Birthday. She brought a bunch of presents on the ship, and got all the waiters to sing for me! We were swinging around napkins and all that fun stuff. That was on Adventure back in 2012, seems so long ago now! Sorry for telling such a long story but, I also wanted to tell you that ever since I discovered your channel about a month ago when I came across your “Super Mario” videos, I have really enjoyed your content and your enthusiasm for cruising, especially with Royal. You bring me the feeling that I am there in the moments that I am not, and you always have a smile on your face while doing it! Do you have to do the lesson before they will let you do it? For the boogie board one.
They have you watch a video of do's and don'ts before they let you go on the boogie board. If they see you did well they allow you to do standing up!

I don’t understand why the height restriction is different from your local waterpark flowrider… it’s like 10” difference

It's free. A lesson is about $70 for an hour which you will share with others.

Royal Caribbean no longer allows standup flowrider unless you can already surf on your own unassisted. You can only boogie board.

@@CruisetheWorldAtoZ I’ve been boarding for 4 years and I love the flowrider especially on the ship it’s a unique experience but for pros who know what they’re doing they have strict rules that keep us from doing high level tricks and for me basic tricks do get boring really quick.
Only one thing... Over 30 you are only entertaining for the audience like horrible kareoke
