@@LoyalOpposition lucky you (I always thought how lucky ball boys were when I was a kid watching on TV...from the attire they wore, the court side action, close proximity, and interaction with all of players and refs). In 1988 after hearing George Blaha mention during a game the Pistons were looking for ball boys I convinced a 16-yr old kid from my neighborhood to ride the bus with me so I could put an application in a box at a Taco Bell on Harper Ave by Eastland Mall near Vernier/8 Mile next to a Vic Tanny's gym to be a ball boy for the Pistons (you couldn't tell me I wasn't going to be hired). I went home telling everyone I was gonna be a ball-boy. I told my parents and siblings to be on the listen and lookout for phone calls or mail (my sisters and parents ignored me like I was crazy but my 5 yr old brother was convinced I was getting the job)....the Pistons never called 😂 😂😂....not to mention i was 12 and lived in Detroit and didn't consider it wouldn't have mattered anyway because my parents weren't gonna drive me to the Pontiac Siverdome to clock in for a shift as ball boys especially on a school night. I still rocked with the Pistons and my all-time favorite player Zeke.
I remember seeing Isaiah running the streets on the Westside of Chicago looking to play basketball. I also went to the same high school with Mark A. and Eddie Johnson at the House.
It's genuine and real AF when they say he lived out all their dreams. Not only theirs but any Native Chicagoan who loved basketball and the Bulls. Proud to say 2 of the greatest to ever come out of Chicago are Englewood Natives. D. Rose and D. Wade. People don't know/realize that Wade is ORIGINALLY from the city/ Englewood
When Chicago people put Drose above Zeke and dwade as the GOAT from Chicago that should let you know how big his impact was on the game and the city cause Zeke is arguably the greatest to ever play from Chicago 💯
Rose was on his way to take Zeke spot. Rose from my neighborhood on the South Side and Zeke from my ex-wife neighborhood on the West Side still friends with her
While D-Rose was definitely that guy, there's no comparing the two. A lotta D-Rose love rightfully so stems from him being from and playing for Chicago. As the hometown kid, if Isiah did for Chicago what he did for Detroit, Chicagoans would've given Zeke holidays. Edit: I think it plausible to compare D-Rose and D-Wade. If D-Rose was on those Heat championship teams playing at his peak (instead of D-Wade), in the same roles as D-Wade alongside of Shaq and Mourning in 06, and with Bron and Bosh in 2012 & 2013, I don't doubt for a moment he wouldn't have been able to perform as Wade did (and that's no knock on Wade). However, I doubt if either of them would've been able to do what Zeke did in Detroit because Zeke had a no prisoner/screw the world attitude and identity that he indisputably led the team and made others better with (and that's no knock on the legends of Wade and Rose).
Marvin Joseph Joe and Zeke hall of fame players. Rodman hall of fame player. Joe and Zeke better than Chauncey and Rip. Not to mention the bad boys won 2 chips. I could keep going and going and I love the going to work stones
I notice a lot of Mj underlying messages, which is well granted..... Isiah career also suffered because of the MJ effect. Mj represented the individualism and Isiah represented team, NBA didn’t like it, game changed forever!!!!
Growing up in the D when the Pistons were 16-66 the year before they drafted Zeke and watching the Pistons develop with him...was some of the best times of my life...no doubt...The D!
Greatest Basketball player and mind of all time. He can be commissioner of the league and things wouldn't be outta place one bit. The Basketball would certainly be 10 times better than what it is right now, but the NBA wants to go in a different direction. A more European style of Basketball. Which is shit!

Shot out to all Chicagoans and Detroiters ....who no longer reside, but have it in their blood.

I remember Zeke at Indiana and he was killin'! I've been a Zeke fan from Indiana through Detroit. He was and is one those players who for real don't give a damn if you like him but you will respect him. He really did earn that respect and his nickname "General". Eventhough he may be a little "different" for their show, I would love to see them with what I consider the ultimate Knucklehead, Dennis Rodman.
Zeke is my guy for real. Crazy that I just saw this. I grew up on the Westside of Chicago, went to Resurrection (the same grade school), and played BB. He was indeed a legend. He opened up Chicago Catholic league schools to actively recruit talented and capable young players from the Westside due to his success. Before #23, #11 was the number that point guards yearned for, and why, because of Zeke. He was and remains the PG standard for us…
If you looked up PG in the dictionary, it would be a picture of Isiah. Dude was stone cold assassin and that cheap shot Karl Malone put on him because he was torching John Stockton after the Dream Team was dirty but Isiah was sending a message to those who thought Stockton was a better PG which he wasn't.
Dope interview. Zeke will never get his credit. Top 3 pg of all time..no questions asked. Last small to win it. If he was playing now, he would avg 28 n 12 easy..

Mr. Thomas is a wonderful human and I truly appreciate his heartfelt words of wisdom and love about life in a profession setting and in life! Love this podcast! Great job
Indeed he is. All the hate he gets is unfair by silly people who don't realize that because of his small stature being such a liability in his sport, he had to resort to mentally distracting his opponents to gain an advantage on the court. This is why he came across so vicious towards Jordan and Bird (his greatest eastern conference threats), all the while he genuinely respected their games.
@@LoyalOpposition Zeke had to remind Magic that he was well aware that HIV wasn't only contracted through same gender sex because his own brother contracted HIV from using contaminated needles as a drug addict. Magic rightfully apologized for not going to Isiah directly as a man and friend.
That was tough because Zeke and Magic were brothers and nothing; the fame, the money, the spotlight, was never going to break them up, but it did. And for all they went through growing up to let some superficial Hollywood bullshit break them up right from underneath them for many years was painful.
When I saw the thumbnail I IMMEDIATELY 🧐😢🤤😵🤯. My favorite basketball player of all-time. Nasty little dude right there. He has a hard streak in him. Psycho competitor. Love Zeke. The days when rivalries were real. Him an Pippen still hate each other. Bird and Laimbeer still hate each other. Miss that nba when you KNEW they were really trying to embarrass their opponent. Now they are all friends, smiling and laughing before and after the game. These brothers definitely need to be on mainstream tv with this podcast!! They are interviewing Zeke!!! Man they also had Kobe, Shaq, if they could get MJ, that’ll be icing on the cake!!
That would be the triple crown. If Jordan does do it it would probably be with these 2 first before anyone else because they with Jordan Brand since they were either rookies or 2nd year.

lol Kevo. This is the right time to have Jordan on though. And true Chistability, Q & D were rocking Jordan since they literally came into the league. If anyone can get a Jordan hangout player wise it's these 2
True legend. 6'0" but was one of the toughest ever, fearless. And all these old films in RUclips prove to us that he had out-of-this-world skills: scoring, shooting, handles, passing. Those old films are testament to the fact the he could score versus ANYBODY in a hundred different ways. Isaiah was the original Kyrie, or you could say that Kyrie is Isaiah's clone. BUT Isaiah is even better because of his mental toughness and leadership skills, both of which are the weaknesses of Kyrie.

Zeke the man. I'll never forget as a shorty, I was about 11 or 12. I was at an after school program on North n Kedzie, the man just rolled up out of nowhere. Me n my boy was going crazy bcuz we were like the only ones who knew who he was. As far as the kids. Anyway, long story short, the man gave me 50 bucks just for having straight A's, all 4 quarters babyyyy. The other kids were salty as hell. He was like, "See kids, being smart gets you paid". I was too geeked. Me n my squad spent that shit at Rainbow. Salute to Zeke. The city loves u bro
He'll go in as a coach. He was one of the top rebounders in the 80s. Rodman learned a lot about positioning and tapping the ball to himself from watching Laimbeer.
@@mangrove I see you know your stuff. Laimbeer was grossly underrated as a rebounder. Before Rodman's "arrival" Laimbeer was definitely the rebounding guy for the Pistons.
If yall aint noticing Zeek looks young as hell. Dude is very impressive given the fact that Magic, Jordan and Bird are the ones they stay talking about. Love for Zeke from me from this day on.
@@coollibra3644 I was just thinking that. Look, I am Lebron fan but if MJ had not taken that time to play baseball and just played straight through, his scoring numbers would have been untouchable.
Zeke is dropping jewels,if you understand the game and his game. I been watching Zeke since he was at St. Joseph and when him and Doc Rivers had battles. Now,when he says, "Passing Game and Position less basketball." He's revealing something few people, that when Pingator got Zeke at St. Joseph,he personally told me himself, Isiah was a forward and his jumper needed work. Mainly, what the passing game did for Isiah was taught him to read defenses and how to move without the ball. Must basketball experts and coaches was in a fog about his game, because they didn't understand his ability to move without the ball. Go look at his old clips at Indiana and just watch how he moved without the ball. I dare say,he moved without the ball, better than any point guard in NBA history. That's one of the main reasons why Joe Dumars was a better fit, than John Long for Zeke's game. Joe would take the led with the ball and Isiah was free to roam. He was so smart,he could run his half court offense, without having the ball. I'm probaly, the only person that has figured that out. And if Zeke was to read my comment,I'm sure he would agree. He saw plays, possessions before they happened. He was playing chess the entire time. He was like a computer. And another thing,Isiah was the greatest leader,I ever seen play the game I love. Whatever he had to sacrifice of his game,to enhance his teammates strengths and win,he did it. But,if was one thing that probably frustrated him more than anything with his teammates was most likely lazy defense and not leaving it all on the court. His humility to become a master of the game by remaining a student of the game, coupled with his will to win, "By any means necessary." Puts right up their with the top 5% to play any sport. Salute
Zeke, the man who made me the hardcore Pistons fan that I am to this day. Always Loved Zeke's spirit he's the best Piston player to ever play here hands down. Much love to ya Zeke!

Isaiah Thomas and Kobe are two of the greatest at answering questions. Both are very smart and intelligent. When Isaiah Thomas describe an event or a scene for you, it’s like you were there at the scene. I’ve seen a LOT of Isaiah Thomas’s interviews. The fact that He knew what no one else knew AND he said it straight up on National 📺...big respect. Yes, he is a deserving HOF'er & Champion in basketball, but he reminded me of one thing we often overlook...It's bigger than the game and so are we. I still can't stand his Detroit team though. Chumps hurt Pippen and tried to hurt Mike, just to win. I've touched plenty of guys up, but never with intent to injure. I can't accept that as good sportsmanship, but I don't mind respecting a player who's earned it.

I was born in 1977. When I played in the driveway I was either Isiah or Jordan. Those two were the standard.
Zeke is the truth!
@@mobetta2092 That's awesome.

Everyone lights up when they say “D.Rose” it’s amazing. I feels like everyone just loves the dude.
@@chistability5405as much love as we have in Detroit for our Pistons and D-Rose rockin with us, he belongs back on the Bulls.
When Chicago people put Drose above Zeke and dwade as the GOAT from Chicago that should let you know how big his impact was on the game and the city cause Zeke is arguably the greatest to ever play from Chicago 💯
Let’s not forget Terry Cummings and Zeke’s teammate in Detroit Mark Aguirre.
one of the best leaders of all time
Rose was on his way to take Zeke spot. Rose from my neighborhood on the South Side and Zeke from my ex-wife neighborhood on the West Side still friends with her
poppa slim 💯💯
Chicago GOAT .... The Original Detroit Bad Boy... Detroit vs. Everybody
That's right the captain of the bad boys

Isiah is the greatest. Hope he gets on the "All The Smoke" podcast.
Greatest Basketball player and mind of all time. He can be commissioner of the league and things wouldn't be outta place one bit. The Basketball would certainly be 10 times better than what it is right now, but the NBA wants to go in a different direction. A more European style of Basketball. Which is shit!
@@DEEDUBZ not saying he wouldnt be good but the league is doing great right now. It is softer but the fan base is at an all time high. Casual fans like no defense high scoring games so thats the way they're going
The league is shit. All the media and networks promote is a fraud..a phoney..a fake. A bum that they've throwed in 9 Finals and has lost 6 times. There are some excellent players like Durant, Leonard, Curry, Lillard and some others but they don't get the appreciation they deserve

He was killin it in high school too. He owned Chicago before Jordan came to the Bulls.
Prob one of their best interviews ever and im not even a Zeke fan. This episode and the Kobe one Top 5 .
I have a new respect for Zeke, being from Philly for whatever reason my pop hates him (and Magic), but he seems like a good dude
If he played for dantoni he'd probably average over 40 ppg

That was tough because Zeke and Magic were brothers and nothing; the fame, the money, the spotlight, was never going to break them up, but it did. And for all they went through growing up to let some superficial Hollywood bullshit break them up right from underneath them for many years was painful.

This whole conversation is 100% hood! I'm a MJ fan who detested EVERYTHING Detroit for obvious reasons, but I knew Zeke was cool peoples when he was on tv with other greats saying, "We always been here". All I could think was 'I'm not the only one who knows we are The American Indian'. My hate turned instantly into respect.
