I met George Crumb in the 70s, as a student at Peabody Conservatory. We had a Visiting Composer Series, where we got a private lesson with various composers like Milton Babbitt, Crumb, Donald Erb, Otto Leuning and many others. He was very quiet and very intense.
George Crumb serves as one of my inspirations in the realm of contemporary music styles, and he shall perpetually remain as one of my most beloved composers!
Thank you very much for uploading this wonderful interview! I absorbed every word, specially I found the idea of writing the final part your composition first to know where you're headed very fascinating!
