Love you all ideas for future planning. I agree that the garden needs to be in full sun especially in the morning and daytime with perhaps some shade towards the late evening. Put the seating area a little more in the shaded area vs putting all the garden in that area. I look forward to your planning. Everything looks so good. Have a blessed day.

So glad Pharaoh is better! Nice to see him smile again. Also, Neco and Natalie, the two of you are so respectful of, supportive of, and loving toward each other. It is such a beautiful thing to watch and a perfect example you're setting for your children. P.S. Quite a few vegetables require 6 to 8 hours of full sun. It can be tricky to find the right balance. As you both said, you should definitely track the sun patterns throughout the day to see if and when the trees will block the sun. These patterns may change a bit with the seasons but not much. The intensity of the sun will change, too, of course. Neco's camera idea is a brilliant start. There are times that I wish my garden did not have as many big trees hovering over my garden and blocking the sun. On the other hand, there are other times - such as in July and August - that I have to use shade cloth to protect the veggies here in NC. Think ahead about which veggies (and flowers) you want to grow and check what their sun and soil requirements are generally. (You're probably already doing that.) Then strike a balance in deciding where to build your garden beds. I wish I had before I put in raised beds. No doubt, your garden will be beautiful no matter what!

The white rock would really make the buildings "pop" since they're painted black. We have white rock in our raised bed area and it's working great for weed suppression. We put down layers of cardboard first, then added landscape cloth, then the rock. Check out the Yard Art in Barberville, Fl... the gates!!! Oh my goodness! I have a video on my channel of all their goodies. The stock changes frequently and they always have really interesting things. Pharoah is killing me with his cuteness! That hat ❤ and his little teefies ❤ Oh!My! Gracious! Your Bougainvillea (bo-gan-v-ya)is looking fantastic! Thank you for sharing your Homestead and plans with us. I just can't wait for y'all to start 2024! All the plans and how they are going to look! If they take longer, who cares. It's your place, and you want it done right. I know it's gonna look amazing!
I do really love the weeping bottlebrush trees! When I was in AZ, we had a bottlebrush bush, and it was amazing!
    The bougainvillea
    ( boo • guhn • vi • lee • uh )
is really beautiful. My brother, when he and his family lived in Az, had a BIG bougainvillea bush and it had some MEAN thorns on it! They were like and inch long and sharp as all get out! I remembered what he looked like after he got done trimming it up! Looked like he was fighting a cat to take a bath!!!😳😱 He had scratches all up and down his arms and legs, and there was blood all over him from all the thorns!😳😱 So becareful when trimming them. Oh and when it gets established, they are hard to kill. My brother tried everything to kill his cause it was MASSIVE and was taking over his little back yard.
Your place is so beautiful and y'all take such good care of all of it. Thank you for sharing your plans for 2024. God bless.

Pharaoh is so handsome! I’m glad he’s feeling better! I’m also glad y’all are feeling better! Neco, that flower on the chicken coop is a boo-gan-via! It’s going to cover the whole spring! Beautiful color! Your eyes are as big as your hearts! I hope you can get it all done, I bet if you uncover the pool, the girls will want to use it more. As they get older they will want to have their friends over and the pool will be a nice addition to their sleep overs! I have three daughters so I’m a professional!😂 I’m not even going to go there about boys, my grandson is quite the handful!😅 I love y’all! Just know that peas (purple hull) need full sun and so do tomatoes and okra! Being from the south I know Nana probably eats all of those especially the tomatoes and okra! Hey! You know I have to jump in a write a small book for ya'll. I love just brainstorming ideas for gardens and such like. I've done a lot of gardening over the years and always have tons of ideas.
I was talking to one of my cousins who lives down south about their well project. They decided on was a privacy fence around the concrete platform their stuff is on with a big gate on the side they needed to get into for their water filter. Then they threw on a tarp roof to protect their equipment from the elements. It didn't cost much and looks pretty cool. Really cute part they put a sign on the gate labelling it the "Whale House" with a little humpback whale across the bottom.
As for the pool I would make that into a little fishpond. It's big enough that you could grow out some good-sized fish in there. Stock it up with some freshwater mollusks crayfish, snails... you can build a whole little ecosystem. It might wind up being cost prohibitive, but it seems like a waste to just throw it out. It could also, much more cheaply, be converted to a massive, raised bed garden. Talk about mole prevention.... It would be easy and cheap to build a Huegel culture mound in it. Just start dumping in wood leaves grass clippings animal waste, surplus moss from the trees...It would take some time to fill up but talk about a cheap massive garden, that would be it. You could even run some little berry bushes around the outside to kind of break up the outline of the old pool.
On the chicken area, I got a good chuckle... it's a boo-gan-veal-ya. I would go with some foxtail ferns. They are unstoppable in southern climates. If you want some good color around there, tall French marigolds are perennial in your area. Even better they are a nutritious snack for chickens. Your second idea of putting the vegetable garden back behind the coop and having a cut flower garden in front is the most practical solution. Most vegetables like full sun. However,...if you want to grow lettuces or brassicas that shady are might be your best hope. They will not tolerate the heat and sun y'all get down south.
Just some thoughts I felt the urge to put out there. I do a lot of gardening, but Florida is a long way from where I am so don't take me too seriously.

Guys your property is so beautiful . Have thought of creating a wedding venue ? You mention planting flowers which would be perfect for your business. You have the ability to build your own portable floors and store in your barn. I want you guys to dream big. I love watching homestead shows. Alaska Last Frontier had an episode where one of the main character had a flower business on their property. When COVID occurred she was unable to ship out flowers for weddings. The audience would ‘nt known she owned a flower business if COVID hadn’t occurred. You and Natalie have the ability to create a million dollar business or more with the help of your wonderful family. You have the food truck or caterer in your family. You can create wedding packages since you enjoy decorating and creating. I’ve been thinking after you asked the fam what you and Natalie can do to allow you a chance to work on the farm full time. I would suggest to purchase a saw mill to use the wood on my I property to build tiny hms. I would use the tiny homes as part of your wedding party package.
Wedding parties would have the ability to have everything done at one location. Good luck to you! Continue to dream out of this world and build your legacy!!!

I love your farm. I can see your vision. When I listen to your ideas I think of Chip and Joanna Gaines. They have similar visions and went through with a few. I had mole issues here. For years I was adding the products you need to get rid of then. I finally found and solution Between me and my neighbor who was on board with cont. the idea steered ours away. I 1st use then only battery operated stakes to push into the ground. Now they are solar you can get from Wakmart. But Im sure Amazon gas them now too in queantity. You can hide them around you plants busges as long as sun hits them. Apparently its the sound and vibrations it make that scares them. You can hear them as well sound off but not disturbing. Good luck with that. I love your dream, much success to both of you to raise foods etc. for your family!

What about a flowering vine on the part that you didn’t want to see behind the barn.

You have a lot of great ideas. I love what you have done already. Baby Pharaoh is adorable as can be. I wanted to tell Egypt she is really good at basketball.😊🥰❤❤❤

I like the below outdoor kitchen idea. With some unique entertainment (shapes) features facing away from the water filtration situation. Maybe it would draw the eye away from the unattractive water filter set up. Would that work for that location? Do you already have an outdoor kitchen/entertainment area at or near your house? If not, it would take some of the stress off your indoor kitchen. I'm a new supporter so I don't know if cooking outside is something that you guys do.

I love your plans for the property. You might want to rethink where you place your raised beds. That is a pretty shady area that you showed us. I feel you will struggle with lack of sun

I have noticed that you all do not have a diveway, garage, or carport as you park on your grass. I would love to see that on your homestead.

hydrangeas love the warm morning sun, but they dislike the heat of the afternoon. The best place to plant hydrangeas is in a sheltered location with sunny mornings and shady afternoons. there my be too much shade where they are now but I dont know that for sure
