    Making A Half Nut, Lead Screw For Homemade Lathe
    New projects homemade lathes bed (second lathe)
    Hello RUclipsr, today I’m glad to share my new second homemade lathes.
    I do happy to make a bigger size because my first lathe the size is a bit small, when milling a big plate of thick metal is not easy because the length is not enough space to milling than the plate metal I used is thin most are 10 mm thick.
    So I decided to make a new lathe bigger than the previous lathe. Now there is enough experience to make a new lathe also.
    I hope you all enjoying my new lathe from part 1.

    I see you used the tail for a measuring distance. For your part you should be measuring the front blade is flat and under it is a step it may have be a little better for your use. The top is a lot less pokey as the tail rod and the top has a large flat on it. Thanks for sharing.

    Acme thread?

  • @bustednuckles2
    @bustednuckles2 Год назад +4

    The thread on the rod is called ACME thread. That rod and nut are pretty huge for what you are building but at the same time won't wear out anytime soon.

      Thanks for your introduction to the best way, never had done it before and do not know how to call. My concern is gear because the gear all set numbers.

      @@mr.ranyhomemade2466 ACME is for Imperial (inch) thread.
      I think you said it's 30mm? (that is huge for a small lathe, normally around 20mm for 1.5 meter bed)
      Metric version is called a trapezoidal but metric Acme also works

      It's funny you know why because I never knew and never saw too. I believe a guy at the shop told me make this strong so when I got is big. But no choice

    Like Max Bigraves used to say on his show, "I want to tell you a story......", and here we see and hear much the same thing. It is annoying when you have to hear a guy's life story before they get around to the task in hand. If you have nothing to say, say nothing, and if you have too much to say it's better if you keep it to yourself. the work will speak for itself. We are not uneducated morons who have no knowlege of metals and machining.
