  • A little video I made of the Parachute Regiment.
    Although the days of large scale parachute assaults are over, the Paras are the UK's number 1 quick reaction force for the entire world - from Sierra Leone to Afghanistan, these guys have seen action in every single UK conflict since the second world war.
    Their selection is the hardest outside of special forces, consisting of a 10 mile run with a 35 pound bergen and rifle, the Trainasium, the 60kg log race over 1.9 miles, the two mile march with 35 pound bergen and rifle in 18 minutes, the steeplechase (1.8 mile cross country followed immediatly by an assault course), Milling, Endurance March of 20 miles in 5 hours and the five mile 175 pound stretcher race.
    any comments/likes/subscribes are greatly appreciated :)

    The most famous, respected and testing Regiment in the British army. The trainings fxxxxx tough. Dad, uncle & cousins were Paras.My uncle was one of first Paras in 1943. Fighting the Nazis ar Arhnem. I trained with 2 Paras. But couldn't get in as I was developing a medical condition. I was left gutted. But now work in Para Veterans support. But anyone wanting to live. To really live. Go for it. And become a member of a very special, Regimental family.

    Just be grateful that Britain has the finest Paratroopers and Commandos anywhere in the world!! Highly respected and feared for a reason. I wish I didn't have asthma and rejected 3 times by the Military to see If I had what it takes to join one of these elite regiments. Full respects to both units.

    The best way to join the SAS is to enlist in one of the elite regiments, namely the Paras, Marines or Foot guards, but you can join from any other part of the forces too.

    I did my time in One Para in the 1950's. It was hard but fun. All 3 regiments are equally good. Not much has changed I think. The SAS and SBS are 'Special Forces'. The Paras are infantry, just the best infantry there is, period.

    Well SFSG was only formed in 2006 and 1 para became permanently attached to it so no longer can you join straight into it. You need to first serve at least 2 years in 2 or 3 Para. Everyone in the Paras will get cycled through 1 para and receives extra specialist training there which they of course take with them when they area cycled back to 2 or 3 Para. So if you want to be in 1 Para just pass the standard Para selection and you will get your chance.

    a lot of people are on about royal marines vs para's but despite one being army and one being navy, which has the harder training and which comes into play when?

    @MrNobodyGivesAFuck Nice! Was it 1 Para? In that case i'm joining the Paras! How hard is it to get into the first battalion by the way, what skills do you need? i know already about the selection process for 2 and 3 Para, and have been training for it for a long time now, and i've also been considering II sqn RAF (airborne) aswell. Whats your opinion?

  • @Bwhshadows999

    Someone please explain about 1 para SFSG. Do you get chosen, or what...

  • @PANGEA95
    @PANGEA95 12 лет назад

    is there a pass or fail selection process to get in though? Don't need to give details because as you say, you can't. Just want to know if there is a specific selection for it.

    Dream is to be a para, got my mile and a half down to 8.45 seconds, can do 60 press ups and 70 sit ups in under 1.20 and pull ups I can do forever. Also my compounds lifts like the squat 150kg and my deadlift is bang on 200kg. Are these decent enough results to do para training? 18 years old, weighing 13 stone. However my physique is fucking shit and my arms are like pipe cleaners. My second question is, do you have to be "big" to join? Cheers, I want to join just before I'm 19 which is in 2 months. Any chat back would be sound. To all the veterans thank you and I will follow in your footsteps.
