Just a heads up for anyone using this on unreal, the smoothness map needs to be inverted to use it as a roughness map. White is rough, black is smooth.

Can you invert it in the software (I can't find where) - or do you have to do it in a photo app?
Just a heads up to anyone using in UE4... you can use the smoothness map and connect to the 1-x node (OneMinus) in the material editor to invert the Materialize smoothness map to a roughness map.
this is something pro artists hide behind a huge paywall inside there tutorials on gumroad etc xD. U sir a awesome!

This is a literal godsend for me right now. This works just as well for painted UVs if you are using images as stecils to paint onto objects. This works well to generate the maps that would come with this!

Yes
The ideal situation is to take your own photos shot under very mild lighting conditions. High noon over-cast is perfect.

if your pbr textures won't show up on your file here's the solution to fix it.
You can do it manually.
first on materialize you will see an "s" on each of your maps
press the "s" on which map you wanna save then find a picture any kind of pic that you want to overwrite it on. then do it for all of your maps.
keep note on materialize you can't save them by creating a folder cause if you try your maps won't show idk why tho, you can only save your maps by overwriting it on a picture.

From my tests, image must get squared before import it inside Materialize otherwise the "seamless" feature will keep some hard seams nonetheless.

I have not had any issues as long as the texture is a good resolution

Just save material and use it in UE4
Save maps import them in ue4. create a material, head to material editor and use those maps to make the material.
i have an issue, textures are not loading when i open it
Try installing the newest Visual C++, then move the program file in program files, and then make a file in the materialize file - and then put your images there. then open the images from the file and you should be good to go.
The built in bump vector are not good enough?... I usually use bump vector with image texture
I noticed that when i bring the height maps into blender, there's a lot of blockiness/pixelation going on which i suspect is the bit depth of the bumps materialize creates, because when i zoom in to the height image i notice lots of banding and in blender they show up as "wavy" pixelated lines. Is there a way to work around this Grant? I tried running the maps through PS, messing with the bit depth and blurring as to remove the banding but no luck. Any help would be appreciated. Love your videos.
The file type can make a difference
What about the other maps to incorporate into Blender, like the metallic map, smoothness map, Edge Map and even the AO map?
Metallic should be usually a black and white texture determining whats metal or not, you'll have to specifiy yourself

For some reason I'm unable to save loike Grant does at the very end. I selected PNG then save project then created a folder and then named the file and clicked select but when I go to windows explorer there's nothing in the folder I created. Weird

materialize won't open images. They won't show a preview in the file browser for it. Any idea what might be causing this?

@@grabbitt I'll be watching to software closely. I think it has amazing potential.
I would disagree. In fact I would state, "Lossy JPGs at low resolutions do not perform well as a source for professional PBR textures." I have created many PBR textures with huge JPGs which I'm sure nobody could spot without rendering a huge sample of the image at a ridiculous resolution. IOW, today's smartphones can create some amazing images for use as PBR textures. Not to mention the height map and several other maps were extremely destructive (blurring, data compressing, etc..) to the JPG artifacts (if there were any-- couldn't see any because of the overall noise in the original image and the limited resolution of the video).
Also, I might add Grant did tile the original image a number of times, thus increasing the virtual resolution of the final map-- which is always a good thing for small textures.
One last point I'd like to make, while this is a great PBR tool, I think the tiling algorithm (blurring the tileable edges) isn't as powerful as something like PixPlant, which does a superb job of creating tiles (but not near as good for PBR) ruclips.net/video/saEmsjpzpF0/видео.html

How do you make a displacement map from the Materialize output? It doesn't seem to be covered in your other videos just assumes you have it. Or am I being blind?

They can be incredibly useful so possibly worth it if you use those type of textures a lot

Wow...v2.79 looks so out of date now. I wonder what you'd have to do to do this in Blender. The normal map would the tricky bit, imo. Maybe an add-on. Pablo Dobarro would probably have this done in a weekend.

Well, some Windows programs can be run though Wine on Linux. I might try that.

I'm afraid is been a while since I have used this
Click on the 'Show Full Material' button below the Smoothness Map. And to get the Normal Map to enable Create button, Create button click in the Height Map box, click Set as Height Map on the Height From Diffuse (panel on left below the map boxes up top). Now you can Create button click on the Normal Map box area.
