As an investment, none of them. As a place to live maybe #2. #1 was too nice, but honestly that location sucks. Being that close to the station is cool, but the noise from the train and BIKE parking right there is for sure no. #5 way over priced. #4 too much needs to be done to make it worth it. #3 maybe since neighbourhood looks nice.
The turquoise property was absolutely gorgeous! And the last property, no.4, where you risked your life with the dodgy staircase has A LOT OF POTENTIAL! Thank You Shu, for your hard work and showing us so many interesting houses as always. Peace & Love 🇬🇧
Great vdeo SHo! I was wondering if you could answer this in a reply or a video: What stops corporations from mass-buying all these low priced buildings like what is happening in America/Canada as of lately? I'm surprised that hasn't happened yet with all the big tourism happening since Japan opened up after the big "C" .
The simple answer I can give you when dealing with clients with Shu, is 1 no VISA and 2 sellers won't sell them to such places and 3 most important is if the land type is farmland then they can't/won't sell to anyone who isn't willing to live there full time. And a 4th would be that a lot of them aren't good revenue producing investments. Prices have been going up tho in some areas because locals are noticing as well as some foreigners (a lot of Chinese) are starting to buy them. It's getting harder for me to buy in my area of Saitama now as prices have at least doubled in the last 3 years. Luckily I started 12 years ago.

We stayed in near Kamakura in Hase last year and we loved the feel both that area and Yuigahama. It has such a nice quiet neighborhood feel even though the beach was only 2 minutes away. That being said number 3 was a wonderful house and we know Kita-Kamakura is only a short hop to Ofuna which connects to so many areas by train.
@@shumatsuopostOverall I confirm the third one. The fourth could be interesting only if it could be rebuilt... and only if there is owned land attached to it...
I imagine the homes that are in need of major renovation would go down in asking price. They're basing the price on what you can see. Hire a professional inspection to see what the underlying issues are to get a cheaper rate. I wouldn't pay $66k for a home that requires more than $80k+ in renos 😂
The last two houses would be great as far as investment properties go if you’re willing to put in the work and have the funds. The last house unfortunately, I feel is priced way too high for all the work that needs to be done to it. But definitely great potential amazing locations and the view is stunning for those two houses.
With the Bank of Japan deciding to end its negative interest rate policy and also what I hear, the 2 price structures to deal with the influx of tourists, where they would pay a higher price for commodities, how does this affect the housing market, especially if buying a new house? Thanks Shu.
how feasible do you think would modernizing something like a kominka be? adding insulation, ac, modern toilets/water heaters...it seems like most houses don't have a garage or place for a workshop except places in the countyside....they also seem to have more land
All are regular move in ready, not really abandoned but regular houses for sale with a high price to match, except the last ones, 4+. The #4 one is actually extremely dangerous considering if there’s ever an earthquake….good luck. It may even have to be torn down. #5 has a ridiculous asking price since you can get a brand new house for that money.
Thanks for the videos. I was wondering, if you buy a property in Japan, you have a little bit of land, and you find natural resources like gold, oil, natural gas... Do they belong to you, or does the government own them?
The price of house in japan is crazy.. I buy 1 house on beach in my country with 100mt2 + 400 of the plot land + in the place i like i buy 1300mt2 of plot land with a house of 100mt2.. For a little house in kamakura i buy in my country 2
Shu, Hello. The house before the last house is a money pit! I could see it was tilted when you came in the front door. The last house is a no from me! Bless your heart for climbing up that ladder and wabley. The owner is looking for someone that's gullible!
Nr1 and Nr5 seems overpriced. Nr.2 and Nr.3 Seems much better value compared to 1, but its far from station, for car ownders no issue though. Nr.4 Seems too much work to repair.
#1, nope, and no to all the others. Nothing special at all w/ Zushi beach IMO. Never understood the appeal, sand is bleh, water is dirty, same for Kamakura beach. I guess cause it's one of the closest beaches to Tokyo/Yokohama, but it's not even close to being half as good as e.g. Shirahama in Izu.

Glad you like it!
Property 5 is featured on FangTokyo channel today, looks to have been renovated (except for the stairs outside!).
I also came here from there😂
No.4 for sure. And great price ,cheers
You are a risk taker :)
omg ..that trap door was 危ない !
I'd be tempted to go with #5. The reno would be expensive but you can rent the top floor out separately.

I live in Zushi and I've seen many properties that could be akiyas on my jogs. How can you find out for sure if they're actually abandoned?
Working on purchasing condo, will keep you updated
Best of luck to you!
Good luck with the condo. Interested in how it goes.
The first few houses where nice, a bit over my budget though sadly. The quest continues. Thank you.
You can do it!
Nice!!!
I think I'd like the third house... let me think...🤔
Which one do you think is the nicest?
@@shumatsuopostOverall I confirm the third one.

@@axios101 Third one is nice and it's in good location. Good pick!
OMG! The last 2 were insane! They want entirely too much when there is so much to be fixed to even make them livable!😅😅
that ladder was giving me vertigo just watching lol. i'll be visiting kamakura for a few days next months it looks like a wonderful area!
It really is!
Here!
#3 for me. Already renovated but maybe a bit pricey.

Glad you like it!

I know someone who was renovating those around the 5 lakes area near Mt Fuji.

When you say 'tilted", does it mean earthquake affected?
Thanks shu ~
I'm planning to buy property in Japan for my retirement soon.

I live a 5 minute walk from that pink house in Zushi.Next time you are here please hit me up and I will give you a tour of the area.
Akiya - abandoned, rural.

People don't understand how important a parking space is in Japan.
Why do you assume that?
Why are these houses so cheap?
Depopulation, Japanese are not marrying in huge numbers nor producing children and the elderly are passing on...
