- The Miliarius is a special custom order piece and the concept behind this luxury mechanical music piece is a chariot race; the winner is entirely random. Glenn Moss presented this to his wonderful wife of 41 years, Gigi Moss, in May 2022. She was blown away. Gigi already owned a Reuge Francastel 3.144 music box that Glenn purchased for her in 2021.

I still want at least 150 grand to spend on a large sized Wurlitzer band organ, one of only 30 survivors of only around 50 made(1905 - 1939).
Edward Taylor Paull did write a march called the Ben Hur Chariot Race... it was written for pianos but is popular with band organs. You can see videos of that march on the Norumbega Park Wurlitzer 146B, Circus World Wurlitzer 165 and other organs.

I remember that my uncle had a similar machine, but it was more arcade-based you put a nickel in and it was pneumatically operated, I believed it used a similar mechanism to a player piano to randomize the winner,

This is absolutely awesome. You mentioned at around 6 min that the chance of horse 3 winning is low but at that stage it is again 1 in 5. The chance "resets" after each race.
I understand and what I meant to say is that the probability of the same horse winning three times in a row (before the fact if you were to gamble prior) was low
@@troyduncan1969 I thought that is what you probably meant. But it is strange that it in any case feels as if it would be less likely - but that is probably just a human brain thing :)
@@Induku Mathematically, each play of the race yields a 20% chance that any horse will win - even if the same horse won the two prior times so you are clearly correct. However, if someone were to gamble that a specific horse would win three times in a row before starting any races, the probability exponentially goes down from a probability perspective.
@@troyduncan1969 Yes, the chance that a specific horse will win 3 times in a row is 0.8%. But the feeling that the same event will not happen again because it has happened already has lead to some betting strategies (the Martingale betting strategies) - but you should have enough money to double (or in this case increase 5x) the bet each round after you lost a bet (not recommended unless you have very deep pockets).
