I heard this song for the first time a year ago, as it came on one of the cable channels that plays music. I was holding my very upset 2 month old daughter, and as the song began to play I couldn't help but gently dance to it, bouncing and bobbing up and down. Oddly enough, the rhythm of the song was perfect to put a baby to sleep, and it forced me to contemplate the passing of time. In a couple of decades I might be dancing with her at her wedding. She will travel on, and I will travel on, from place to place in the endless march of time. I love this song, and that moment will always be cemented in my memory because of it. Thank you, to each and every member of The Decemberists.

So weird. Last night i purged my playlists and wanted different music and went back to indie after years i end up finding songs i listened to so much it feels so weird to rediscover these songs again

This is a great song. My local public radio station (one of the only listenable stations in the Dallas/Fort Worth area) introduced me to it and plays it a lot. I love the Decemberists...they make pleasant, intelligent music. "Streetside smokers, holy rollers...find me a toilet to die on." That's some brilliant songwriting.
I got to know the band when I worked in the northeast for a year, and I like them. And I'm NOT a ultimate frisbee, private college loving, trust fund baby.....just a normal person. Great band.
gramme parsons Ultimate frisbee is apparently just a professional rendition of frisbee. Sounds kinda fun actually, so I guess I'm an ultimate frisbee baby now?
Finally! I preordered the EP. It ships 21st or 24th of December for Europe. Can't wait! I was a little bit dissapointed when i saw this song was not included on the album, but i was secretly hoping it would come out on EP and it did! Can't wait to hear the rest of the songs!
I know many shitty rappers who get 1 million views per two days and then i see that and i would cry - what a song is this, great melody, touching lyric, really masterpiece in my opinion, and views like that... What a shame, this is a song that deserves millions views. 🎶 Best regards from Czechia aka Czech republic.
If you ask me, this should have been on the main album, I'll Be Your Girl should have been on the B-sides EP, and the main album should have been called Traveling on while the B-sides EP should have been called I'll Be Your Girl
My first thought was... why didn’t this make it on the IBYG album. After listening, I can see it doesn’t fit. Still a great song; Colin Meloy is the Bob Dylan of a new generation!
I swear on everything holy that I hear an acoustic version come on the radio at work. But i can’t find anything, and no other version or cover can be found. Does anyone know what version I’m talking about??

That baby must be breakdancing by now
One of these melodies that have somehow been with you all your life until Colin decided to make it manifest in this song.
Reminds me of folk songs from late fifties/ early sixties...takes me back there
i believe thats whats referred to as "timeless"
What the hell do you know about that? This is important...I've had over 10 of these incidents with me and my gf
Woke up in the middle of the night with this song lingering in my head from the dream I was having.
I love you dad. I’m sorry your passing was so hard. Please be at peace now. I love you with all my heart ❤️

Colin Meloy's understanding of the English language inspires me. What a band!
He's got a degree in like English or something, makes sense!

I suspect somewhere on a shelf in Colin's home and/or studio sits a very well-worn Thesaurus .

The Decemberists did it again, no surprise there, I'm a big fan and probably will be for life!
The weary, plodding determination that pervades this album, I'm feeling it.
One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard! Goosebumps!
I could listen to it all day
Nicely wriiten, a wonderful song.
I really like this song. It caught my attention when I heard it on WFUV and now I have it on my playlist in my car.
Excellent jam🤘 the Decemberists are always the mood.
the decemberists need more fans there music is GREAT
A cloudy tuesday morning commute.
Pure genius
I like this. I like it a lot!
Sin dejar de oírla.Sin dejar de sentirla.
Brilliant voice he has. Like a spoken voice

a song about the heart.
"find me a toilet to die on"
boy i never related more to a song than right now
@GenXer i think he'd rather die like elvis than tour more
Bad diarrhea hey. We've all been there
Gorgeous, moving song and then... "find me a toilet to die on." This is why I love you guys so much.
This sounds like the beat of my heart.
Then you have a serious case of arythmia
This will be my anthem as I envision paying off my loans and traveling. True freedom, the thought of it got me tearing up
I just heard this song on the radio and had never heard of them before. I loved it!
really love this song
"Traveling On" debuted at #24 on the New Alternative 40 Chart this week!

A gorgeous surprise for my evening.
Another great addition to their catalog, always impressive.
I love you!
Smashing!
i love the long outro on this
I only know the last album-lots of catching up to do. There is a beauty here.
GREAT!
Love everything by them...some more than others...this is a more than...😊
Solid, not blown away but definitely solid. Looking forward to more
I'm in heaven!!
This EP is amazing! Much better than their last album I'll Be Your Girl.

@gramme parsons it's actually a lot of fun and too popular for hipsters now
did he say he was an ultimate frisbee, full stop
"Sold for a song" is a clever turn of phrase here... Suggests both the cheapness of the labor and the idea of a life sacrificed to music
Adoro essa música
Relaxing...
wonderfull
Excelente canción 💚
Eu amooooo amooo dms essa banda ❤❤❤❤❤
Good to see this on my recommended list.
This sounds evergreen :) loved it - the vocals + the relaxing upbeat music is perfect
Like the college? I agree that it sounds dope.

Brilliant
Very timely! Fits in it’s on way. Seems to be right there, but then again are my thoughts. Very very nice!
I like how relatively straightforward but memorable this is. it could almost fit on the 5 Songs EP,, which is still my favorite Decemberists release
i really like this song many times i played it, 🤭❤️❤️❤️❤️
Oh, yes, yes, yes.
Good job!
The most "road" road song to ever get in a beat up car and travel across long empty highways in the midwest

just in time for the end of november
the decemberists!
Great tune musically and lyrically.
The opening chords remind me of "Happy Together" by the Turtles LOL.
Yes!
Sure ! And, The Byrds
😍 😍 😍
The Beatles, The Decemberists; the two greatest bands to ever exist ever.
The Beatles were communist/luciferian, Alistair Crowley they admired, wake up.

I like this, but I’m prejudiced. I like most everything Colin and the guys come up with. And I’m a proud owner of Colin’s old distortion pedal!😀

He is nothing like Dylan. Ian Felice is the closest we have structurally, Conor Oberst is a close second.
