- The spring water "Oshino Hakkai" at the foot of Mt. Fuji, a World Heritage Site.
Oshino Village is located in the southeastern part of Yamanashi Prefecture in Japan, at the northern foot of Mt. Fuji.
It is a highland village at an altitude of 936 meters, surrounded by mountains such as Mt. Fuji to the south and Mt. Ishiwari to the east.
In this Oshino Village, there are 8 spring groups where underground water from Mt. Fuji springs out.
It is "Oshino Hakkai".
Snowmelt water from Mt.Fuji is filtered through underground lava over a period of 20 years and turns into spring water.
Oshino Hakkai was designated as a national natural monument in 1934, and in 1985 was selected as one of the 100 best waters in Japan.
Then, in 2013.
At the same time that Mt. Fuji was registered as a World Heritage site, "Oshino Hakkai" was also registered as a cultural heritage site as part of its constituent assets.
The appearance of mountain stream fish swimming in the clear water is one of the pleasures of seeing Oshino Hakkai.
The water from Oshino Hakkai joins the Katsura River and finally changes its name to the Sagami River and flows into Sagami Bay.
The scenery at the foot of Mt.Fuji impresses and gives a sense of nostalgia to those who see it.
Thanks for watching!
