If you're driving a 60 mph mega carrier super truck, just remember the truck stop parking lot is your chance to shine. Be sure and hit at least 7th gear and 2100 rpm on the back row. That will save you at least 2 seconds on your clock. That's like 2 cents Canadian.
Just FYI...The 1 to 5 am requirement on your 34 hour reset has been eliminated. I really appreciate seeing young blood coming into this biz. Especially one doing it right. Not just holding the wheel.

Stay safe out there brother 😎👍🏼
He says some of that stuff on the video Things you need to know before getting ur CDL. He's said his highschool gf's dad was a trucker which inspired him. Take a look at this interview too truckerpath.com/blog/trucker-spotlight-dakota-caldwell/
It's interesting when you're good enough at something that other people start asking for instruction, but you're still practicing and looking for guidance yourself
I’m so glad, not sure how being in Cali, I still get to use the good ol’ swindle sheets running all over between Modesto-Bay Area-Sacramento -Redding-Chico. I usually end up needing to park it for 30ish minutes to let my log catchup.
The tricks I've learned with elogs.... time your fuel stop, I usually, line up behind 1 out 1 in and 1 waiting at the island, and go off-duty for my 30min break. I usually also run reefer, and we're fortunate enough right now to be able to run HOS EXEMPT hauling food product. Just ran 14 1/2hrs from McAllen TX to Wichita KS.
This was both hilarious AND informative lol Thanks for this video, I'm trying to get into the dispatch realm of trucking and you explained everything perfectly :-)
In my second week driving with my trainer watching this. Been sitting at a shipper in Yuma for 6 hours watching trucks come and go. I have driven all of 7 miles today and I am down to 6 hours left on my 14.

Hopefully I’ll see you out there one day brother. Stay safe and keep on rolling 💪🏽.
I’m not a truck driver so mixed content is not an issue for me. I follow a guy called Bruce Wilson on RUclips who works on restoration projects and that’s interesting stuff. As for the teaching, sometimes it’s easier to follow the information when it’s coming from the frontline and not a classroom ! I drive coaches in the UK and the way the driver hours are structured are very similar......9 hours a day max driving, 4.5 hours max in one hit then minimum 45 minute break etc.
G'Day Mate, It's a similar set of rules down here in Australia just different hours for work and rest times. Just found your you tube channel and enjoying the content. Love the Peterbilts especially the 389. Keep up the good work brother.

Good explanation, but the government has said that you DONT have to do ELD at least until next year. My dad works for STBI (look them up) and his trucks do cali and back in 2 weeks and they're not doing anything for ELD and the cops aren't stopping them. Now I don't know if your boss wants you too still do the elog stuff, but you guys might want to do a little more research if you're still doing your ELD.
I would keep this channel for trucking related. I enjoy it to watch and it motivates me to reach my goal to become a trucker. Big motivator is it to see your truck and being independent. I got the motivation back after my illness and that is also because of your videos. Keep on rolling. Cant wait for the merch to drop soon.
@@High_strung I watched the Video a second time LOL. It was here 5.30 in the morning when i watched it the first time. I wasnt awake. But if i were you i would put it on this channel also. Its also part of your life as a trucker when you have time off. Keep up the videos and that jake brake sounds so good.
Loving the new intro bro! Come on! EDIT: since I started watching your videos, I realized that driving truck is what i want to do. (Don’t worry it’s not just bc or your cool looking videos) I worked at a furniture company driving a big truck like that and spending 11 hours out on the road. Anyways, I just wanted to say you are the motivation I needed, and now I’m in the process with CRST. They ran my MVR & background check, and hopefully within the month I’ll be in Missouri training for my class A’s
Personal conveyance is only available during the 14 hours meaning if your out of drive time but still have time left over from your 14 hour shift then you can use PC status but if you've run out of shift time and drive time then PC is not available to you. All activities/status are subject to the 14 hours including off duty during that shirt cycle. so if you went off duty for 6 hours after working for 6 hours you only have 2 more yours to spend and that's it.
Dude, you need to stop stopping for rejections ...Love the sign on your rig... High Strung... This old lady would love to have been a trucker.... Love to drive anything and your stick is awesome, I should have said gear shifter but I love a stick. Thanks for educating us.... Would love watching your new project on here... Life Behind the Wheel is the name of your channel....
Content is king my man. The benefit to creating the stand-alone channel is you capture more of the specific audience and you'll appear in more and more suggested viewing options that are targeted to drifting or racecar-related viewers/demographics. I would predict that your trucking channel audience will grow but you'll see more peaks and valleys from an engagement POV. Explore your fav genre-specific creators - Are they a jack of all trades or masters of one??
If you think about it it's not much different than a 9 to 5 factory job, you do as much as you can on your shift, if you use your time wisely 14hrs is ample time to do your job, then you get 10 hrs. off which is ample time to rest.
@@kellywhite1663 Well, that's kinda what the technology is used for, I suppose: so big companies can hire unskilled, unmotivated and untrustworthy labor, and pay them nothing and run them into the ground doing repetitive, identical work ....just like a factory.
Not really. I've worked on paper logs and then E-logs. It actually makes life easier because you don't waste time on putting everything on paper and can save you from a mistake of forgetting or putting wrong information. In my opinion it's a good change and still better then what is in Europe.
Meanwhile in Europe you can work max 15 hours a day 3 times per week, (leaves you max 12:59 min shift time once 15 hour days are used) Must have 11 hours rest between shifts or min 9 hours x3 per week Max drive is 10 hours twice per week other than that the max drive is 9 hours per day. No more than 56 hours hours in one week or 90 hours over 2 weeks. You can only drive 4h 30m before you need 45 min break. can't work no more than 6 days without 24hr rest or full rest of 45 hours
My vote is to keep the channel strictly about Life on the Road. It is very entertaining stuff, keeps the channel true to cause, and at least I believe and many others too, that there will always be cool shit to show us like when you explain shifting, or the jakes down that one hill, or the insight as why you do things a certain way (to each their own). There's no shortage of cool shit to showcase about your truck or the road, so this is why I vote to keep it on the road.
@@High_strung absolutely. I think it would be fantastic to check out the projects no doubt. Perhaps like a tacoSupreme313 channel that is more dedicated to you as the person/mechanical engineer. Oh shit. U went to Trans Am too? They tried to get me to train drivers. Every couple months I was trlling them NO. And hell yea go vlog style. Ill definitely watch.
First off “recreational reptiles” is the funniest shit I’ve heard in a long time lol you definitely need to make that a tshirt. Second it would be tight if you made a second channel for the project but I’d still be here regardless. Also good updates to the intro.
In Sweden the drive times are simplified like this, drive for 4.5 h rest 45 min (Split if you want to min 15 mins + min 30 mins) then drive another 4.5 h rest 45 min (Split if you want to min 15 mins + min 30 mins) then you can drive 1 h more 2 times a week...you need to rest at least 11h within every 24h 😁
Honestly, I would watch both types of content, I enjoy the trucking videos. I also really enjoy cars, especially drifting. My opinion for what it matters is to make a second channel and build that up, that way people know what the content of each channel is.
Thanks for the info. You explained it great for someone who is not even a trucker. Keep the videos coming, stay safe on the road and will keep checking you out.
This is good to know!!! I just passed my cdl school so in a few weeks I'm going to pick my cdl up, but I remember one of the instructors telling me about the new HOS. I didn't fully understand it, but I think I have a better idea now.
I just want to offer my services as a wingman when it comes to getting the numbers of truck stop felines. I am a good prop, a solid back up player, and I know how to work the diner crowds. I think I will help you save time, build your confidence as you roll the wheels out, and I expect to be released into the general population in 2039.
Biggest take away from the smallest point......drive an un-governed truck that can do the speed limit, or do something else like sell shoes or work in a flower shop.
Damn that cashier lol. Found the channel a couple of days ago and love it. I'm a bus driver so it's a lil different for me but mad respect for what you do man. Keep up the good work 👍
Meanwhile in Europe.... ''oh you've driven 4,5 hours? Time for a mandatory 45min stop (you can split this but end of the day you need to have taken 45 mins before end of shift), max drivetime of 9 hours per day (including pre-tip to get loaded and stuff), and max 6 days per week (56 hours - cause you kay extend by 1 hour driving twice during each week) driving. Within 24 hours mandatory 11 hour rest... USA seems to have a better system if I compare.
@@benjaminschipper1508 indeed it is. I’d love a system like the USA - and the overall length rules and tegulations changed. I dislike cabovers, but we are tied to it with they stupid length rule.

I enjoy your how-to videos. You give it to us straight with some humor mixed in. Definitely do videos about the things you do besides trucking. I think that would be very entertaining.
Well - its your career and you have to follow your "gut" as at the end of the day you and your family need quality of life and keeping solvent. The older you get the harder it is to change things but that does not mean you cannot go back what is the most rewarding for yourself. In essence - the less stress - the longer you live!!
I think all those numbers made sense. I'm not a math whizz by any sorts, but when I am, I do stay at a Holiday Inn Express :D Anyway, thanks for the rundown on how the clock works. I was familiar with how your shifts go and doing personal things before you start your clock in is really great advice I'm going to remember just in case I end up getting into the trucking field. These kind of videos are very important even if you're not perfect at it, which I do not expect you to be. How you do this channel is up to you, I would honestly say I've really enjoyed seeing what you do from a different perspective where we get to see, yes, this is what trucking is like when you decide to enjoy what you're doing.

Oh shit. U went to Trans Am too? They tried to get me to train drivers. Every couple months I was trlling them NO.
And hell yea go vlog style. Ill definitely watch.
I'm a car guy too man, so bring on both the project builds and trucking!
This is great! Time management is key. Great video! Keep it up!
I've mentioned drifting in the rig to save fuel I like the other stuff he does also
You may not like teaching it but you do a great job explaining it! BTW, in the "old days" of paper logs, there were always two sets!
Aye big dog, you a good teacher I’m bout to help y’all with y’all parking problem you helped me
Not a driver but respect what you do and learn alot.
Great job on the videos and explaining. Be safe and keep on trucking!
Have a long time friend that drives. He tells much the same as you explain. He's goes by sling shot
. He's out of Philadelphia Ms area .
I just want to offer my services as a wingman when it comes to getting the numbers of truck stop felines. I am a good prop, a solid back up player, and I know how to work the diner crowds. I think I will help you save time, build your confidence as you roll the wheels out, and I expect to be released into the general population in 2039.
I’d love to see you build what you got! Keep expanding
I haven't heard the term "lollygagging" since I watched Bull Durham. Cheers 🇨🇦 Great videos.
Europe is way too difficult and you are treated like a criminal if you make 1 simple mistake
@@benjaminschipper1508 indeed it is. I’d love a system like the USA - and the overall length rules and tegulations changed. I dislike cabovers, but we are tied to it with they stupid length rule.
Absolutly expand content! Your videos are awesome! But do it as you feel fit never be too busy to have a life man
Would love to see what you do on your down time away from trucking. I think your all around aspect of trucking , along with a taste of your projects away from being on the road will add to overall view of a great thing you have brought me to enjoy watching you. Takecre, b safe..." Come on ".
