- This is the brand new, not yet released Ryobi 18V ONE+ HP Brushless Airstrike 21° Framing Nailer. I put to the test and demonstrated all the features, so you can see if it's right for you. If you're looking for a 30° nailer, they offer that too, so you can reach into tighter spaces.

This is the first video I clicked on to how it works because I need a new nailer. I have never seen a nail gun throw out so many sparks, I think I am sold on battery tools. After scrolling through the other 175 comments, I think I am joining team Ryobi and getting this as my framing nailer. Ryobi has a magazine extension at the date of my Comment. Thank you for the video.

I would love to see the comparison to the Milwaukee. I found that it works great but is so darn heavy. Great video!
I quickly weighed the Milwaukee with a 5Ah battery and it was slightly heavier. I hope to compare these soon.

@markthomasbuilder yea I was surprised how well it actually sunk nails. That was a shocker for real
with the traditional nailer, when you are using it and pulling the air hose connected to it, the weight/force actually adds up if you think about it. Especially when you have to do different angles, needs even more strength to pull the hose
Good point, I never though of it before but it add up after awhile in spent energy.
We usually hang our pneumatic gun on our pouch, and hanging this battery gun feels like I have 3 pneumatic guns on me; I can feel my belt grinding into my hip.
As for the hose weight, the hose is usually on the ground/plank/hanged so the hose is negligible.
It was great my friend. I was thinking that these tools, which are becoming more advanced day by day, have made life easier for us.👍👍👍👏👏👏👏

I have all the staplers and all the nailers that Ryobi makes and I've been waiting for this Framing nailer. I will be buying both the 21 and the 30. Loved your review and it looks like my collection will be growing by 2

Why both? Different applications I guess? I’m torn. I like the 21, which is what I have in pneumatic, but like the paper sheets and steeper angle to get into tighter spaces. And you can get full, but offset, heads in 30 degree.

Liked your video, and I did watch prior to using the first time. I just bought this product last week, never used one before so was a little nervous. Come to find out with reason, I put the nails in the wrong angle pulled the trigger twice and the nails shot through the magazine and jammed two others. Long story short I broke my gun. Wrote this to caution any other novices like myself, and to try and save you money. Bought another nailer cause I still have the project to finish. I LOVE Ryobi tools. Just wished it wouldn't work if nails were put in backward.
Thanks for sharing, this was helpful to know. I've tested several nailers by different brands and noticed the instructions don't really show close ups of how to load it properly. I'll consider taking an extra 20-30 seconds in my upcoming videos to demonstrate that part.

Thanks for your review. I noticed sparks when in use. This could be a fire hazard in hot weather.
I didn't realize there's sparks from that until recording this video clip.

Steel anvil in tool and steel nails..... I think any nailer can spark!
I suppose you didn't notice that there is an on-board allen wrench so that you can service it in the field also. If you look closely at the nail magazine you will find an allen wrench. To get the Allen wrench out you have to put finger pressure on it and slide it to the right as you lift up on the tab that holds it in.
Thank you for sharing that. Normally I look for on board tool, but that one blends in well.

I'd like to test them out side by side. The 30° definitely gets into tighter spaces.
Where is the link for the air fill? I love the gun EXCEPT for that....its almost impossible to get to.....

Not that I know of yet. Makita fans would definitely like to see one this year.

Can nail between studs such as backer fills or bracing? Like when putting in pieces between studs where you'd offset each of the fillers to keep your studs straight.
I think the extended clip for rigid should work for ryobi

That's a great question. There's a lot of people who like the 30 so they can get into tighter spaces. I think 21 is more popular with framers.

I am building a shed this summer and have no power. Bring a genny and compressor would be a real pita.
Once it's released and 40,000,000 are distributed the ATF will come along and make a "rule" that these are assault weapons because they have an automatic feature that allows you to fire multiple nails with a single pull of the trigger.

I have the Milwaukee 21° as well. They're both excellent nailers. I need to do a comparison between the two of them soon. As far as the 21 or 30, it's hard to say. If it's just for around your house, you may like the 30 for getting into tighter spaces.
I’m a bit confused about the air fill valve. Must you fill it every time you used it or is that just in case you run out of battery.
The air fill valve isn't meant to be filled much. It may need to have air added in the winter freezing weather. For the most part, you only need a battery to run this. If the performance is lacking, then add air.
How long does it take to chanfe the battery and will the 30 degree be available in the UK
At 329 its 40ish bucks away from the Milwaukee. Ill wait till its 269ish. It looks great though.
Maybe there will be a Memorial Day sale.

This one is definitely better than the Dewalt framer. I was a fan of the Dewalt when it came out so I could go cordless. Other brands have raised the bar and I'm anticipating Dewalt to release a gen2 version soon.
How much was that nail gun and does it come with the battery and the charger or do you have to buy everything separate

Yes, they're available in the US now. I'm not sure about UK availability.
What’s the difference between the 21 degree and 30 degree?
The main difference is the 30° can get into tighter spaces. They each use slightly different nails, but both shoot round heads.
Also note that the 21 degree models will work with most building codes whereas the 30 degree model is YMMV
Mostly the 21 deg are full head nail, plastic collated, and the 30 deg are clip head nails, paper collated.
@@olafbigandglad you can get full round head(offset) in 30 degree nails. So should meet code now. I have 21 pneumatic and might buy the 30 ryobi for tighter spaces. And no plastic shards flying at yuh and more cleanup

No, it's battery powered, so no need for oil.
Have you found it difficult to find nails for the 30°
I don't have a 30 degree except for the clipped head Senco I own and yes I can find nails for them very easy. I've also seen 30 degree round heads readily available.

21 degree just came out. Random stores getting small batches. Click the link in the description. Closest ones are like 90 minutes from me. I bet I can get it next week. But, I think I’m going to wait for the 30 degree. And possibly keep my pneumatic 21 degree as a backup. Seeing I couldn’t get much for it lol

And if you get a ridged tool and the lifetime service agreement, you get a lifetime free battery replacement.
@Garry Harris agreed... but I'm so heavily invested in Ryobi that is tough to justify changing platforms. And then there is the fact that there are 3x as many different Ryobi tools. Love Rigid's warranty though

I currently have the Dewalt nailer (all my other tools are ryobi) the Dewalt fails badly in hard lumber I wonder if this will do better in old oak and such...anyone try that yet...Definitely hope to get rid of the Dewalt and get 1 of these
This has some nice kick to it and instant power, unlike the Dewalt unit which has to wind up. If the Ryobi nailer doesn't drive the nail in far enough, there's an on board air valve available to top off. I haven't tried it in oak yet, but it seems powerful.

Yeah, it's a beast. Lots of power with the 4AH HP battery.
It needs to be told do not walk and hold gun by trigger in bump mode . I have seen to many guys drive a nail in leg while walking 😂

Interesting, I just looked at the Senco and noticed it has an air fill valve too.
The senco is a great bit of kit,,,, I haven't used the ryobi so can't comment on it, s performance.

Ehh. I feel like I would get laughed at on the job site if I showed up without a millwalkee or dewalt. Lol I do like this nailer though. Very comparable to the millwakee. I like my dewalt better though because it doesn’t way 45 pounds lol.
After testing this out awhile, I'd rate this as a pro nailer, even though Ryobi is often considered a DIY brand.
I'm going to have to weigh my DeWalt framer again. I didn't think it was that much lighter, but will reply back when I get a chance.

Well, after you show up and do work, you can laugh at the others as they try and wrestle air hoses, set up air compressors, generators, and have to lug is all around.
Then you can tell them that you paid way less than they did for your tool that works faster, lighter, and does the same work.
I hate brand myopic people.
"If it's not yellow or red it's garbage". Mean while I have been using the same Ryobi impact driver for the last 10 years............ At least it's not made in China........ Since 1985 Ryobi has been made right here in the US of A and Japan.

@@MarkThomasBuilder I would LOVE to see it because Milwaukee is the one to beat as far as framing nailers goes. Milwaukee brand is for the pro's and Ryobi is the the average home owner, so to see Ryobi step up and possibly beat Milwaukee would really say something about the brand and where they are headed. Called Ryobi yesterday Wed. Jan 18th 2023 and they said they don't have a release date for this tool. That the tool is still being developed..........

I explained that there are tons of videos online of people using this nailer, but you can't buy them, that of course was answered with the typical "Ryobi sent them for testing and review" reply.
So basically this tool has no release date, is still being produced, and will not be available to the consumers anytime soon.
I was told recently from a Ryobi rep that it would be sometime in February.

I'm sorry, I would not buy this because of the name, home owner tools, not pro tools.
For a home owner tool, this has some nice kick to it. Ryobi's HP versions are what I would say is prosumer.
