    hello guys. im from czech republic and im pretty impressed with your hockey culture, your backyard rinks and your hockey skills even between amaters. I love this game since early childhood, but I grew up in a time where it was not possible to play hockey. unfortunately in the early 90's, after the change of political regime, we were all very poor and my parents couldn't send me to play hockey. so all most of us could do was play hockey on a frozen pond. That's why I think that's one reason why our generation today isn't as strong at hockey as yours, but it doesn't matter, we still love hockey. I hope to be able to visit Canada one day

    • @pearlmax
      @pearlmax 3 года назад +2

      Why would a sick person who is quarantining themselves want to skate? If you're quarantined, it means you have a disease and are isolating yourself from healthy people so that you don't spread it. That's what "quarantine" means. It does not mean that the psychopathic elite decide to shut down the world over an alleged virus with a 99.6% survival rate that nobody has seen any verifiable evidence for. Using death and infection statistics that are admittedly falsified as the fuel. Use proper english. Call it for what it is. Lockdown, and the stripping of basic human rights and free will, causing a social disconnect and division between docile, impressionable, naive majority, and those who actually use their head.

Masking your faces, recirculating your own toxic exhaled waste for hours on end every day, being scared of other people, psychological abuse of an entire generation of children. Volunteering your natural health by getting injected with man-made, genetic code altering, first of its kind, short term-tested experimental injection in hopes of protecting yourself from a mythical illness that nobody has seen, or can produce any verifiable evidence for the existence of.

When I was playing minor rep hockey in Calgary in the 60's and mid 70's...we played on outdoor rinks for most of our reg season games...and only got to play on indoor ice for the playoffs...or if we played a small town team that had their own arena, like most small towns have. I don't remember getting regular indoor ice time until my last year of Bantam AA. Every single community in the city had at least one outdoor rink but usually 2. But from I can gather, not any more. I've lived in Prague for over 30 years and dont get back much...but really miss outdoor ice. There isnt any in Prague worth putting your skates on for and they packed with pleasure skaters.

    You’d have to be very wealthy to have a rink like this built with a cooling system. Thankfully I live 2.5 hours north and my ODR is naturally cooled and in a much nicer setting (trees, rock, quiet). It’s 40x50 foot with boards and netting. It cost me a few hundred dollars!

    I dont care how much money these people have. Kudos to them. Thats an awesome backyard rink. Look how happy they are playing on that rink. Money does buy happiness.

    Only wish I could have something that awesome in my backyard in Nova Scotia. We don't get the weather to cooperate even with a chiller. It was raining and +14 the other day and same weather expected on Christmas Thanks for posting, it's nice to see this stuff.

    Beautiful!
    Here in Germany lots of rinks have already been de-iced in December due to the pandemic :(
    Amateur sports is not allowed so there is no need to maintain the ice for months if you can already foresee that the situation won't improve in winter.
    Lucky you, really! This will be a whole season without hockey now here in Germany :/

      exactly same situation in Estonia. and whats worse is for like last 3-4 year winters have been so shit, its always like plus 1 or 2 and you just cant make a rink or go on a pond and i feel like we are losing winter forever because i remember as a child we had amazing cold winters and hella snow every year

      Yep, true for Germany as well.
      Here in Munich we actually have quite a lot of rinks where you can play hockey. But so many of them are outdoor rinks where the season can just start in November if you are lucky enough and as of mid-February they start to de-ice already as it is way too warm.
      Last year we had some practices on outdoor ice in January where it was so warm and windy that you could barely play. The wind blew all those nasty leaves onto the ice so you would just slip away and the rain which was coming down just before just accumulated in the corners without freezing or you had a lot of small elevations from the freezing rain on the ice and would fall down all the time...

    So embarrassing Being a Toronto native knowing that they closed outdoor rinks due to Covid that’s ridiculous. Something like this should be embraced during Covid for mental Health, it’s one of the few safe Canadian experiences people can have to be healthy and enjoy life during a pandemic. limit capacity and of course enforce mask wearing but other than that man let people live!

    Why does a backyard rink have advertising on the boards? That ruins it in my opinion.

    Outdoor rinks aren't closed in Toronto now. And I don't think they were when you recorded this. Maybe you meant for hockey? You can skate on all the outdoor rinks if you book online or show up as a walk-on and there is room.
