First time seeing the channel? I'm HALF PEEPS (aka peeps4321 or Samuel). I make video game animations here on RUclips, mainly using SFM (Source Filmmaker, animation software running on Valve's Source game engine) and S2FM (Source 2 Filmmaker, the updated version of SFM running on Valve's Source 2 game engine). Most of my videos are related to Valve Software (mainly Half-Life and Portal) but don't be surprised if another franchise pops up occasionally. Starting RUclips back in 2013, in 2020, I hit my first 1,000 subscribers (took me long enough, I know...) and subsequently hit 10,000 in 2021. My ultimate goal is to reach 100,000 subscribers. Half-Life is a series of first-person shooter (FPS) games developed and published by Valve. The games combine shooting combat, puzzles, and storytelling. The original Half-Life, Valve's first product, was released in 1998 for Windows to critical and commercial success. Players control Gordon Freeman, a scientist who must survive an alien invasion. The innovative scripted sequences were influential on the FPS genre, and the game inspired numerous community-developed mods, including the multiplayer games Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat. Half-Life was followed by the expansions Opposing Force (1999), Blue Shift (2001), and Decay (2001), developed by Gearbox Software. In 2004, Valve released Half-Life 2 to further success, with a new setting and characters and physics-based gameplay. Portal is a series of first-person puzzle-platform video games developed by Valve. Set in the Half-Life universe, the two main games in the series, Portal (2007) and Portal 2 (2011), center on a woman, Chell, forced to undergo a series of tests within the Aperture Science Enrichment Center by a malicious artificial intelligence, GLaDOS, that controls the facility. Most of the tests involve using the "Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device" - the "portal gun" - that creates a human-sized wormhole-like connection between two flat surfaces. The player-character or objects in the game world may move through portals while conserving their momentum. @@ThadMDnotfake_.. There is definitely something Half-Life related in the works. Proof? The source 2 ambient npc manager tool has a whole new source 2 houndeye model in it's icon. Not the Dota 2 one nor the Black Mesa one. (Also, there are no ambient NPCs in CS2, and I can't think of any Valve game that could use the tool besides Half-Life.)

(Spoilers for HLA and also the leaked plot outline of what was supposed to be episode 3, "Epistle 3")
Marc Laidlaw has stated that he always envisioned HL3 being the end of his involvement in the series, but that the door would be left open for new writers to build on it. Half Life was supposed to be a story that never really reached a conclusion. HL2ep3 was supposed to end with Alyx being taken into service by the G-Man for unknown purposes and Gordon being sent to an uncertain place and time for the events of the next game to pick up.
That was originally the plan, but I think Valve's current staff is having similar ideas. They ended HLA with the plot point of Alyx being taken by the G-Man, so it's likely they're co-opting the Borealis for their own original story, but still wanted to keep the barebones structure of Laidlaw's original trilogy intact.
The Combine cannot be defeated, the nature of the G-Man can never be revealed, Earth can never really recover. So from a writing standpoint at the current place the Half Life Universe stands it'd be hard to write a satisfying ending.
I don't know though. Valve absolutely still has some amazing writers, so I think whatever they end up doing will be for the best.
Since they not only went out of their way to say Gordon Freeman was going to return at the end, but even slightly altered the ending to fit their new story, I find it hard to believe at very least they didn't have a plan for a new production of HL3 before HLA came out. HLA took 4 years to come out after it started development, but it was a fairly small game. If Valve keeps to a good pace and doesn't fall too far behind on Valve time it could be releasing in the next few years. GOD I WISH SO BAD

This song is so great I love it, it takes me back to that early 2000s era, when electronic music was popular and it also reminds me of music by artists like Armin Van Buuren. It also reminds me of an era where things were more simplistic, back then everyday technology was not as advanced, it was more rudimentary so to speak and there was a raw beauty in that. I remember those times fondly and with warmth, back then I was also in my home town in my home country in Romania, Eastern Europe, and as Half Life 2 takes place in a fictional Eastern European setting there were so many similarities between the game, it's architecture and vibes and my surroundings, going around my home town was like walking around a real life City 17 sort of, minus the Citadel, lol. The early 2000s had a certain beauty and rawness to them

I think Half Life 3 should be the conclusion to the series, many games, tv series, books and movies that ran for too long slowly lost their identety and left a legion of fans mad. I would love to have not only a conclusion but an explanation of everything that hasnt been explainned, to know who Gman really is and to get rigd of the combine. I would love to know more about Gordon since he was always our vessel into this world, think about everything he has been thru, the one free man, the guy deserves not only a rest but to come back to his family and wake up like nothing happened, he didnt deserve to be used as the pivot for everything that happens, I guess at the end of the day the right man in the wrong place can make all of the diference in the world...

epsiode 3 was cancelled and no one really tried again until alyx, its not confirmed but we might get more content, just not the third game. In a interview a designer for alyx said that alyx felt right to jump back into the franchise, so maybe more is coming.
Based on alyx's ending I would find it hard to believe they're just gonna drop that and then never follow up on it. That's not a world I want to live in😂
I don't imagine it like this at all. Valve wouldn't make it like that. More like a teaser with G-Man saying "Time Dr Freeman? Is it really that time again?" with Hazardous Environments starting up with a HL3 logo popping up.

5 minutes ago i finished Episode 2. Half-Life in general is probably one of the best games i've ever played. When i saw the ending i finally understood why HL3 is so waited.
If this is a real HL3 I would really like to see the Dyson Sphere and spaceships mentioned in Epistle 3 and seeing a Combine eldritch species/higher ups that are superior to the Combine Advisors and having humanity and the combine to have a tie instead of humanity win.

Gordon and Eli find the Borealis, they fight their way in. . . Eli feels the only way to get Alyx back is to use the tech. Gordon and Eli (accidentally) teleport themselves and the Borealis to Aperture. GLaDOS finds them and realizes they are from Black Mesa by abserving Gordon's HEV suit. Seeing that Eli is handicapped she imprisons him while forcing Gordon to do some (unfair) tests while mocking him and expressing more emotion against Gordon than she usually does.
When Gordon gets through the last test finding Eli trapped in a cell behind glass barriers, GLaDOS louders the floor they are standing on into a pit and is about to crush them. Eli yells: "SOB AND HIS UNFORSEEN CONSIQUENCES!" Before the crusher could completely land on Eli and Gordon, a soft "wait" is heard above them and the crusher is raised away and GLaDOS brings Gordon and Eli back up and she asks "what. . . did you say?"
That's what I expect.

Even after all these years I still hope. I wish they'd either prioritize game development again or sell the franchise to someone that is interested in continuing it and won't ruin it. Though I admit I don't know who that would be these days.

Would love to see an adaptation of the half-life games i.e. 1 & 2 into a film trilogy, with third film veering off into its own distinct story. I think that because video games are such a visual medium that a translation of them to film format would be a perfect avenue for expanding and hopefully brining Gordon Freeman's journey to a conclusion. Just a thought I had when watching this trailer.
