- Recorded live in New Haven, CT in August, 1987. Some of his last recorded work, this gig shows how he changed his approach during this period. Previously renown for turning his amp volume wide open and playing without pedals (ca. early thru the mid-70s), in this recording you can hear him (and the band) using different effects (e.g., delay, chorus) that were ubiquitous throughout 80s pop music. It's a jarring contrast for me (I preferred the style on "Live Stock") and I was hesitant to post this (as I am hesitant to post his version of Zeppelin's "Rock and Roll" from this same gig: garish, over the top). But it's part of his catalogue and one for the archives.
Roy was one of the few guitar players who makes his sound with his fingers and not with pedals, Raw , soulfull and unique. He deserves more recognition from the public.
Hmm, I hear reverb and delay within 1 minute.
@@papadavewatson Yes but usually in his heydays he doesn t use pedals or effects
Had the good pleasure of seeing Roy play in Melbourne, Australia, in the mid-80s. I recall the place being so jam-packed with people that it was hard to breathe. And I kid you not, he tortured his Telecasters. For a blues guitarist he possessed an uncommonly ruthless style of playing. 🎸🔥
Was that the gig in Frankston
@@robpapp2145 St Kilda. Although I don’t recall the venue. It was a popular Pub for live bands.
He had a unique way of playing raw and soulful. . I never heard his version of "Rock and Roll". I love anything he played because he was such a master player. This is different from his usual style yet haunting. Thank you so much for posting.
He is one of the best guitar players that apparently not so many people know about.
What a shame he left so early…..one of the greatest guitarists that ever played…..sad that he was so underrated and relatively unknown to most
This cut is new to me and excellent!
There's so much great music out there and so little time to hear it
Este ser es espectacular lastima de no poder verlo 😢😂❤❤
Roy gets my vote for best rock or blues guitarist I ever saw live, and I've seen some of the best. His live blues licks affected me unlike any other guitarist I have ever seen.
I seen Roy at the Michigan Palace in Detroit the back up band was Aerosmith :-)
I agree, Roy Buchanan's guitar playing affected me like no other.
roy was fantastic, whats happened to music today you never hear great guitar music to day.
Saw him play in Boulder in the ‘70s ..so so good
Great 👍👍👍👍👍
My buddy, Pork Chop, said Roy can make a guitar sound like it's actually crying. By gum, he's right! Respect to Mr. Buchanan!
So sorry I didn't hear him before the 90s
"Master of the Telecaster"
Feet don't fail me now🎉🎉❤❤
Smooth
This Song is Cover of Neil Young
The description says their preference of his style based on Roy’s earlier catalog.
This might not have happened if Roy didn’t change his approach.
Sometimes the growth of others isn’t perceived the same.
No hate amongst Roy fans though!👍
I got lessons from Roy. He swears by solid state amps, that's for sure. Most people would be surprised, some pro's do.
Sound more like Neil Young’s voice
that dude is workin' his best to get that Neil voice....
agreed
Not his usual sound but what do I know..
I've been surprised when I listen to his live recordings from the mid-80s. When I saw him he played straight into his Fender amp

hey joe where you going to with that gun in your hand
Is that Neil Young singing?
No, but I can't say who it is. He's tryin' his best, however, to get there...
It's Martin Stevenson. Just google his name, live, new haven 1987. On one of the links you'll see the back of this album listing the musicians.
is this created by A.i?
Nope. Well, I can only vouch for myself, I suppose. This track is included among others purportedly recorded at the gig detailed above. There is some chatter between songs and it certainly sounds like RB.
If you have to ask the question that means you don't know 1987 there was no AI come on people
Even better than the original by Neil Young and Crazy Horse.....
buddy miles was better
There's only so many like him.
