As a European, These American Foods Shocked Me Beyond Belief!
Should toast not microwave poptarts
100%
Andre, toast the marshmallows by fire, not in the electric toaster.
Yeah, microwaves steam foods, making the PopTart soggy, whereas a toaster or toaster oven will make them a bit crispier and browned.@@VirginiaPeden-Harrington-qd5zu
Either works, but the toaster gives it the toasty flavor
@@ronaldmalcolm5609 You don’t have to microwave it very long. It retains the crispness it has out of the package. But it’s not as good as toasting.
Smores are more popular than poptarts and Smores poptarts are NOT the same thing as traditional Smores. Also the reason she microwaved is because it looks like she's in a hotel room, where microwaves are common in individual rooms and toasters aren't.
Hotels often have toasters during breakfast.
@@mikehermen3036 If there is a breakfast bar, yes. But not in the rooms. Open burner elements would be a safety issue.
S’mores are COMPLETELY unique and you cannot replicate the experience with Pop Tarts.
Yep, Not even close!
X 3 smores are done over a campfire, not in a toaster and especially no to the microwave!!
Your right but they're my favorite Pop Tarts. Toaster Strudels are better than Pop Tarts.
S’mores must be freshly made over an open fire. Poptarts must be prepared in a toaster.
Clam Chowder is best made at home, as otherwise it has waaaaay to much potatoes.
Pop tarts are meant to be toasted.
Pop Tarts are simply meant to be consumed. Doesn't matter if toasted, microwaved, or right from the package. I've done all three methods.
S'mores were around LONG before Pop-Tarts were ever a thing.
She takes hummingbird bites. She also talks as fast as an auctioneer.
I think she took one little bit of bread and lettuce and put the rest in a bin.
Kind of a business school class assignment vibe to the whole thing :)
S'mores taste much better than S'mores Pop Tarts.
And those are still good. Throw in a toaster, slap a little butter on the non frosted side, so good
that hamburger review was crazy... she only ate some of the lettuce and the bottom bun... haha at this point im thinking she making a comedy sketch
Yeah this is something that, on purpose or not, people who review American foods online do.
They either make the dumbest of choices (why always spray cheese? I don't know any American who actually buys that!) or eat them in the dumbest of ways.
I think they just want to hate them.
14:37 Thank you, Andre for being upset about her opinion on corn dogs, even though you have never had one.
A corn dog is best at events like fairs and ball games. They deep fry them fresh so it has a crispier texture. These ones are made and frozen and typically just microwaved so they're very different.
The cornbread should not be as sweet as the frozen kind generally are, either.
This is why I air fry store bought ones.
@@cartergamegeek huh yeah 🤔
@@unripetheberrby6283 Air frying can crisp up most anything.
they are called Pop Tarts because you are supposed to put them in a toaster and they "pop" up hot and toasty.
Except they've been pushing "good cold" as well for kids to pack in their lunchboxes or college students out of vending machines
The items to get specifically in San Francisco are sourdough bread, Ghirardelli chocolate, and Americanized Chinese food in Chinatown.
and See's lollipops
You're making my mouth water, and I'm not even hungry 😊
Fortune Cookies were invented in SF
Absolutely true!
Crab
Key lime pie isn't only made in Florida but they do grow the key limes there. They are different than regular limes
And I think it's the JUICE not the pulp in the pies
Definitely not pulp...even with orange juice it's like gnat wings floating around. Grated lime peel more likely the same as in lemon curd
God !!! The British equivalent of a California "Valley Girl" !!
AMEN to that!!!🤣
😂 so true !🤣
As someone from NY I have to say Key Lime Pie is the perfect dessert. Tart, sweet, delicious. I don't get a birthday cake on my birthday....I get a key lime pie.
NC here, I get a key lime pie for my birthday and every Friday the 13th.
It's not a Key Lime pie unless the Limes are from the Florida Keys or the Conch Republic Key
@@jamesbulldogmiller That isn't how biology or agriculture work, bud.
You can buy authentic key limes pretty much all over the country these days. I've made key lime pie many, many times and I live in upstate NY. I was able to get the recipe from Blue Heaven in Key West several years ago. They make the best KLP in all of Florida. We've tried it at at least a couple of dozen places in the Keys over the years and theirs consistently comes out on top! It's so unbelievably good!
PopTarts. The American version of British Tarts (not the sassy gals, lol).
And... Toast them. Do not microwave them...that is sacrilege!! Lol
LOL, Imagine making tea with water heated in a microwave. I've seen Brits horrified over that.
poptarts need to be toasted, not microwaved and also try with a bit of butter on the back
Corn dogs must be eaten - freshly fried - at a county or state fair, with mustard.
Lots of fast food places have them too
You should get fresh corn dogs with mustard.
Exactly! No mustard on a corn dog is like eating a piece of plain bread.
Or syrup if it's sweet ^^
A corndog is slightly sweet because it’s like cornbread surrounding a hotdog, but crispier… I like mine with both mustard and ketchup on it, and it should at least be hot!
I eat Pop-Tarts right out of the package! No heating required!!
Most people love corndogs lol. Especially children. I’m a grown man and I’ll still take one to this day.
You can only get good ones at a redneck county fair.
Or the no name brand at Save-A-Lot.
She microwaved it. You can tell by how flimsy it is. It is 100% better fried.
And if you're getting grocery store corn dogs, the only acceptable brand is "state fair corndogs"
Ugh, no. Do not microwave poptarts. They're supposed to be toasted, so they're lightly crunchy. If she microwaved the corndog, it wouldn't be as good. Again, it should be lightly crunchy.
The strawberry is good. I'm not fond of Smores.
I like frosted blueberry pop tarts!
WHen in a foreign country ASK the locals how to eat a certain food. Glazed doughnuts are Meh unless hot. Poptarts at best are ~meh even when toasted(strawberry is best)( and smores flavor is down right bad and tastes NOTHING like smores) Clam chowder can be meh, bad or down right delicious, but only when HOT, but you need to put the oyster crackers in it!!!. Corn dogs must be BAKED till outside is a brown(dark in spots and if you buy out of a gas station only the ones which have been under the heat lamp ~all day), and the rest ~ sure.
@@coollady2179 Plain blueberry for me.
@@w8stral I actually like chocolate chip cookie or hot fudge sundae poptarts
Who microwaves Pop Tarts?
PS Key Lime Pie is, indeed, quite yummy.
it tells you to on the package
FALSE Tinkerbell key lime pie SUCKS 😊
For convenience like every microwave
@@Supremewin777 if you think key lime pie it's bad you have no taste and don't deserve to share food opinions anymore lol
Love corn dogs! Mustard not ketchup.
Mr Fletcher 1942 Texas State Fair
I like ketchup. Hate mustard!
@@coollady2179
I will look the other way. Enjoy.
My family tease me that I only eat corn dogs to hold my mustard. I like a lot.
@@christinavarnum5521
😄
Mustard sucks Ketchup rules Statistically, ketchup consumption trounces that of mustard.
Part of the allure of smores is doing it around a campfire, usually on a crisp, fall night. You're with family or friends, hanging out under the stars, PLAYING WITH FIRE, showing the kids how to do it, MAKING MEMORIES! With smores the "journey" is as sweet as the morsel you put in your mouth! (We Americans are deeper than what meets the eye!)
You haven’t had true key lime pie until you’ve had it with fresh key limes.
It 100% makes a huge difference
There is also a tomato-based clam chowder, it's called Manhattan clam chowder. It's red.
Okay so she broke the cardinal rule at In and Out, not ordering her burger 'animal style.'
I bursted out laughing when I heard "I got regular froyo and vanilla" tell me you dont like flavor without telling me you dont like flavor
right, they probably had mango flavor or something colorful/interesting to show off for her video & she just dumped some candy over basic vanilla
I always use a lot of yellow mustard with my corn dogs.
The tangy vinegar flavor combines well with the sweet cornmeal batter and the savory hotdog flavor.
Pop Tart pastry turns me off.
When the toaster "pops" is literally where the Pop in Poptarts comes from. Do not microwave.
If she's in a hotel, the microwave may have been her only option. But S'mores pop tarts are awful. They can't replicate the taste of graham crackers. I didn't typically buy pop tarts for my kids, too much sugar. I used to grab one in the morning as a teen, into the toaster and then put butter on them, out the door, not the frosted pop tarts though.
The S'mores Pop Tarts are my favorite but I don't buy them often because I prefer Toaster Strudels.
No everywhere is key lime pie in the states. It uses key limes 🍋🟩 in it.
I recommend Funnel Cake. It is simple and delicious for when you are visiting the town fair or amusement parks
Yes! Funnel cakes over poptarts any day.
Dang that girl talks fast...
Poptarts cannot have real marshmallows in the correct proportion because they puff up when heated. You do not nuke poptarts, you either eat them cold or toast them.
Yeah, the fruit flavored Pop Tarts are best. The brown sugar and cinnamon ones are really good, too.
Yes! The brown sugar pop tarts aren't mentioned a lot but they're high on my list too😊
anything being microwaved will not taste good. she does not have a fresh corn dog and pop tarts should never be microwaved. I am not a fan of pop tarts but microwave is worst. She certainly did not try some of our best foods.
Key limes are grown is the Florida Keys key limes are smaller and sweeter than Persian Limes
The donut was a raised glazed one of my faves
Who microwaves pop tarts?
The people who put beans in toast.
@@TheRagratus😂😂😂😂
Anyone who wants to burn their lips, mouth, tongue.😅😅😅
British psychopaths
People in a hotel room with no toaster.
Frozen yogurt was HUGE in the 80s-90s. The store TCBY (This Can't Be Yogurt) was everywhere. They had an incredible white chocolate frozen yogurt and you could put topping on to mix in - I always picked chocolate chips. I probably had 2-3 of them a week in high school.
The "s'mores" are a thing that starrd in the '60s where it became sort of the defacto campfire snack.
Graham crackers and Hershey's chocolate bars and fire roasted marshmallows were mooshed together to make a "snack-witch" of sorts.
Tasty but not really an "oo, ah" item.
The warm memories and thought of 'smores, are way better than the actual 'smores
You need mustard on the corndog, or your favorite condiment. The batter is cornbread batter. They are delicious.
This woman is a monster, who the hell thinks that frozen yogurt is better than In-N-Out?
I've had in-n-out 1 time 20+ years ago, but I still agree with you. Sucks, but we don't have in-n-out anywhere close to me
@jikook7457 I went years without having In-N-Out. Luckily, they have started to spread to the east. We got our first location in my state about 3 years ago and we get a new location about every year in my city. I understand why they are so slow to expand, since they move a large portion of the staff in from over stores when they open a new one. They do that to maintain quality control.
@@marktisdale7935 anywhere close to eastern ohio? 🤞 🙂
@jikook7457 I'm sorry I live west of the Mississippi. You probably got another decade to wait.
@@jikook7457 How close is close? In N Out is coming to Nashville in 2025/2026
Whenever you try s'mores, I recommend honey graham crackers as the basic first choice and any brand of chocolate you would enjoy. Particularly one that fits your taste when it comes into contact with something warm, like the cooked marshmallow. As for the marshmallow itself, there are many ways to heat it, but the preferred method is on a stick over an open fire. Whether you want it to be a light, toasty brown or a crusty black, the idea is to caramelize the sugars and soften the mallow to where you can smash it into the s'more like a sandwich. If you have enough to make multiple ones, you can experiment to see which combinations and consistencies you like best. Personally, I like mine slightly burnt with a Reese's peanut butter cup.
nothing better than a charred marshmallow over an outdoor fire 🤤 for those who can't have a fire, the kitchen stovetop can be an acceptable alternative for "roasting"
She's young and cute and was judging by her own tastes which is perfectly fine. From the looks of it she prefers things that are not too sweet. Frozen yogurt is not as sweet as ice cream, Key Lime pie is on the tart side and then a savory. S'mores should be eaten as proper s'mores and not combined/produced in other weird formats (such as Pop Tarts). They are VERY sweet and children love them. By the time you're an adult and your tastes change you may have one occasionally for nostalgia sake but few adults that I know can stand no more than two of them. As a kid I used to love Pop Tarts but now I think they are too much "pastry" and not enough filling besides having a chemical aftertaste (personal opinion). And yes, that did not look like a very good corndog.
Clam chowder only a 6.5? Must be bad chowder, it should be a 10 all day. 😀
She got a clam chowder in California. That is like going to Canada for BBQ.
I am not sure that she put the crackers in the soup either.
Ivan’s is particularly good chowder.
Like going to Sudan for Fish n Chips
Now Corn Dogs the outside should be slightly crunchy from the deep fry. Inside should be hot. So golden brown sweet little crunch dipped in mustard... Love frozen yogurt but McDonald's serves frozen yogurt. Try frozen custard then we can talk
There are two kinds of clam chowder. The white, creamy one she has is known as New England clam chowder. The other kind is Manhattan style chowder (since it originated in Manhattan, New York). It is a tomato base, sort of like Mineastrony soup.
The corn dog is a hotdog covered cornbread. That’s all it is but still pretty good
Pop tarts are best warm out of the toaster. Corndogs are best at a fair and with mustard.
She's young & stuck on fast . Bless her ❤ 😊
Just like cloning dinosaurs, you "can" microwave poptarts, but you shouldn't. :)
S'mores (a portmanteu of "some more") are a great comfort food, commonly prepared at campsites with kids to make sure they have a sugar rush right before bed time. :) You can make them with any open flame like a campfire, fireplace, or wood stove with the door open. Graham crackers and Hershey's chocolate bars have perforations, making them easy to break into a usable size for biting. Break a graham cracker in half or a quarter, break off a section of Hershey bar and lay it on top of one piece of graham cracker. Toast your marshmallow, try not to catch it on fire or drop it on yourself. It's sweet but deadly like edible napalm. Grab the marshmallow between your pieces of chocolate and pull it off the skewer. It melts the chocolate which runs into the marshmallow and graham cracker. Let it cool and you get the sugar of the marsh mallow, the crunch of the cracker and the shell that was formed on the marshmallow, and the chocolate goodness of highly processed garbage milk chocolate. :) It's tasty, I promise. Real s'mores are far superior to any cookie or cake or whatever claims to be s'mores flavored.
In our grocery stores frozen yogurt is right next to the ice cream and in many flavors. Key lime is great.
Anyone noticing that she takes tiny Squidward bites of food?
brown sugar cinnamon pop tarts are better. that's just me though. Also yeah corndogs are better in the oven, air fryer, or fried. microwaved corn dogs are just if you dont care and just want to munch lol
In-N-Out is great for the price and everything is fresh. They literally have no freezers in their locations. All of the ingredients are sourced from suppliers within close driving range to ensure the freshness and quality of ingredients. They are picky about their suppliers and will not over expand or over extend their brand if they can’t guarantee the quality of their suppliers and ingredients in a location. That’s why they are still only regional and not a national brand.
We eat key lime pie everywhere here, not just florida. It's my favourite pie.
😂 bless her heart....she's trying....😘 BTW....we love yall Andre' .....Jenni from Houston
When you come to the US, go to a Walmart and buy a bottle of "Nellie and Joe's Key Lime Juice" ... the back of the bottle has a great recipe for Key Lime Pie
Key lime is my absolute favorite pie. In some ways it is similar to lemon meringue. They sell both the juice and the pie across the US, and it just uses the juice, no pulp. You really should try some if you can, you may even be able to get the juice there and try making the pie yourself.
S’mores must be made at a campfire.
Key Lime Pie is truly american and in my opinion the BEST pie.
I really dislike frozen yogurt. Probably because I don't like yogurt. Key lime pie is great.
3:40 S'mores are, indeed, quite delicious; however, it should be noted that part of what makes them good is usually the nostalgia associated with memories of making them around a campfire as young children. The taste alone isn't what makes them popular -- the experience adds to it.
cannot go wrong with brown sugar cinnamon pop tarts in the toaster, strawberry is a close second tho. she probably would’ve loved the smore one more if she toasted it. (edit:) she had a microwave corn dog that she bought from the store. the hot crispy fresh corn dogs are found on boardwalks, food trucks, and festivals/carnivals unless you make it from scratch
My family is from Key West, Florida (the land of Key 🍋🟩 Limes), which is the only Lime Juice to use making Key Lime Pie
Smores are WAY more popular than pop tarts
Oh my God! This woman!
Okay…the best corn dogs are made at the State Fair, because they are deep fried, especially the Texas State Fair. Now, you can make your own, or buy them frozen from the grocery store. The best way to make it is to deep fry them in hot oil. It is a corn bread batter, and should be crispy on the outside. You can microwave it, but it won’t taste as good. You can bake them and it’s better, but deep fried is best. I didn’t hear the crunch when she took a bite. Plus, she could put some mustard or ketchup on it for added flavor.
The only way to eat s’mores is to make real s’mores. Graham crackers, Hersey milk chocolate squares and toasted marshmallows over an open fire! Don’t try to get a s’mores taste from a pop tart! Pop tarts need to be toasted in a toaster! Not heated in a microwave! Try strawberry. With or without frosting. Even the s’mores flavor would be better from the toaster.
Yes, In and Out burgers taste great because they are made fresh and they have a nice char on the outside when they fry it!
The very best kind of burger is an authentic Jucy Lucy burger in Minneapolis. It’s a charred burger stuffed with a stack of cheese between two thin patties. It’s a party in your mouth! Also great with grilled onions, tomato and lettuce and pickles, maybe some ketchup or mustard if you like.
There are better restaurants who make home cooked food than Cracker Barrel. Cracker Barrel is a chain restaurant. It’s okay. Southern soul food from a certain high rated private restaurants are much better. That gravy is a milk/cream based gravy. It is supposed to be made with a little chicken fat or chicken stock for flavor.
Southerners love catfish. Northerners love Walleye fish. You can get Walleye in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, Canada… northern lakes. It has a natural buttery taste. Not a fishy taste.
You should try chicken tenders. Chick-fil-A fast food has great tasting chicken tenders. In Texas and Oklahoma, there is a fast food place located everywhere, called Chicken Express, which has awesome deep fried chicken tenders. You can get it with mashed potatoes and the cream gravy which you can dip your chicken tenders in…so good.
Key Lime Pie…get it freshly made, not from the freezer section of the grocery store. Go to a pie shop.
Costco has great chicken pot pie to make in your oven at home. They make rotisserie chicken at the store, which you can grab and go. It’s excellent chicken. Their chicken pot pie is made with that rotisserie chicken. And Key Lime Pie…Costco has a good Key Lime pie.
Minnesota…..Baker’s Square has great pies…they used to have a lot of locations but now they only have one or two in the Twin Cities.
Boston has the best ever clam chowder…they have clam chowder competitions between restaurants.
Frozen yogurt is just like soft serve ice cream. Corn dogs should be hot and with mustard…mustard compliments the slight sweetness in the batter very well.
Andre, thank you for your honesty!
S'mores are much more highly regarded than pop tarts. You serve S'mores at a party, people get excited. You serve pop tarts at a party... people actually might laugh, (unless it's a kid's party). They have their uses (mostly school bus breakfast) but Pop tarts are not really seen as a quality food in America.
pop tarts are eaten straight out of the pouch or toasted and strawberry or brown sugar flavors, corndogs need mustard. froyo or frozen yogurt is a ice cream substitute for those who cant drink milk (supposedly healthier), bugers are burgers. key lime pie is a florida thing, it's often made with lime substitute, still good but... smores are a campfire thing
"Eh" is the best way I can describe poptarts. I never really understood the hype. Even as a child. Terrible texture and so little filling that I could never taste it. The unfrosted ones are ok though. Pillsbury Toaster Strudels did it better
they used to taste better & have more filling, but that was probably almost two decades ago....corporate greed cutting costs on ingredients while jacking up store prices smh we used to have QUALITY
S'mores aren't something you can buy at the store. A real s'more is something you make. ...usually next to a campfire while camping. Those s'mores are truly the best.
She mentioned The Good Place when she was talking about clam chowder. The first season was frozen yogurt.
You *can* microwave them if you're in a big hurry, but the insides turn into molten sugar you'll burn the crap out of your tongue with. Much better to take 10 minutes and toast it.
If she was in San Francisco, that's the place to try some of the best Chinese food. :)
Looks like she bought the corn dog from a store. If you want to try a good corn dog, you have to go to an event or a fair where they make them fresh.
Frozen yogurt is an ice cream alternative
There is New England clam chowder and Manhattan clam chowder. They are both totally different.
Andre, if you try s'mores, you absolutely have to make sure you use roasted marshmallows and not plain marshmallows.
Andre, make your own s’mores! Please use all American products, including Hershey’s milk chocolate!😍
Got to put mustard on the corndogs..
Key Lime is one of my favorite pies, if not the favorite.
Frozen yogurt is like a less-sweet ice cream (but it usually has the live cultures of regular yogurt - so it's health food!) - therefore making a snap decision that it is yummy is not hard.
When I grew up a lot of the Pop Tarts did not have frosting. My favorite were cinnamon/sugar, not frosted ,(now they are). I would butter mine after they came out of the toaster, yum. I haven't tried the frosted ones.
For frozen yogurt i always get a cup and put a graham cracker down the middle. I do fruity yogurt on one side with fresh fruit, coconut shavings, juice boba, white cholate chips, and other fruity things on one side, then on the other side i do something decadent, like vanilla or brownie batter yogurt with brownie chunks, butterscotch, marshmallows, etc. Best of both worlds ❤
Key lime pie is my favorite pie. And yes, frozen yogurt can be life-changing. Especially if you've never had it. It's got a slightly tart taste to it but not always. It tastes like a richer ice cream and is lower in fat than most ice cream. She got a bad corn dog. It didn't even look nice and brown like it was undercooked. Some batter is sweeter than others. I prefer a less sweet corn batter. And never microwave a pop tart. Her fans should have screamed that to begin with but the smores flavor is my least favorite. The strawberry you tried is much more popular and good old fashioned chocolate is always a solid choice. Hint, after you pop tart comes out of the toaster put a solo of vanilla ice cream on top. You'll thank me later. Ciao 💋
Inreally like her shes seams like a confident and knows right away what she likes
She offended when she microwaved a poptart. lol. The poptart tastes better when you get that crunch and you don't send microwaves into the poptart.
I think she got honey corn-dogs because it has a sweet batter. Regular corn-dogs are not sweet and the one she had looked low grade frozen.
Absolutely, Pop-Tarts are a toaster product, not a microwave product! Lol
Andre- American here. Pop Tarts are nasty. Taste like cardboard and chemicals
Glazed donuts- depends on who makes them
Clam chowder (White)...Love it! Do not confuse with Manhattan Clam chowder, (RED) I don't care for Red.
In and Out- The best
Frozen yogurt...meh.. I prefer ice cream
Corn dogs...okay I guess.
Key Lime Pie- This is tricky. I love it, but sometimes people make it really sour or just a little sour. Too sour, I don't like . But, whipped cream fixes anything
Hi, key lime pie is incredible! I love yogurt, regular or frozen, but my favorite flavor of yogurt is key lime.
I treat myself to ONE corndog a year - I always get one during my trip to Cedar Point. They make them fresh and I just LOVE them.
A s’more pop tart is NO substitute for actual s’mores. They don’t taste anything alike.
