I have Black Cake, Before I Let Go, and A Love Song for Rickie Wilde on my TBR. I can't wait to read these books. I know that they're going to be so good! There are so many amazing black authors out here, so I want to explore more of what we have to offer. I do have a recommendation, if you are into historical romance, please read Indigo by Beverly Jenkins. She is a renowned black author whose writing is good, powerful and straw you in with her stories and historical experiences behind it. She has so many books to choose from, but everyone has say to start with Indigo.
If you are interested in fantasy, then I would suggest a few books such as Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi, The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin and LegendBorn by Tracey Deonn. All of these books have great reviews and are highly recommended.
Thank you so much for sharing these recs with us. I love your content on your channel, and can't wait to see and hear what else you are reading.

I agree about delegating in Why We Should all be Millionaires. I think if you don't have a certain type of money then simplifying life is key.

I finished it! It definitely could’ve had a better ending, but overall it was still good. I ended up giving it 4 stars. What were your overall thoughts?

@joycewesley Spoiler Alert! I felt like the story was incomplete … yes she had an ending but it was probably too rushed. The part that made me feel unfulfilled as a reader was when Joanie visited her cousin in prison. I wanted more from their interaction! The abuse was such a big part of the beginning of the story I wanted more! I respectfully gave it 3 ⭐️s.

Our book club read Memphis. It was a good read but because of the author’s stank attitude toward the club we couldn’t give it 5 stars. As a book club here in Memphis, we try to support all of local authors.

I felt the same way about Long Shot, until…….I read another book & realized basically the whole “abusive” part of that book was ripped off from another book wrote years earlier. My mouth literally fell open while reading The Last Mrs. Parrish. I had to do research…..The Last Mrs. Parrish was published first! For that Kennedy lost a lot of cool points with me.
