We can all agree that the first Iron Man was without a doubt the best, in fact, I say it's one of the best superhero movies of all time. But the two sequels didn't suck.
Yea, I agree. It's because the first iron man had that heavy metal, sleek, metallic, hot rod garage feel to it. It felt more tangible and believable. the 2nd iron man had that fast, high octane, nitro feel to it. Avengers had iron man revert back to the hot rod feel a little bit. And then Iron man 3 had that dark, plastic world kind of feel to it. It was all holograms, explosions, and suits (and the suits were extremely physically weaker than the those shown it the other movies).
The first one was the best.
James Bond not to mention how in the first movie it took tony some time to put on the suit but in the 3rd one he was able to change from suit to suit instantly.

Man this movie looked amazing 😔 hopefully we get a phase three or four iron man movie. Civil war did a better job with Tony than the past few movies.

It was awesome! There were so many plot twists; a lot of the scenes in this trailer are presented in a completely different context than you would imagine. It keeps you guessing the entire time all the way to the credits, but definitely plenty of action and humor to keep you waiting till the next installment. I definitely recommend seeing it if you get the chance!

As for the rest of it....well you seem to have had your expectations a bit high. It happened to me as well when i saw Guardians of the galaxy recently, that move was hyped by everyone and i though it was utter shit.
I think it just delivered more of what the first 2 movies did, and that was enough for me. Also i can stomach any jokes as long as they come from Robert D J, i love that guy.

i really can't understand why everyone says iron man 3 is a 'letdown' and all those stuff. the movie was great, maybe not as good as the first one but it has something different and you really don't get bored-not for a moment. and as of the differences from the original iron man comic books, people should start thinking that you can't just take a whole comic book universe and create a movie, they are two different things!
Of course you cant recreate a comic book perfectly, but when you create such a great villain with Ben Kingsley's Mandarin and replace it with Guy Pierce, it's a bit of a let-down.

1. The movie was subpar in general. Just slightly better than IM2.
2. It was a waste of the character Mandarin as well as a waste of Kingsley. Marvel/Disney even acknowledged how bad a fuck up this was as they added a new one-shot after release to retcon the Mandarin shit.

I don't know why, but I remember being so hyped up by this trailer, and I also watched the lego version a lot? idk, but I loved this movie and after rewatching multiple times, now older, I realize my love for it was not a byproduct of the attention of a child, I still love it, mandarin or not.
This is the trailer that brought me into the MCU...
The trailer is better than the entire movie. I wish the movie was everything the trailer shown. It would have been easily one of the best superhero movies if they had just delivered on what the trailer was showing.
Uh, I'm not sure if you've been paying attention, but not only is this one of Marvel's more honest trailers about what you get in the movie, it's closer to what we got then the trailers for the first 2 Iron Man movies, and it might not be perfect, but it's one of the best comic book movies of the past 20 years.
The Iron Man 3 trailers marketed the Mandarin as the main villain. The movie stumped on that. Also the trailer didn't mention anything about Tony Stark's suits being a lot easier to destroy than in the past Iron man movies or Avengers.

What, you wanted it to be like Star Trek Into Darkness where you went into the movie asking yourself when they where going to reveal it's Kahn because it was the worst kept secret of the year?
If anything, the fact that so many people didn't see the twist coming should be commended.
This movie was primarily an Iron Man movie at its core, and anyone who reads the comics will tell you that it might not match it for the plot, but it had all the heart and soul of Iron Man (which is more then we can say for most comic book movies of 2013), and no amount of complaining from people who where never Mandarin fans in the first place will change the fact that it's a good movie.
Most of hate surrounding Iron Man 3 is mainly about the Mandarin twist. The Mandarin is Tony Stark's arch enemy like the Joker is to Batman. Comic book fans are pissed because of the twist. I don't hate Iron Man 3 I actually really enjoyed it but I was still let down by the movie. I kind of understand why you love the movie and respect that. I loved Man of Steel and it is getting a lot of hate that it doesn't deserve either.
Vincent Nguyen If the Mandarin is such an important enemy of Tony's, why has he not been an important villain in decades, with no real story arcs involving him at its core in that time? It also doesn't help that his creator has stated regret for making him at all.
He may have been the Joker to Tony's Batman, but that is a time long gone by, and with no equivalent in the Ultimates universe (which is where the MCU gets its source material from, not 616) this is exactly what we should have expected, a reinterpretation of the character for the modern age with the racism removed. What people wanted and what was possible where incompatible, and given how bad it could have been, it turned out very well.
This was honestly my favourite Marvel movie. There was loads of character development, the villains (Killians) plot was the most evil thing done in the MCU and it's just an overall great movie. Seriously, love this.

This movie was so good. I have no idea why everyone is so butthurt over it. Because it doesn't have Michael Bay explosions every 5 seconds? Come on.
False advertising, movie doesn't take itself seriously, physics are all wrong, pacing is off, etc.
There is a way to pull off funny such as Guardians of the Galaxy, but this movie did every single thing wrong. Also Michael Bay explosions ruin everything.
Everyone is butthurt over it because it was not good. Nothing in the film makes any logical sense, the villains are completely bland and unoriginal, the storyline is boring, don't get me even started on the twist, and as a whole, the film pretty much has no idea what it is.
Most importantly however, this is a superhero film. Superhero films should be dead by now, if they are not executed properly (no pun intended). This film was nothing more than a cash-machine.
Examples of properly executed superhero films would IMO be the TDK trilogy and Burton's Batman, Watchmen, GoTG, and I haven't seen any of the most recent X-Men films so I can't really speak for those, but by the look of them I'd say they could make the list.

Because the trailer was awesome and the movie sucked. The idea of taking one of Tony Stark's biggest enemies and turning him into a prop? Also, the removal of the chest piece really pissed me off, why? Because in Avengers, Tony Stark made an emotional appeal to Bruce Banner about how the chest piece was a part of him, something that saved him and allowed him to have a second chance. Taking it out defeats that whole conversation which is something key to the bonding of Bruce and Tony. Also the music was blah, the kid was annoying, and yeah. . .just bad. First marvel film of this storyline that I don't want to watch or own.

I'm still a little disappointed because these trailers made The Mandarin possibly look like the best comic book movie villain since HL's Joker. Seriously, it's Iron Man vs OSCAR WINNER SIR BEN FUCKING KINGSLEY! But thinking about it, it's cool how instead of The Mandarin being another person for Tony to fight, it's an idea that fools the general public into chasing someone who doesn't even exist. Besides, I haven't read a single Iron Man comic book in my life, so I'm not really attached to The Mandarin from the comics.

I love these marvel movies but what I don't understand is why the other Avengers don't help out. I mean, there's an extremely dangerous terrorist in the loose, and even worse he attacks the Avengers best team member! (I'm not here to argue who the best Avenger is, I'm just saying). I love this movie. Outstanding development for Tony, twist that literally nobody saw coming (rare for superhero movies, should be applauded), and it gave us awesome action scenes that show just how genius and badass Tony is without access to his money and suits. Mandarin isn't even a good villain in the comics, y'all need to get over it. Plus they gave us the prototype for Tony's bleeding edge armor. This movie is so fucking good.

I had no problem with them going with the character development route, in fact that's what made the second act of the movie the best part for me and I prefer a character driven superhero movie. However, I thought this film really let me down especially once it hit the third act because I felt a lot of things didn't make sense like Killian's plan and the Mandarin twist. I think what you find with this movie is that people's main complaint was the third act when things started to fall apart. The film was by no means bad and it was enjoyable but I felt letdown after I saw it.

Expectation based on trailer: Amazing story, better than Avengers, best marvel villain yet, nothing cheesy, awesome new iron man suit!!!
Reality: Ok story, Iron Man 1 is still the best Iron Man movie, villain is a big joke replaced by a glow-stick, mostly cheesy (there's a kid) , Hammer-tech quality suit.

The only thing I didn't like about the movie was that the so called terrorist mandarin on TV wasn't the actually mandarin...I was really hoping that he was the mandarin but other than that I liked the movie a lot. Rumors said that Tony will appear in 3 more movies...Avengers Age of Ultron, Iron Man 4, and for the last Avengers 3 (If that's the last Avengers).

Looking back on this trailer... damn is it depressing the potential that Ben Kingsley's Mandarin could have had. Instead they decided to take a shit on the character and give us generic ass fire-breathing Guy Pierce. This movie is Marvel's biggest let down in my opinion.

I honestly don't see what people are complaining about. This movie is getting more flak then any other MCU movie for being 'boring' even though Iron Man 2 is still very safe in holding that title, and Thor 1 is the close second. And apart from that and the racist caricature not being portrayed as racist caricature, I haven't seem any other complains beyond "it sucks".
Nobody hates it for being boring, they hate it because Iron Man's archenemy turned out to be a drug addicted method actor with a bad case of the shits, and Tony spent the vast majority of the movie flying around in the ford pinto of iron man suits. To top it all off, his girlfriend is the one who actually kills the villain because the villain saw nothing stupid about giving her super powers then pissing her off.

Really it completely destroyed what Iron Man's biggest and baddest archenemy could have been in favor of weak political commentary and a cheap laugh. They could have just fixed up his character to fit in the modern age and keep everything else the same. Besides that I noticed the movie itself was filled with plot holes and stupidity.
70swords If he's Iron Man's biggest arch-enemy, why is it that before the movie came out, he hadn't been an important character in either the Iron Man or Avengers comics for decades? The reason is shame. His own creator isn't secret about the fact that he is ashamed of having created the Mandarin. On top of that, this is an Iron Man movie we're talking about, you know, the movies which butchered the characters (Tony was never a playboy, that was a cover used in his secret identity while he was actually deadly serious about everything and never cracked a joke or sarcastic remark. Hell, it wasn't until 2006 that he revealed to the world he was Iron Man. Then there's Pepper, who hated Tony for a long time and was always just his assistant who disaproved of what he did and fell in love with, married, and had children with Happy. Speaking of Happy, he was a serious, no-nonsense security guard who was basically Nick Fury without the genetic modification. And then there's every single Iron Man villain in the first two movies. You know, it's actually funny when you think about it: before Iron Man 1 came out, no one gave a shit about the character and his comic line was almost cancelled 5 times before it came out, then after it did it was suddenly an A tier selling one. Now that Iron Man 3 came out, they've actually brought back the Mandarin in the comics for the first time in 30 years. Funny how the reaction to change is different when it's a racist caricature though.
As for the plot holes, it's a Marvel movie, name 1 which doesn't have plot holes you could drive a bus threw.
He's only in the armor for 15 minutes, instead of the mandarin we get a cliché nock off of the human torch who only wants to kill tony stark because he skipped a meeting with him once pathetic

I get why people were so disappointed, but I don't hate the movie itself. I would have probably liked it better if it was this, but as someone that didn't watch any of the trailers (I was kind of late with the MCU), the movie isn't bad.

I got past the mandarin plot twist. I still hated the movie. That stupid little kid that Tony met pissed me off, he was so annoying and irrelevant to the movie. Killian's lame ass "extremis" powers, breathing fire?! Really? They absolutely RUINED war machine in this movie, and the final battle was so stupid. It's like a small child wrote it. All it was, was 30 minutes of Tony jumping from suit to suit to suit to suit. Like okay it was cool the first time or 2 he did it, than it got boring. And pepper should have died. Literally her living was so corny and just lame and childish. And than to top it all off...TONY STARK REMOVES HIS ARC REACTOR?!?!? WHAT?! That literally is the biggest thing about Iron Man!!! How the hell do you do that?! That's like taking away Spider-mans web shooters or taking thors hammer away, or taking away captain America's shield!! This movie was awful at best. By far the worst of the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far. Such a big disappointment.
Pepper was too powerful by that point to die from such a weak fall. I new that fall wasn't going to kill her. also why does she have to die? I like her better with powers.

what if aldrich killian met the real mandarin with the real rings with powers and the real mandarin told him to take his identity and hide hime from the world..... so killian does that makes a fake mandarin and use the heat signatures to help him out from hiding the real mandarin... and when killian tells tony that he is the mandarin he could have been lying to him to hide the real mandarin with the real rings setting up for a fourth movie>.........

These trailers are actually so clever because there is so much that you see in the trailer that is totally out of context with how you saw it in the movie. The bits where Iron Patriot flies and salutes to the president. Just wait for the mindrape when you actually see the movie. These trailers are like we were all part of the movie, we were just as fooled as the characters! Fantastic film and brilliant publicity and no, I am not linking you to a fake website to see the 'full film'.

Even though I did hate the whole "Mandarin Plot Twist," I still love this movie. The feeling of "OH NOOOOOO" is still present when they show Tony's house being destroyed, even though the movie has already been released.
The only reason people dislike this and 2 was because they weren't as good as the first one. They weren't bad movie (unless that's just not your thing) they just weren't as good as the first.
People despise this movie because it is unpredictable? Almost all the "plot holes" are easily explained, and the actions, acting, writing, and story are all amazing.
---WARNING SPOILERS---
1) The simple soldiers were modified by project extremis which enhanced their abilities by more than tenfold.
2) These soldiers were basically stronger than Captain America and have advanced healing capabilities.
3) So they are able to heal after an explosion since the incendiary can only have an effect towards burns which project extremis has countered for.
4) The lady as you so called her, was also effected by project extremis and has given her powerful abilities.
I love this movie.

It would be cool if Kingsley was actually the real Mandarin and he was actually using Killian, because he was interested in using Killian's experiment as a small part of his grand scheme. The part where he was talking with Tony Stark is only half true and was acting to get Tony's guard down. The best way to finish off an enemy is having them not knowing you're the enemy.
Iron Man 3 is much better than Iron Man 2 and I think that has alot to do with what Joss Whedon did with the character is The Avengers. This Tony Stark has emotion, pain, uncertainty, and courage. He is less robot than in previous movies. Robert Downey Jr owns this role and to see the character grow like that made Iron Man 3 more enjoyable to watch.

The trailer should never be better than the actual movie. Sad to say that this movie kinda let me down, but if it was anything like this trailer, it could've possibly been my favorite Marvel movie.
The reason I didn't mind the twist is because for the first half of the movie, we got the Mandarin and he was awesome! I liked this conclusion to the character more than the usual 'villain blows up' sort of thing and it's believable that this could possibly happen in the comics, in the future but with a few tweaks. Not to mention, the Deleted scene proves that Trevor was just a decoy.
I never thought this movie was great as people make it seem until i watched it again, and when i did my mind instantly changed. Simply one of my favorites along with Fast Six and BTW best movie of 2013 thus far
