    This scene always bugged me. I know it's world-building, but at the same time I'm just sitting there screaming at the TV "JUST GO UP! GO UP! JUST GO UP!"

      I'm pretty sure they even demonstrate the ship can maneuver like that when they have to dodge other ships in the scene with all the bug plasma.

      Even better, you can built this galactic cruiser, but auto pilot & auto docking was feature they didn't want to splurge on.

    I remember watching Riddick with my dad yeeeaaarrrrssss ago and the scene when they crash the ship and slide like 2000 yards and he was like “there’s your mom pulling in the fuckin driveway”

      @@mrkenmt in the case of the fuel cutoff the hoses, they do a poor job of showing zero gravity in the movie as she was stretching the lines they could have shot back into the station potentially damaging them or the station
      On her bscking out listen to the distances given. 5 and 3 meters or 15 and 9 feet. Had any of the thrusters malfunctioned it could put the ship right through the station itself

      In the movie there are several times that she screwed up including not evading the asteroid fast enough that cost the lives of several crew members and turning the ship into a blast

    what I missed about this movie was the space gorilla suits, which were described so well in the book. Combat suits, with which you could make big jumps, and carried a rack of nuclear missiles on your shoulders

      I can recommend the book, the transformation of a boy into a soldier, very militaristic, if you like something like that.

    As a driver, I’ve learned to try and never push the margin. This scene has always bothered me. One mistake and lives are lost.

    Pilot status would have already been revoked in simulator training. IPs(instructor pilots) love giving you all types of failures. A simple tether(no idea what those hoses are for) failed to release and you damage your craft (and a space station) because you want to wait till lat second is probably gonna cost her a set back or two.

    The book was fyking great... the movie was an absolute disaster that deviated from the book starting at page 2...Great special effects, horrific acting

      It was released in 1997, so not quite yet. PS2 was released in 2000.

    I always hate this scene,
    Anyone that has Driven a boat Knows, the front nose hits that space station.
    The movie cuts, to them, and then back, because, there is no way you didn't just grind some paint off both. 😮

      I always feel this way, too. When they show you the angle from the front of the ship as she starts to turn, there's no way she wasn't going to hit lol. But then they show the angle from the back, and magically, the ship has been pulled back far enough for it to be a near miss.

      Well, with this one the director intentionally didn't follow the book. He started to read it and never finished it because he said it was boring. Or so I have read.
