my guess is they do flashbacks because some of the flashbacks are from like 200 episodes ago, so thats like 200 weeks, so people might forget what happened 3 or 4 years ago.

they put flashbacks in anime to fill time, so that the artist dont have to draw all new frames for the episode. they recycle the old frames to save drawing time. it helps them keep on schedule so they can have an episode out every week. thats why most anime usually end up taking a week off right before a big fight. its so they have time to draw everything to their best ability, and make it better for us
Well, to play devil's advocate for anime, it wasn't until recently that you could sit and watch them all in a shorter amount of time. A lot of the flashbacks here were used in the anime because it was years between the story points, so it helped refresh. Typically anime used to be short sagas, anime like Naruto kind of broke that mold, instead of only being a season or two, it lasted a life time for a lot of us. Modern anime has no excuses though, but for the older Anime when everything was still cable or broadcast, it made sense to refresh things.
The four tails and his jinchuriki roshi is a reference from DRAGON BALL because the creator of naruto is super friend of the creator of dragon ball so thats a reference there.
Please remember this. In, like, 100 episodes the fact that Naruto received chakra from every tailed beast except the one and eight tails will become mildly relevant but it's the one time they don't do a flashback and so many reactors don't remember this plot point and get super confused.

It's not exactly a tailed beast transformation, more like a chakra construct of Kurama's body, but it's close enough. Plus we should try to remember and call the tailed beasts by their names from now on.
You cant say the flashbacks are lazy... the point of it is to tug at the heart strings of all those who loved those scenes and its an attemp to build back up all the feels the fans had to make it more exciting and suspenseful cause its not like they can change the animation and only hint at those epic moments.. it wouldnt be they same!!! But yes reusing scenes repetitively can be lazy if it wasnt adding to or moving the storyline forward... but in this case its used perfectly to make us feel the way it did and not just as you said "lazy" animation to fill an episodes time requirement lol. Do more Boruto!¡! Lol. ❤❤❤❤

The "Old Man" wasn't their master. He was their father. When Kurama said that Naruto is the old man, he might that he is just like their father.

This is probably my favorite individual episode of the entire series. A lot of themes and arcs culminate in this one, and the imagery is gorgeous.
The first time I saw this episode I considered it the number one most heartwarming episode ever created😀.
There are still a lot of great episodes left, but in my opinion this is one of the best in the series. It's got a GREAT power up, kurama and naruto finally working together, kakashi remembering minato through naruto and the emotional impact of all tailed beasts finally being treated with respect and them believing naruto is the reincarnation of the sage.
And to think that Naruto was able to keep up with all these tailed beasts with only HALF of Kurama’s chakra.
