It's great to see and hear him in his element. He's a great musician, but he also has wonderful people skills. He immediately puts you at ease, and it's like you've known him forever. Very personable, and as David Williams said, he's extremely likeable. Well done.

This is probably the best piano demo I’ve ever seen. I am going to buy my Yamaha u1 in the next few months. I don’t know if I’ll be able to afford the trans acoustic one but I’m gonna try.

Terrific demo! Well done!1 :) "Silent Series"...didnt even know they had this series....only knew of their full acoustic pianos and their "hybrids" --which I guess are "more digital" than the Silent. Silents are "more acoustic based....with a digital interface attached"....

Great intro to this instrument. Question about tuning, does the piano provide a way for the piano tech to match the pitch of the physical strings to the digital pitch?

Yes it will.
I would love to have an acoustic or even a 'silent' model but alas, I live in a flat on the 4th floor and simply cannot contemplate the costs of manhandling almost 300kg up and down the stairs. That's why my next buy will be a midrange digital. Next time I'm back home in Bolton though, I will defo pay the guys at Rimmers a visit.

Can you change the touch of the piano? I have a very light touch and would prefer a piano that responded to this.
Hello.The piano has an acoustic action so this is fixed as you would expect. If you use the digital sounds however you can adjust the amount of pressure needed for full volume so this may help. The action is very responsive anyway, its a personal preference I think with that point. Kindest regards Graham

I was expecting you to explain the difference between the transacoustic and the silent piano
Silent piano just works full sound or silent (with headphones), you can't control the volume without headphones like you can with a transacoustic. A transacoustic also has a bunch of features normally found on digital pianos that make it very versatile.
Boris Chang Basically they charge you 1000 dollars for some speakers you can buy by 300$. The only thing is that those speakers use the harmonic table so theoretically it sounds better but most of digital piano don’t have this characteristic and they sound great, so for me it’s just a waste of money, money you could invest in a better piano and 200-300$ speakers that sound pretty much the same

Yes

in digital mode, are the hammers still engaged so that the action is the same?
Yes they are, a bar prevents the hammers from hitting the strings. You can also have both sounds at the same time ie acoustic and digital. The feel remains the same. Kindest regards Graham

A few more questions please. Could you say approximately how similar is the action and acoustic sound of the upright silent piano compared with a Yamaha U1? Would you say that the "action" - that is, the touch and feel,, the touch-to-response ration of the silent piano is practically identical to the U!? Or if not, in what ways is it different? Lighter action? Shorter stringing? Build quality - i.e. as is the silent instrument as strongly-built in the frame and action as the U1? Other? Thank you so much in advance - :-)

Love this demo and love this piano for it's sound, but I really hate how it looks unfortunately. I guess this one is the YUS3 TA2, the one I want to get is the YUS5 TA2, which is even uglier! 😥
it is an U1 TA2. You can see the type imprinted on the sound bar e.g. at 6:50 . And it is a beautyful piano.
