  • How instrumental is the role of family in the lives of the hard-of-hearing? And how have their futures been influenced or determined by the decisions of their parents?
We enter the often misunderstood world of the deaf community through the eyes of 4 individuals - a 4-year-old boy embarking on ear surgery, a teenage athlete, a young dancer and an accomplished pianist take us through the paces of their lives.
This Is What I Hear is a quiet study of their everyday lives and struggles, as well as their triumphs and observations. The episodes are accompanied by a special soundscape to draw us closer into their world, and to appreciate what it is that they really hear.

She probably did not have mother tongue lesson and her family probably spoke to her in english instead of chinese.
