Thanks, Markus for making such a good content in every video you make including the quality! It sticks out! I always like your enthusiast and energy. I just gave you a series of thumbs-up for the last seven videos.😅 Greetings from Sweden !🎉
Markus I love you. I have the gvm 200w (rebranded geekoto) and I just tried it with my nano godox trigger and it worked! I haven't been using that flash because I hated the trigger it came with. You're a lifesaver.
Love the quantum connector - but also like the Godox mount on the AD300. So I combined the two, so now I can mount Godox mount softboxes like the AD-S65 and 85 on my AD200 and AD360 strobes
Markus, you are having to much fun. The good thing is that we learn about lights and photography for every budget. I love that you don't say, chase the latest and sometimes not so greatest. Thanks.
The AD200 round head H200R is actually dimmer than an AD100! I tested it in another video. Might as well use a smaller lighter AD100 in that case. And remember, the reason I like the Q200 is the colors are better than the AD200
I actually bought a Visico2/Neewer Vision 2. It's basically an AD200 that already comes with a removable magnetic round head (So Godox round head accessories work perfectly). And it's cheaper than even an AD100pro. It was so good, I went back and picked up another one. When you remove the round head, the bulb is exposed for optimal effectiveness with softboxes.
Your videos are the best training videos about travel+family photo. Markus, did you think about to share your experience about photo composition for travel portraits? You already have at least three, where you traveled to Europe and then to a mountain, then to a nice island. You showed position of flash stands and effect of reflectors and soft boxes. Those was great lessons for me and I repeat it with good success. However I am still bad in photo composition. I do read some literature and it helps. Would be great if you shared your experience with photo compositions too, becase your explanations are so easy to understand and also very practical. And most of all you have a lot of experience in outdoor portrait photography, which others don't have.
Hi Mark, the Yongnuo YN200 also has the same {Quantum} adapter as the Godox, but it does not have an interchangeable head. Years ago I was deciding between them but eventually went with Godox because of the compatibility with almost all the Godox line of strobes 🙂
The front of the Q200 looks to be the same size as some of the older budget studio strobes that can use what is called a "universal" mount. You can get barn doors and gel holders for it at a very low cost.
Great review. Markus. At first I wondered why you didn't mention the Yongnuo YN200 in your review until I checked its current price on Amazon, almost $500 bucks is outrageous
@MarkusPix I still have one and managed to find a replacement battery about a year ago on Alibaba. Still, I like it because it is a bare bulb only with that same mount as the AD200.
YOU LIGHT 🕯️ UP MY LIFE LYRICS 🎵🎶 So many nights I'd sit by my window Waiting for someone to sing me his song So many dreams I kept deep inside me Alone in the dark but now you've come along [Chorus] And you light up my life You give me hope to carry on You light up my days and fill my nights with song Rollin' at sea, adrift on the water Could it be finally I'm turnin' for home? Finally a chance to say "Hey, I love you" Never again to be all alone [Chorus] 'cause you, you light up my life You give me hope to carry on You light up my days and fill my nights with song It can't be wrong When it feels so right 'cause you? you light up my life
Perfect timing ! I'm looking for a strobe for sports. I plan to use it in HSS and I'm wondering if the AD200 could produce small bursts (3 pics at 6 FPS) and at what power. Any hint ?
The Godox AD200 can perform High-Speed Sync (HSS) and is capable of firing in burst modes. However, its ability to maintain consistent output over multiple frames at 6 frames per second (FPS) depends on several factors: Power Setting: Lower power settings allow for faster recycle times. At reduced power levels, the AD200 can keep up with higher FPS rates. Battery Charge: A fully charged battery ensures optimal performance and faster recycling. Ambient Temperature: Extreme temperatures can affect battery efficiency and recycle times. Assuming the sports are outdoors in bright sunlight, you'd need full power, where the recycle time is approximately 1.8 seconds, making it unsuitable for high-speed continuous shooting. You'd need a more powerful flash like a 600
I would love to know how the AD200 Roundhead (maybe the AD100 also), compares to the Q200's color quality specifically. Both have diffused glass. Thanks to your previous video we know the AD100 is brighter because of the zoom functionality.
Hello, Markus! Please hear me out: I think you can push the AD200 even harder into this new SMDV adapter! The rubber might tear a bit, but you'll get better light! As for the Neewer Q200, I think you can replace it with the H200R head for the AD200. It has the same frosted, non-Fresnel design with nice illumination, plus the H200R includes notches for attaching the AK-R21 projector or silicone diffusers.
The AD200 round head H200R is actually dimmer than an AD100! I tested it in another video. Might as well use a smaller lighter AD100 in that case. And remember, the reason I like the Q200 is the colors are better than the AD200
@@MarkusPix I generally agree-I mostly use the AD100 when I need a round head, probably about 95% of the time. On the other hand, the H200R is still very useful for gobo projection (like the AK-R21), snoots, and other hard-light, artistic effects. Its heavy frost diffuser and large reflector/lamp provide very even illumination(compared to AD100 which fails to fully illuminate it's head), and the center-axis LED is fantastic for pre-visualizing projections compared to the AD100, which has a weaker, off-centered LED. This flexibility is a major advantage of the AD200: you can switch from a barebulb head to an 'artistic' head in about 10 seconds. Also, the H200R actually produces a bit more light-about 0.3 stops more, even with the frost, I'd estimate-but the AD100 tends to perform better in unmodified tests due to its stronger hotspot and Fresnel focusing ability. In modifiers, they’re likely comparable, but as I mentioned, most of the time, the H200R just isn’t worth the extra weight.
If you aim the AHD200 at someone and take a meterreading, it's considerably less light than if you aim an AD100 at someone and take a meter reading. I showed this in another video.
Lol sounds like you really want to not like the AD100, did someone throw one at you in a bar fight or something? 😆 Sorry but a TT685ii couldn't even be half a bright. Remember the AD100 has zoom also 😜
This video is so awesome. 🤌🏽 the AD200 just seems to tick off so many checkboxes in one product. It was and continues to be what other manufacturers wish they’d designed. I need to buy a few.
Markuspix: making Sundays better. Markus’ videos might not be FDA-approved, but only because they have not run clinical trials - I’m pretty sure he is an effective anti-depressant.
Woot woot! AD200’s have gone down to $199.99 on sale on Amazon btw. I know yall don’t need the AD200 Pro and Pro II but I personally upgraded to the Pro II bcuz I don’t have a bunch of flashes already. Still growing my flash/strobe collection. Loving the Pro II bcuz of the modeling lamp upgrades. Sucks I can’t use the modeling lamp with the bulb reflector dish with the Pro II still does the job regardless!
Love your videos. I just did a test at home based on what I see in your videos. I tested the Godox v1 pro, ad300, and ad600 all on their highest outputs. My results were that the v1 and ad300 had the same output, and the ad600 was not much better (less than 1 stop). Hoping that you could help clarify why this is happening, because honestly it seems like the ad600 (or the ad300) is not worth having and that maybe I should try Neewer or something else. Have you experienced similar results?
The 300 is dim but the 600 is definitely powerful. Make sure HSS is off and you are using a good reflector (not just a bare bulb) ruclips.net/video/o8bdbLW2gAs/видео.html
It will fit but it's actually a bit smaller so it's kinda loose in there so you'd have to wrap some rubber tape around the head or something for a snug fit.
@@MarkusPix Thanks for your reply! Debating if I want to invest in this light, would like to use the modifiers I have on hand. Thanks for all your videos, instructional and reviews, great info, great teacher. Pete

I have the Q3 to double as a portable flash and a fill light. I cannot compare it to any of these others but I have been disappointed with how quickly it overheats. Even with no modifiers on it and set to a low output like 1/16 or 1/32, if you are shooting somewhat quickly in a studio setting it overheats and at that point it is pretty much done. It takes like 30 to 60 minutes to cool down, otherwise you have to wait like 20 seconds between shots.
Great question! It will fit, but the diameter is actually a bit SMALLER than an AD100, so you'd have to wrap some rubber tape around the head to make it a bit wider and fit snugly.
Thanks for another helpful video, Markus (and Cara - we know you're behind the camera, though we prefer you in front of it - woo-hoo!). Seriously - Cara could be on the cover of FIT magazine. Bummer, even a brief summary would have been nice, as many products mentioned on the channel are not available as new anyway, moreover, YN200 has the perk of a permanent bulb instead of fresnel.
The S-bracket is great if you have studio or you have place to keep it in-house easily available for your C-stands and such anyways. Good for remote on-site photography as well, where you spend half- or full day in shoot like example business or school photography is about. But for travel purposes? No go. That is just not purpose for all Godox fanboys who think S-brackets are great overall. It is just like C-stands vs light stands vs everything else, different purposes.
Be careful with the neewer Q3 - loves to overheat fast. I made over 8 videos about it and some modifiers 10:59 Q3 doesn't need an S- bracket. yes, just like Godox triggers. Receivers are built into the flashes

Works similar Neewer Q3 like a Godox AD200?
Yes but it overheats quickly
❤
Is there a big difference between the AD200 and the Pro? Probably a dumb question but I found a Pro on Marketplace for $200
not much. the readout's a little brighter (not much) and I think it has more flash levels (it already had enough for me)
It has supposedly also more stable white balance - less variation between consecutive shots. Hard to be noticed outside high level product work.
Can Neewer Q200 be triggered with Godox X2T ?
No, it requires a Neewer trigger. The Gekkoto Q200 can be triggered with a Godox Xpro trigger.
