- This video shows how families with children under 21 can apply for the EU Settlement Scheme together. Nath Gbikpi of Wesley Gryk Solicitors explains that people from European Union countries need to apply online to stay in the UK after Brexit - and that includes children, who don't automatically get settled status even if their parents already have it.

Unfortunately we can't answer all them, but to those asking what to do if their child doesn't have a passport or ID card, Nath has just written a bit about this in a recent article: www.freemovement.org.uk/six-very-frequently-asked-questions-about-the-eu-settlement-scheme/#ID_documents_and_children. The key point: if your child doesn't have their own ID document and there isn't time to get one by the 30 June 2021 deadline, contact the EU Settlement Resolution Centre and ask for a paper application form. Then apply on the paper form using the child's birth certificate. *Don't wait for ID if it will take you beyond the 30 June deadline*.

@@carmencruzy If you can't get through to the Settlement Resolution Centre by phone, you could try emailing EUSSGrants@homeoffice.gov.uk and ask them to email you a copy of the application form. Hi I tried calling a lot nd even send them online query 2 times in last 10 days to resolution cehtre that my 5 years son papport has expired nd I need paper application form but they are not either attending call nor rreplyng my Emil.what should I do now. Plz help

If you’re applying for your child and they live with you, you don’t need to chose one of the options below "How do you want to apply?". Just click continue and upload the documents. If you are given settled status they will automatically be given same status too.
How do you do this ? I have no option other than prove your identity or sign in.

You have to apply for them separately and link them to you by adding your reference number hun.....their page says that as far as I know.

Well.. embassies , like mine it's closed and you can't push them to get an appointment for passport renewal

I have exactly the same problem. I have settled status but the form does not allow to add my child as he does not have a passport. I tried to call resolution centre but the line is always busy and I cannot get through. My son has been born here and should also get settled status but I am unable to add him.
I agree with others, it was not fully clear on GOV website. I started an application what took me to absolutely different settlement thing.

I'm in the same situation, my baby is not even 1 year old and with the pandemic I can't apply for a passport for her yet so we don't know where we stand 🙄

My spouse and children applied for an EU Family Permit from India, and finally their passports were returned with an entry clearance sticker for the EU Settlement Scheme Family Permit. However, the decision letter is still pending. What are the next steps they should take after entering the UK, and what documents will they need to apply first as soon as they arrive?

Obviously no Id card yet cause he is not 14, only 17 months, but hard this times all embassies closed unable to provide him a passport
@@dragosbarbacaru8148 Did an ID card in Europe, they allow to send the birth certificate by post if you have no ID meanwhile but this will take out some more times if you cannot do an ID. My kid is 6 months and the ID was made in the same day. Then i did a full application for her with ID scanned throught the app. Much quicker and easier, even if it is a child, selfie is needed.
@@oldschoolchannel7402 yeah I know , some countries release ID after birth, but in my country you have to be 14 years old for ID, plus he was born here and never left the country, not registered with romanian authorities, only english and applied for citizenship for him 9 months ago, still pending

Great video but what about newborns? My child was born two weeks ago and he doesn't have any nationality or any form of id yet. I don't even have his birth certificate as of yet because that requires an appointment which I am waiting for... It seems I can't link him to my previous application or can I? I have been through the options and I can't find it... Could you please help me with it?
I have the same problem and cannot find it either. seems like British government assumes our children are somehow born with a passport in their hand...
Yeah, it's so weird. I don't understand the logistics of it. I am so glad my baby boy was born 4 months before the deadline so we still have some time to deal with it.
What we have done so far was that we called the resolution center and told them about our situation. Then the settlement scheme sent us a paper application form which we filled in and sent them back. All we could attach to it was the birth certificate. It's been with them for over a week now. I called them yesterday to check whether it's been accepted and put into the system but not yet. Was told that they get around 4 thousand applications every day so it may take some time to put it into the system. I really hope it's not going to get lost or forgotten before the deadline.

For our child or kids I preffer it : Register child under 18 as British citizen (form MN1)

Hi,We have applied for EU Settlement scheme for 19 years old daughter but application form they have sent to us linked if a parent already have settled status what about parent with British citizen they are not included in the form.So in the application form asking are you applying for the same status as your parent we said No are your parent have a status again No it’s very confusing it’s no other option with British parents so my kid now not allowed to apply for EU settlement that a bit unfair

Informative video! thank you. Hovever, I have a question regarding double nationality. In case the children has 2 (EU) citizenships, do I need to send also the passport details of the second nationality? Can I apply using only one nationality even if later in time the child will get a second one?

what about newborns, born days before 30/06 ? there's no chance to get even the certificate of birth with current rules and appointment system. For sure no chance to get a passport in time . is what's accepted as proof of evidence for them and how it can be used on the online application ?
Has anyone tried to apply for grandkids living outside the uk after 1 jan 2021? I dont know if it is possible to link my grandkids applications to my settled status as they are not dependent on me but their parents. My son is over 21 and hes not dependent so I thought I could at least get pss for my grandkids and then he and his wife could apply through the kids. They will have to do it outside the uk tho as if they cant all get it, theres no point moving here before they all receive it

@@solomenyakato8425 the time expired already, however EU citizens had used the EUSS form for the application.
Hi, you have to go through it as a new application, just like how you completed yours. You need to do the ID check with the app on your child's passport, create an account etc. There will be a question during the application process where you can link their application to their parent's application by adding your EU settlement application number (start with "UAN:"). This number was sent to your email address by the Home Office.
Then you will need to provide evidence about your relationship, at this point you can upload your child's birth certificate. The problem is that this application should have been completed within 3months of your child's birth so it will take longer and probably they'll ask more questions.
Do I need to apply for a settlement scheme for a child that is 5 years old? He has a British passport but I have a Polish one so I know I need to apply but does he?
Hi Weronika, there is no need to apply if the child is British. This is only about children who don't have British citizenship.

So just to clarify, I can apply from outside of the UK for my children (they are under 5), even if they hadn't been in the UK before 31/12/20, as my husband (their father) has pre-settled status, right ?

Yes, he still with us, he went last year, and came back after he had his pre-settled approved. We are waiting on the EUSS family permit visa decision. But as I read the government's website, i have the understanding that my children can apply here and only I need the EUSS family permit to go to the UK.
My husband is an Italian citizen, but my children despite have that right to be italians too, they don't have the documents yet, only Brazilians documents.

Hi Pat, if your child has EU, EEA or Swiss citizenship, use "MAIN". If they have a different citizenship, use "FM".

nikvikviknik he used his bank statement, apart from his passport, you can use a letter from the Uni, or student loan, otherwise you can link your application with his.

What if the child doesn’t have a valid passport or ID card just because the other parents is just being “awkward”?
we called EU Resolution Centre and has been told that even if my child is born in UK(6 Months old) She needs to get some form of Identity Card/Passport( proof of identity as the EU Mobilr APPS required us to scan Childs Identity Document) before we start the application process linking her application from her father.

@@nesgyarias6041 you need a form of ID document, as birth certificate is not acceptable as a form of ID. apply for passport thats the only way you can scan the CHIP through mobile app.
