Welcome to the rabbit hole that is VoicePlay. Their music is on Spotify. These guys are amazing at everything they do. They do their own arranging, production, and all the labor to set up these amazing video shoots. The current line up is one short but they always have great collaborators working with them. Geoff is the bass with a 5 plus octave range Layne (lower left) is the vocal percussionist and also has a beautiful singing voice. He and Geoff do most of their arrangements. Top right is Eli (pronounced L E) who could front any rock group and has an amazing range as well. Top left is Cesar, the newest member of the group who adds an amazing voice and great fun and energy to the group. That leaves the guest top middle. Jose has done a couple of great songs with them, he's a high school friend of Cesar's who has Broadway credits and is a member of Rockapela. One of their best collaborators and practically a member of the group is Rachel Potter. You want to check out their music with her. Of their recent stuff, check out their Wicked Medley (with Rachel Potter), Greatest Showman medley (with Rachel Potter), Rich Man/Girl, My Mother Told Me, Carry On My Wayward Son....there's just so much and it's all top draw. Enjoy!

    • @Beehindblueyes

If I were a Rich Man/Girl was done with Ashley Diane not Rachel Potter in the guest spot.

@@Beehindblueyes I didn't say Rachel did Rich Man. I recommended listening to Rachel and then moved to a list of recent songs to check out. Since I had mentioned Rachel I put her name in parenthesis on the songs she had been part of. Happy Holidays!

I think this is possibly the most intense cover they've done. The way it builds in intensity is just incredible. VoicePlay and Geoff are just insanely talented and never do a bad cover. I almost said move, as some of their videos are almost mini musicals.

Congratulations! This song absolutely broke several other reactors. One just tossed his headphones and walked off. Another got up and walked offscreen, forgetting that he wasn’t wearing any pants! You absolutely can’t go wrong with anything VoicePlay does, but you’ll also want to check out Geoff Castellucci’s solo work, which is equally phenomenal.

I was blown away when this one came out & I love everything Voiceplay/Geoff do. They don't block by the way so don't worry about that. VP's Halo Theme is superb but honestly anything you find on their channel will be worth a look especially from Daddy Sang Bass on. They just get better & better. Geoff's recently brought out Shenandoah which is beautiful but again there genuinely aren't any duds.

    • @Toblies
      @Toblies 3 года назад +3

Shenandoah is great for Geoff. And for Voiceplay, the Wicked Medley (arranged by Geoff (over 2 years!!!) is also mind numbingly good.

The hair is absolutely fabulous! Always love all your reactions and Voiceplay is one of the best groups ever imo. There is hardly anything they do I do not love though this is one of the top 5 for sure. Geoff Does solo things which inspire me to use my own depth and bass and have been practicing often thinking of someday maybe doing a cover of his maybe. Maybe some of their Halloween themed videos are amazing, also My mother told me.

  • @Aurora-cv5to

Geoff arranged this one, did the video and most of the editing. Eli was primary on lights. There's a stunning section in The Greatest Showman Medley where ALL 5 singers are doing vocal percussion. Stunning! One of their recent covers is "If I Were A Rich Man/Girl" featuring Ashley Diane (prior to this I'd never heard of her, but she's amazing). I would also recommend their cover of "Just Sing". It's a HUGE collaboration with MANY other a capella artists. If/when you do that one, be sure to turn on the captions. They included information about who everyone is, as well as a few snarky remarks.

Voiceplay is my favorite group. Geoff and Layne are brilliant arrangers, and everyone in the group can sing anyone's pants off. Their stage presence is nothing but eye candy which I love love love!!!!! Their choices of sets for their videos and their lighting surpasses anyone in their field. I know their thing is arranging covers and making it their own, which they do so very well, but my wish is... I wish they would write their own songs, because I know that I know that I know their songs would be huge hits. Perhaps they have wrote songs and I am unaware of it. Anyway, anything Voiceplay does is gold. Listen to anything they do, but I love their Michael Jackson's song Man in the Mirror. Beautiful arrangement of that one and if MJ were alive today, he would be proud.

I keep going back to this one over and over again. It is definitely one of my favorites. At the end I love that Eli has that long sustained note and then Geoff comes in with that never ending “die”.
For fun you might want to check out Qofy’s reaction to this piece. He was so blown away he got up and walked away for a moment forgetting he was still in his boxers!
Jose is currently in Hamilton and also a member of Rockapella. He also appeared in the Norse Saga My Mother Told Me. Geoff has some sustained low notes ( maybe E1 ) that sounds like the Gjallershorn and Eli rocks out channeling his inner Berserker.
For a totally different vibe check out Boy Bands in 5 Minutes. It starts out with N Sync, segues into the Jackson 5, the Beatles, through the 90s Boy bands and finishes up with BTS. A lot of fun. Can’t Help Falling in Love With You and Bridge Over Troubled Water are both gorgeous.

Oh shoot, a fellow metalhead, the bass singer for this band has me learning so many different techniques since I heard him. When I was young (about 13) I started attempting beatboxing and metal vocals so I learned false screaming, fry, throat bass, inward bass, etc but his super clean low notes come from a technique called subharmonics that he absolutely perfected. I want to get there as well, I can sing from C0-G5 which is already close to their range but in no way am I as good as them, my inhale and subharmonics can get me stupidly low but I don't have the projection yet.

  • @Robert.Sheard

  • @lkayh

This was a great reaction, so yes, more Voiceplay, please!
There’s a ton to pick from. Halo Theme is awesome, also, along the same lines as this, there’s My Mother Told Me (a legit Viking song, if you’re unfamiliar, with TONS of Geoff’s low bass), Little Mermaid Medley, Oogie Boogie’s Song (from Nightmare Before Christmas-this one seems to have been the gateway drug for a lot of VP fans). And I’m glad you’ve found Geoff’s channel-if you haven’t heard 16 Tons, yet, that’s a great one. Also High and Dry.
Since you’re new to these guys, I’ll give you names. Our left to right, starting at the top: Cesar De La Rosa (just joined the group last summer and he’s killing it), Jose Rosario Jr. (he’s an occasional featured guest-I want them to keep him), and Eli (pronounced ELee) Jacobson (this guy’s gritty tenor blows people away but he’s also capable of just the sweetest sound ever, and he’s an amazing actor). Left to right, bottom row: Layne Stein (he’s their beat boxer and he and Geoff trade off doing most of their arrangements, plus he has a beautiful voice), and of course there’s Geoff (he of the silky, deep voice who can hit notes so low only rhinos can hear him) Castellucci.
    Have fun!

VoicePlay (Geoff's solos too) do not block reactors. They have no contracts with studios where the studio dictates what you can do. I have heard occasionally a reactor has had a problem with RUclips but not with VoicePlay. Warriors followed by Dream On (Geoff calls it Warriors 2) is a great combination although the group changed between the recordings. We're Good is another excellent song. It features both Adriana Arrelano and Cesar De La Rosa (his first tryout with VP but not his last - got him into full member status.) Geoff just did a new one "Till Then" a WW 2 vintage love song that is just beautiful.

Welcome to VoicePlay! Might I recommend another group as well - Home Free. They bill themselves as a Country A Capella group however, they do all genres. I was trying to think of the best song to start you off with them because I don't know what you like. Maybe start with the Sea Shanty Medley and then you'll get a ton of requests from there. The Butts Remix might be another fun start for you.
