Don't know how, maybe it's the fact that volumetric doesn't effect the 37mm APHE, allowing it to penetrate cupola vision ports, but I've been able to take out a lot of Churchill VIIs/Crocodiles with the Ostwind II.

Personally, I’m fine with the changes of German spaa, especially the Ostwind being at 3.3 now. I do agree, the Ostwind II ist pretty much fiction, yet only 1 prototype or the flak panzer 341 was built either. So yeah, German spaa would be somewhat empty. What still doesn’t sit right with me is that the American dual 40 mm with 70+ mm of pen is at 4.0, yet the dual German 37mm, 50> mm of pen at 5.7. the American one is basically an entire upgrade and fairly annoying to face. But great vid!
37's only get 49mm of pen

Tha cannon is just perfection. Mgranat is lighting quick, turns most planes into fireballs with a single hit and an AP round that front pens the t34's turret.
It's good enough to make me set asside my hatred for the pz4 platform and its derivatives.
I like ash river. It's one of the classics in my book. Along with Rhine, Frozen pass and Normandy
37 can easily wreck t34s frontally o7 but I just cant stand getting Ash River 7 times in a row

One of the best features of the Ostwind is that you can carry HE and AP and it will switch ammo without the magazine/belt reload delay! As others have noted, a single hit with HE will destroy most planes, although you are still best to wait until they are close to shoot. And like all AAA in the game, it suffers from the poorly designed camera views that make shooting at very high angles difficult (the tank's body blocks the useful external view) and placing yourself at the edges of buildings or trees has a similar effect if the camera has to go into them.

I honestly think the Ostwind already is a pretty good Spaa. Good rate of fire, good muzzle velocity and a nice armor piercing power (specially with the APHE)
I'm not really a fan of the Ostwind II but it a necesity due to the ammount of CAS spam at that BR, and Germany really needs something like that, since the americans get the M19 and M42 (also the M16 is a beast), the soviets have the milk trucks and the BTR ZD, and the brits get the armored Spaas even in a Crusader's hull.

I don't know how I missed that BR change. Of course, last couple days the missions I've been getting are either kill with mediums or kill with heavies...........you know, Panthers and Tigers. Haven't even looked at light tank destroyers. I meant, Anti air.

I prefer the Ostwind to the Wirbelwind, it's easier to aim (for me anyway), does more damage to planes on hits (especially important because unless you completely disintegrate the fuckers they WILL bomb you or your teammates), and the extra turret armor helps against planes coming at lower angles
I been able to get double aces in the Wirbelwind still
