I love the analogy used with the monkey and the peanut. It is true, most humans are like that with their money and I am the first one to confess and although I have known about tithing pretty much for almost 30 years, I've never tithed faithfully, but this year and this day is a new day and I will make an effort to tithe more this year. just because Joel does things different than his father did doesn't make him a false prophet. yes he rights books and yes he motivates people to belive in God's word to the point in living by every word. so many people are in bondage with thoughts or drugs or and alot of things he's trying to help them believe in God's word to recieve his promises. that doesn't make him a false prophet at all. God delivered me from smoking cigarettes from something he said one night, I used the same technique and spoke God's words and Jesus moved on my behalf and that mountain was moved!
Has your technique worked to move the mountain of sin or are you still To'rahless? Are you keeping the commandments of Yah'uah Elohim or the commands of the catholic church that the Osteens serve??? While smoking is of course a sin , it is not directly mentioned in the scriptures yet you seem to know it is wrong so can you see other things that are destroying you, those clearly mentioned as sin as wrong eg eating pork shrimp etc, breaking the sabbath, fornication, love of money. Jesus told his disciples that no one having given up anything for him would be rewarded double in this life and in heaven also. it's one of the places that out of Jesus own mouth he spoke of rewards for serving him. I'll take his promise over Pauls words of wisdom. also let's not forget the breaking of the curse. people it's the LOVE of money that's the problem, not having it. several places the bible refers to enjoying the fruits of your labor with joy and gladness and with celebration! oh and the "eye of a needle" was actually a low entrench way camels had to duck real low to get into.
Joel would have to divest himself of all kinds of riches for that to happen. But God can work with anyone who is humble and willing. Meanwhile I will pray for him because that's what God requires me do do.
God wants you to be rich but not let the riches get the better of you and become selfish. You honestly believe God wants you to be poor while you are on earth and you can only have when you reach in heaven.
Joel Osteen is a new age positive thinking preacher. His father the great John Osteen gave you THE WORD OF GOD. The Word is what teaches, heals and glorifies the church ! If I want to hear positive thinking sermons, I will listen to Tony Robbins or old Dale Carnegie tapes. I am sure that John would not approve of the lack of the Word of God in Joel's sermons. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you correct and profitable understanding of God's word so that you don't become victim to wolves who come to you in sheep's clothing (as Joel Osteen does). These types of teachers tend to mix just enough truth in with a lie in order to promote their message. But remember that truth plus a lie equals a lie.
